Windows 10 will be fully supporting games, Microsoft's Phil Spencer Assures

Microsoft's Boss Phil Spencer is 'taking gaming seriously now'. He has once again reassured gamers that Microsoft is fully committed to support gaming Windows platform. As we all know that the Halo: Master Chief won't be coming on PC, this frequently left PC gamers questioning that how much priority does Microsoft gives to Windows.

I would like to add my thoughts here. Phil Spencer is not Microsoft's boss. He heads the Xbox division. As such, he is responsible to bringing games to Xbox. It would be nice to see Microsoft Studios support Windows Operating System being as though Microsoft Owns them, much in the way that SOE supports Windows and PlayStation. Microsoft is trying to turn Windows 10 into a ubiquitous platform so if Windows apps come to Xbox, it would only be fitting to see Xbox games come to Windows.

UltimateMaster4243d ago

"After the release of the Xbox One, things went different, but Phil Spencer stated in his recent interview that they are taking gaming seriously and after the release of Xbox One, the attentions are shifted. He is comforting PC gamers by stating that the company is going to bring back their focus on Windows platform, and by this, we think that Windows 10 will be a game changer."

No Sh*t.
Just look at all those Xbox exclusives coming to PC.
Dead Rising 3, Ryse: Son of Rome, Titanfall.
This is just a few examples, but you get my point.

Kayant4243d ago

"Dead Rising 3, Ryse: Son of Rome, Titanfall" - All not published by MS on PC so have nothing to do with them. Stuff like Lococycle, Halo Spartan assault etc count because they are developed by first-party studios.

fr0sty4242d ago

Looks like MS is trying to move away from Xbox and into PC gaming, slowly making the transition by releasing their biggest exclusives on both platforms. If it means better software sales for them, why not?

Lon3wolf4242d ago

Titanfall was not a Xbox exclusive, it was always coming to PC unlike DR 3 and Ryse.

Seafort4242d ago (Edited 4242d ago )

Console exclusives maybe but Titanfall was always coming to PC. Microsoft has no control over Dead Rising 3 and Ryse as they are 3rd party games and can go to whatever platform the publisher chooses.

Until we see actual good 1st party exclusives coming to PC apart from the mobiles games and castoffs they still aren't supporting PC gaming at all.

They got bigger things to worry about than a platform they don't own and games they will never profit from.

Stick to the Xbox Microsoft and sort that out first before you try to come back to PC. We don't need you anyway PC gaming is doing just great without you apart from some console developers still treating us like shit.

@fr0sty If you mean Ryse and Dead Rising 3 those aren't MS games they are 3rd party and MS gets nothing from them. They'll only get software sales if MS publishes them and the 2 above MS does not.

"Just look at all those Xbox exclusives coming to PC.

Next up, I see Quantum Break (Pretty much certain, *looks at Alan Wake), probably Fable Legends given it's history, and I wouldn't be surprised with Sunset Overdrive as well...

As long as its nothing like 8...

FlameBaitGod4242d ago

Windows live on PC sucked ass, people even avoided buying the game just to not have to deal with it. Lets hope they keep using steam for their games like Ryse

RedDevils4242d ago (Edited 4242d ago )

This might sound stupid but what about Windows 9?? Did they just skipped it, hell I'm still on windows 7 lol

He is kinda the incharge of gaming from Microsoft. So in this article, stating 'Microsoft's Boss' means the gaming incharge of Microsoft.. The boss is Bill Gates, everybody knows that. lol.

poppinslops4242d ago

THERE IS NO BILL GATES!!!

He's just another 'conspiracy'...

RedDevils4242d ago

But his say mean bigger than most

Software_Lover4242d ago

I've been using it all week.......... I prefer windows 8.1.

I know I'm probably in the minority. I like the ability to switch between Metro interface and the regular desktop. No start menu hasn't hindered my usage of windows 8.1.

Windows 10 is basically windows 8.1 in desktop mode, with metro built into the start menu. It will shut people up about no start menu and desktop (even though there was always a desktop) but it just seems like a hassle.

Eonjay4242d ago

I thought the Start Menu was returned with 8.1 update a while back. I never use Metro, but if they return the setting back to the legacy view, I will be happy with that. I get so frustrated whenever I try to do anything that involves navigation the settings in Windows 8. Things aren't in obviously places.

Soupaman664242d ago

You have the ability to use the old windows 8 menu in windows 10.
-Right click task bar
-properties
-start menu
-uncheck to use the start menu instead of screen

Software_Lover4242d ago

Well........... let me STFU

nevin14242d ago (Edited 4242d ago )

Wait, what happen to Windows 9?

FsterThnFTL4242d ago

They skipped it to avoid confusion with Windows 9x (Windows 95, Windows 98).

54LK4242d ago

And thus Windows 9 was named Windows 8.1
The transition to the Big X.

RedDevils4242d ago

Lol didn't see your comment I ask the same question.

btw M$ releasing the OS more than Ubisoft releasing their yearly Assassin Creed

At the rate in which we have been getting them, and the selections such as TLOU and Horizon and other similarly unnecessary remasters, no.

In terms of reintroducing classics and making them available again at a reasonable price where as previously they were locked behind ridiculously priced physical copies, yes.

Luc20597d ago

agree with the Horizon but TLOU - I've never played it and the remaster it's quite impressive graphically so for someone who never played the original game it's a treat to enjoy such quality!

There a plenty of gamers who switch platforms and so I guess the remasters are meant for those

There is a new crop of gamers every generation that didn’t play the originals and some of us older games want remasters of older games to play them on current hardware. Overall I say yes it is good. Nobody is forced to buy them.
They can also gauge interest for older IP with remasters and it could lead to a new game in the series. Remasters aren’t for everyone but no game is anyway

darthv72597d ago

Chances are their parents did... and may still have them. That's how I introduced my kids to gaming. They played what I had and worked their way up. They learn to appreciate them better that way.

andy85597d ago

I don't have an issue if they don't take away from developing new games. It's always nice to revisit a game you loved in the past with extra shine

gold_drake597d ago

remasters of older games absolutely.

but i dont see how a 4 year old game needs a ... Remaster. a upgrade update should do the trick

bjt i guess for newer players its a good option.
