I remember a few years ago it as just me and two other guys I knew who were PC gamers. Everyone else I knew was on consoles and had a laptop that was decent for gaming depending on what it was like sims or starcraft etc...

Nowadays more than half I know are getting gaming PC's I've never seen something like that before and that number seems to be increasing every day. A few years ago I rarely heard anything about PC coming from my friends and the gamers I know, nowadays most of them want a PC. Good times ahead now don;t get me wrong I still like me some consoles which is why I have a ps4 and a wiiu and owned pretty much every console from the NES to now except the Xbox one and dreamcast and I still miss my SNES :(

I have an X1 and kind of dont see the purpose of getting a PS4 (not right now anyway). Im going to take the PC plunge first and see how it works out.

There used to be a time when gaming on a PC was significantly better than consoles. I was a PC gamer since the days of MS-DOS and would never have considered owning one of the console systems then. People might argue about 4K vs 1080p, today. But that difference is minor compared to 8-bit graphics on consoles vs. SVGA. PCs having local storage meant more complex games could be installed.

But the technology on the consoles did a lot to close the gap. Consoles today have lots of local storage, they have controllers with enough buttons for complex gameplay, and comfortable in your hands. And there is something more enticing about playing on your couch vs hunched over a computer desk.

PCs on the other hand have gotten worse. Windows got more complex and there are all kinds of driver conflicts, bugs, malware, hardware fragmentation, and more that would more and more cause issues. It got to the point where everything I'd install would cause issues that caused me to search the internet for hours trying to find a fix rather than enjoying the game. Or I'd find that my hardware wasn't quite up to snuff even though it met the specs. This happened so much that I came to dread installing new games.

On the consoles, things just work 99% of the time. They've restored the joy of gaming that I lost on PC due to constant headaches.

I don't really believe that people are migrating to PC gaming enmasse. PC sales figures show otherwise, they've been in the toilet since the rise of netbooks/tablets. Maybe it is only gamers buying them anymore, IDK. But why now? Why wouldn't gamers have migrated to PC years ago when there was a much more meaningful difference between them and console games?

Steam is superb , with constant deals on not long released games(along with cd key sites) it is a valid option as I tend to alternate between my laptop and ps4 . Elite dangerous beta is starting to grip my life also....

I gotta admit, I've been pondering PC gaming myself. I'm not happy with the small jump in console graphics. I have stream in my Mac Pro but the selection is limited. Thinking about adding a PC For gaming only.

Built a gaming rig last month and so far I've given it more attention than PS4 and X1. X1 has more attention since I got Destiny and soon Forza Horizon 2. But other than that my PC will get more attention.

I have been gaming on PSone, PS2 for along time but i also had PC but tdid not have much knowledge about it so since i started to learn and game on PC things changed drastically for me i felt like i was free lol since PC has emulators for my old PS1&2 and is able to run them pretty good i realized that consoles are kinda obsolete the only thing that consoles are worth getting is exclusives but money does not grow on trees so i just watch them on YT xD. I made a decision that PC gaming is a way to go for me and about half of the friends i know are on consoles but since ps4/xboxone came out they kinda feel like they made a mistake getting it, some of them even say that console market is one big scam for rich naive people. Now the thing with PC gaming is that you actually have a choice in every sense of the word and with better tech comes more options (if only there were more software and hardware options aka nvidia, intel, amd, M$, steam) but you have to be smart and think years ahead when you build your own PC. There is one interesting thing about PC its like a living organism that adapts almost yearly and demands the same from gamers and devs the only "bad" thing about this is its adapting to damn fast and hardware company's know this better then anyone.

With all that said if you have the resources to get both then by all mean go ahead but if you have limitations you better think twice before you make final choice for future gaming, do what you think best for you and now what everyone else says it is but dont completely overlook others opinions also cuz that would not be very smart and there will always be someone that knows more and better then you and could actually help you.

Personally every 4-6 year upgrade with one component mostly GFX on PC is not that bad but if you always get the best of the best its a waste of money and time same can apply to just enough hardware, balance is always the best.

PC gaming is thriving and will continue to do so no matter what, in about year or two i see PC gaming may have a golden age... happy gaming to all !

Pc just has a better online social aspect as the games bring people together from all over the world.

auto update so difficult right? and those drivers from Amd and Nvidia improve a games performance. Update hardware when u want to. Sure over time as in years your rig may not run ultra on every game because Pc tech advances every six months but running on high for a decade is fine by me..... Console games Never run on ultra so why the double standard

Freedom of choice to use what ever controller or kb/m or wheel or play In the living room on the 4k TV.... Play Pc games in the living room, I call BS.

Built my first gaming PC in spring of 2012 and haven't been happier. Up until then I was console only.
If you want the best possible gaming experience, there really is no comparison. More choices. Cheaper games. Better hardware. Free online. Better framerates. Better Resolution. Better gameplay for FPS with a mouse.

This whole buying games over again every gen of consoles got old for me. Since that Sony wants to charge for online play now it kinda lost it edge there too.

why is this garbage in the ps4 section? looking at these comments its no wonder pc gamers are made fun of so much, bunch of stuck up pricks who obsess over video games to the point they try to justify spending more to build a pc then a console and then use the steam sales excuse when ps plus gives you free gamespratically and even now psn is having flash sales with lowered prices on games hell you can just sell your console games you beat or dont want for cash, plus no game will max or push the pcs so whats the point of getting it, slightly better looking ports, outdated indie games you dont even need a strong pc for, go play silent hills demo on ps4 and say pc gaming is more justifiable, that game is already near photorealistic graphics

ive always liked platformers, fighting games and action games so ive always had a console bias but i love shooters on PC ever since playing HL2 on xbox and then playing it on PC for the first time. dont really love too many shooters tho so for me consoles>PC even though the tech is really moving insanely fast. I think by this rate PC will be pushing 8K 100fps uncharted 4 level graphics by the end of the gen and a 4k per eye consumer occulus will be out. I just hope the PS5 will be able to 1080p 3D at 60 FPS per eye. glasses free displays should be pretty good by then and i think it looks sicker than 4K 2D but maybe ill be addicted to VR by then and convert to PC only. unless morphius 2 kicks serious ass like in the PS9 ads. maybe nintendo will come out with some crazy 3D gimmick for their new console thats even awesomer than the N64 in some way, anything can happen.
