Throwdown Ep. 05 – “Licensed to Kill”

The Koalition's Tony Polanco writes:

"Our first featured topic this week is inspired by Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor. Licensed games: What makes a great licensed game and what makes a crappy one? Which are some of our favorites and which ones have been pure garbage?

Even though I’ve said we wouldn’t really talk about it anymore, we discuss GamerGate again. Recently, members of the movement managed to get Intel to stop advertising on GamaSutra’s website. GamaSutra is the home of Leigh Alexander who has been one of the journalists calling for the end of “gamers.” This got me thinking about the end goal of the group. Is this a battle with a discernable end or will it be a perpetual conflict?

On the gaming news front we pour one out for PlayStation Home which will be closing its doors next year. We discuss Lizard Squad’s latest attacks on Destiny‘s servers as well as on the PlayStation Network. We also talk about a recent report which says that Kickstarted video games have made less money this year than last. For tech news we discuss Microsoft’s recently announced Windows 10 and the company’s inability to count properly. Finally, on the Pop Culture side of things we talk about Warner Bros.’ plans to reboot I Am Legend and turn it into a franchise."

Shadow of Mordor is too much fun. I'm 4 hours and I've only done 3 main missions

Romudeth4241d ago

Honestly, just a fantastic game/series (aside from the blunder of Microtransactions/grinding). The system with the orcs was amazing.. which it would be implemented in more games.

Supposed to be working on a wonder woman game with the nemesis system

CosmicTurtle589d ago

They patented the system, sadly. What that means legally I am not sure. But people don’t want to test the water.

Shadow of Mordor > Shadow of War

Abnor_Mal590d ago

I loved Mordor, while War I stopped playing half way through.

I feel you bro. The experience got better once I tried it on PC, but I'm still probably only going to finish the Galadriel DLC and not the main campaign.

Me too lol. I beat Mordor, never beat War lol. I have it though so I could always go back and play it. I genuinely think the time will come that I can beat my backlog. Maybe when I hit the lotto and can just play video games all day, on my yacht.

Such a good game. Also a fairy easy platinum.

Juiceid590d ago

Now THIS is a game I’d like to see a remake of!

glennhkboy589d ago

This game convinced me to buy a new console. There was a huge difference between the previous gen (Xbox360/ PS3) & the latest gen (Xbox One/ PS4) . The Nemesis System was only available in Xbox One/ PS4 . That was how a generation shift should be.
