Will Resident Evil 7 Return to its Roots?

Many fans would love to see Resident Evil 7 return to its roots, most believe it probably won’t, and Capcom would love to convince you it will. This is nothing new. Capcom has been promising Resident Evil would return to its classic survival horror style ever since it departed from that style with Resident Evil 4.

Shame but no

They said RE5 was returning to it's roots, then RE6, then they counted on Revelations which got a few things right but nothing big....now they are riding on Revelations 2 that it's a return to horror.

It's Capcom, they'd rather keep doing what they are doing and lie about their game because like most Japanese companies they can't admit when they are in the wrong.

the problem with 5 & maybe 6 was that they were too reliant on players having fun with their friends in co-op.

multiplayer experiences ruin the horror mood. can you imagine an ai character with you 24/7 in the original games, or even in games like silent hill.

Man, it's time to just do a complete reboot of the Resident Evil series.

Start a new story of a girl or something in a small town who discovers zombies, yeah ZOMBIES!! Not whatever the hell was in RE4 or RE5.

No more Chris or Leon or Jill or Claire. Let all that crap go already.

Muzikguy4246d ago

Of course it isn't going back to its roots. Didn't the writer read when Capcom said the main numbered series is for action games instead of horror?! This has been a crap day for news... Too many fake stories.

NO canon numbered Resi will never return to its roots they confirmed it themselves...Capcom said canon numbered will be action ONLY and Revelation (shit) series will be more survival horror ...idiots remain idiots

I doubt it too much but would great either way

Would be a relief, but the action far surpasses the survival horror portion of modern RE games. Of course I have my doubts for RE 7. Only time will tell.

They'll probably say it will in order to generate hype. Much like how RE6 was 'a return to it's roots' and RE5 before that, I believe.

REmake is about the best you're going to get.

Review - Resident Evil 7 Biohazard (Switch 2) | WayTooManyGames

WTMG's Leo Faria: "It’s been nearly ten years, but Resident Evil 7 hasn’t aged a day. Its brand new Switch 2 port not only showcases that its gameplay is still fresh and tense after all these years, but also showcases how well Nintendo’s portable can handle some of the more demanding games from the previous generation, with a handful of improvements to make it look as good as its current-gen counterparts. There’s also the fact there’s a ton of extra content for you to enjoy, from videos to entire new modes and side campaigns, so this is a worthy inclusion to the Switch 2’s currently minute library, and a great excuse for you to replay one of the most important horror games released in recent memory."
