Forbes: Ever since Microsoft and Sony announced and released the Xbox One and PS4, respectively, we in the gaming press have done a lot of thinking about what exactly constitutes “next-gen,” even as those two consoles became “current-gen.” Must all the parts of a character’s face move in a realistic manner? Is a real next-gen game simply defined as being built from the ground up for a fancy new system? How many characters should show up on screen at once? Cinematics should probably begin without loading screens, right? 1080p? 60 fps? It’s all hard to say, both because it’s an arbitrary distinction and because we don’t yet know what will define the current generation of video games. Activision and Bungie’s Destiny is the first major release of the holiday season — it’s primarily a PS4 title, despite being available on Xbox One, PS3 and Xbox 360 as well. But there’s something about it that feels like a genuine move forward, and it’s not about graphics, certainly not about the story, and not really even about gameplay. It’s about the way the game itself is set up.

Phil Spencer talks candidly about missing out on both Destiny and Guitar Hero
So you're saying that Microsoft has missed out on so many huge gaming franchise in the last 25 years from GTA exclusivity to guitar hero and destiny it's just laughable they had so many misses
Best deal deal in gaming must be when Sony bought Insomniac for 229 million dollars. They made over 800 millions on Spiderman for the ps4 alone. Thats just crazy!
another Interview?
how is he the only one who loves the spotlight as much as he does lol
Let's not forget he also famously passed on Spider-man, Genshin Impact and GTA3.
However it's almost kind of cute how he can keep that sh1t-eating grin and say he's a 'no regrets' kind of guy, especially when you think how much just these 5 titles could have swung the world in Xbox's favour instead of Sonys.
How he's kept his job I don't know, he must sure be keeping Papa Nadella's shaft warm somehow.
"But, but Gamepass, he introduced that!!!"
Yes he did, and now look at Xbox, all it's exclusives are coming to Playstation now rendering the platform obsolete.
No way near next gen, it's on last gen consoles, the Ai is terrible and gfx don't look that much better than last gen. This game is not next gen at all.
How can a game be next gen if its on last gen consoles?
Hahaha and Call of Duty Ghosts on PS4 and Xbox One was next gen too
It has some fantastic ideas that I for one would love to see explored further in other games but overall I think the game is just too flawed to be considered a true next gen experience.
I have been playing a game called firefall on PC, and honestly..it does 'destiny' better than destiny. And its free to play on steam. still as a bungie fan I support their work. Even when it falls short.
