Just as I said on the podcast, Ubisoft handled this the wrong way and are fully to blame for not getting the game to run at 1080p. Several developers have proven they can achieve 1080p (most recently Shadow of Mordor and Forza Horizon 2 are 1080p) and therefore this is somewhat ridiculous. Of course how the game itself is all that ultimately matters but why even bring up resolution thing up in the first place? lol

I honestly do not see why resolution is such a huge debate when it never was in all the generations prior. Not even during the shift from 2D sprite based systems to 3D polygonal based ones.

Yes when it came to revealing the specs they talked about the number of processors, sound, resolutions supported, sprites size / # on screen, colors...

But the games developed at the time were made the way the developers wanted to make them. I really do not recall anyone getting in an uproar over the saturn version of wipeout having a lower res than the PS1 version. back then it was about the speed/flow of the game and its handling.

I know its nothing new but at some point we forgot what these games were meant to do and focused on what they didnt do or what the opposition did/did not do.

Seems the worst trend is instead of leading a Q/A with devs on the style of game play or if it has a compelling story its always what resolution and fps does the game run at. Neither of which interest me. I never shunned a game based on its resolution/fps and I'm not about to start now.

You failed as soon as you said it was never a debate before.

It was certainly an issue last gen, and the differences were much smaller. Before that, in the PS2 era, there weren't nearly as many big name multiplats, so comparing resolution performance wasn't as big a deal. The proliferation of the internet is also a factor, meaning the debate reaches more people than ever before.

No way in hell can you have been a gamer last gen and make that claim.

Spotie, you failed to understand that the 7th generation is still ongoing despite the 8th having begun. that means that yes...'in all the generations prior' is a valid point.

For 6 generations of gaming, resolution was not an issue. Then comes the 7th because it marked the biggest change and that was shifting from the SD era to the HD era. With that came the obscene bickering that has continued the downward spiral we see today.

I will not fault you if you have not been there through it all, but please...have some respect.

"are fully to blame for not getting the game to run at 1080p"

why is it their fault for weaker hardware not to match their vision that was realized on other hardware? people should be glad they got the game to run at all on their handicapped system

My issue isn't as much the resolution, but the FPS. Resolution isn't as noticeable, since we'll all be sitting further away from our screens. But I'll be damned if we're not going to notice that the game still doesn't run at 60fps.

900p at 30fps is kind of pathethic even for xb1

Do the NPCs still randomly levitate every now and then? Even years later I noticed they hadn't patched that out

Honestly I loved the PS4 ACs. I'd love next gen ports of Black Flag, Unity and Syndicate
