Resident Evil 7: 10 Biggest Fan Demands Capcom Must Include

WC: Resident Evil 7 should be all about going back to form for Capcom, returning to those roots of survival horror to create chilling gameplay experiences that are perfectly juxtaposed with that lovely B-movie feel. The series has become lost within itself, losing the focus that made the first two games in the franchise so memorable. Even the weakest entry in the original PlayStation trilogy, Resident Evil 3: Nemesis, wasn’t too far off the track that Resident Evil 4 put it on. Despite RE4 being a very good game, it was really the beginning of Capcom’s push towards wall-to-wall action that has derailed the franchise. So, we’ll look at 10 fan demands that Capcom needs for Resident Evil 7 to be truly back to form.

Let me save you guys the time on this article..

10. Less Characters
(I disagree. The Resident Evil universe has many interesting characters. I would like to see all playable characters from every game crammed in, make it an epic story involving everyone who had to deal with the Progenitor in some way).

9. No More Globetrotting
I agree with this. I would prefer a confined building or area.

8.Classic Characters
(See 10)

7. Go Back To The B-Movie Roots
I agree

6. Axe The Quicktime Events
I don't strongly agree on this. Resident Evil 4 did QTE quite well. They can be annoying nowadays but can be done well.

5. Less Action, More Survival
I think anyone will agree with this, but we need to be careful what we ask for though (some new gamers will not like the survival element... we live in COD land now). I would love to see a return to RE,RE2,RE3, CVX and RE0 but it's likely not going to happen. Giving us less ammo would already be a step in the right direction.

4. A Monster Overhaul
I agree to a certain extent. Some of the monsters in Resident Evil 5 and 6 were pretty good, but not memorable. The first time you had to fight off a Tyrant in RE or the returning Tyrant in CVX.. that was memorable.

3. A New Inventory System
Resident Evil 5's inventory system was awful. Resi 6 kind of improved on it. I never felt any worry with inventory space in 4,5 or 6 which kind of kills the survival aspect. So yeah, I agree.

2. Be Willing To Say Goodbye
This suggests killing off some of the original cast. Could work aslong as it isn't a mass exodus.

1. Static Camera Angles
I disagree. We had the patience to put up with static camera angles during the pre-rendered days of Resi 1,2 and 3. Code Veronica X done a good job of having a moving camera in a fully rendered game... so I would hope for a CVX style camera system. I do think they need to move away from the over-shoulder 3rd person crap.

Thanks for posting the list! Sure is a big list for Capcom to add/change in RE7. I mostly agree about what you commented of all 10 :). Here is my few thoughts:

10.) 1-2 playable main characters. RE2 is maybe the best for me because I loved seeing the events from both characters side/perspective, and it remained scary for both sides. But RE6 was just a clusterf*ck with too many characters and action sequences.

5.) The older RE games were scarier and about survival, because you couldn't do any of these kungfu moves and had to rely on ammo, knife or running. I wouldn't mind if they remove the close combat moves to make it more challenging and give less ammo.

4.) Bring back slow creepy zombies, not the kind that use weapons. Scary monsters too, 1st encounter with lickers was awesome.

1.) I don't know the 3rd person over-the shoulder works very well in horror, some games do it well. Static camera was nice, because you didn't usually see the enemies from far/right away when stepping through a door. It brought up the tension. The moving camera in CVX was great.

And some that wasn't in the list:

Villain.)Even though RE5 is hated by many and is action game, a part of me loved it because it had Albert Wesker. One of my most favorite video game villains ever. Yea I know some might think he didn't die in RE5 ending, but imo it was pretty clear. So one of my biggest requests is that, they come up with some memorable and terrifying villain in RE7.
How they manage to do that, I dunno. RE1 Wesker/Tyrant, RE2 William/Mr X, RE3 Nemesis etc.

Puzzles.) Puzzles that actually make you think would be nice to get back.

No auto-save.) Bring us back save-rooms with typewriters + ink ribbons.

I get it though, games change with times. But with Resident Evil, the old and same gameplay mechanics imo was great and they changed most of the good stuff away for worse.

Nice post man, I agree with everything here. Slow zombies would be good to get back to (unpredictable lunges and all). Removing the Kung-Fu gets a thumbs up too (first time I suplexed an enemy with Leon I was like "wtf is this?").

Wesker returning would be awesome. I could see another Project W candidate talking his place (a lost Wesker), or somehow resurrecting him. Either way I totally agree, Wesker has to return somehow.

Review - Resident Evil 7 Biohazard (Switch 2) | WayTooManyGames

WTMG's Leo Faria: "It’s been nearly ten years, but Resident Evil 7 hasn’t aged a day. Its brand new Switch 2 port not only showcases that its gameplay is still fresh and tense after all these years, but also showcases how well Nintendo’s portable can handle some of the more demanding games from the previous generation, with a handful of improvements to make it look as good as its current-gen counterparts. There’s also the fact there’s a ton of extra content for you to enjoy, from videos to entire new modes and side campaigns, so this is a worthy inclusion to the Switch 2’s currently minute library, and a great excuse for you to replay one of the most important horror games released in recent memory."

The village graphics is insane!

Smooth gameplay already! So excited for my Generation Pack pre-order. I already platinum RE7 on PS5, but I don't have the chance to play Village.

By the way, the RE7 and RE8 included in Generation Pack are both the Gold Editions.
