Carl Williams writes, "Square Enix are known for releasing full blown role playing games on mobile devices. Not just the usual flick or tap type affairs either. Square Enix are also known for giving their mobile releases console prices and fans have complained about it since day one. They have already released the original Dragon Quest on Android and now they have released the second game in the series. Graphically things are spruced up a bit and there is a more mobile friendly control scheme in place but most surprisingly the price is decent. You won’t break the bank buying Dragon Quest II."

Dragon Quest II has a reputation, but it has nothing to do with its positive attributes. The game helped the series take a step forward, what with it having a more detailed storyline, including more playable characters, offering more enemies to fight and having additional travel options. Unfortunately, it is also known for being incredibly difficult. That difficulty has proved rather daunting. Fortunately, Dragon Quest Builders 2 feels like it redeems Dragon Quest II.

A couple weeks ago the first three Dragon Quest games, colloquially referred to as the Erdrick trilogy, were released on Switch. Which of these three games is the best?

While Dragon Quest I, II, and III on the Nintendo Switch might have some elements that aren’t 100% perfect, all three are good ways to relive these installments and form a foundation that will help people appreciate other Dragon Quest games on the system.
