Twinfinite writes: By now, the news has settled in and, to the surprise of some, Microsoft hasn’t yet done anything to ruin their newly acquired, 2.5-billion dollar intellectual property, Minecraft. Why would Microsoft, a company that tries to stay on the edge of the hottest things in gaming, put that level of investment into a low-resolution, basic kind of game? I’ve got some ideas.

Mojang has partnered with Merlin Entertainments to build the world's first Minecraft theme park in the UK.

Ben Porter from Newzoo explains that the player base has very little overlap with mainstream hits such as Assassin's Creed: Shadows and Ghost of Yōtei
I used to buy cheap games thinking I’d play them later, but I always ended up returning to my favorites. Now I skip the deals unless I know I’ll play the game soon.
This is very true, my nephews grew up on these two games and whenever I introduce them a AAA game whether old or new, it's like seeing an alien try to make sense of it and then quickly lose interest in it.
Can’t really expect a 8 year old Roblox kid to go buy resident evil 9 lol
Gaming trends are so weird to me now. Like, I’m old school and games were consumed essentially how movies were. You play through a title and look forward to the sequel or other things that came out. Now, that is so not the norm.

1. Sequels? Obviously...Building on the original is amazing but sequels do allow for building a different experience from the ground up.
2. Licensing? Indeed this game IS THE NEW LEGO after all.
3.DLC is a given, it's been getting tons of content updates already.
5. Leave it alone? I don't think MS will really push Mojang around, but I do see them using the IP for more purposes then it's current use.

A lot
I hope the sequel adds onto the game and takes inspiration from mods.
They need to add mechanical stuff in the next game, it's the next logical step with the crafting theme the game has. Add oil spouts which might "Blowout" if you hit them without the proper tools, trains/trams you can have going constantly around your map, lifts to get down to dungeons quicker and re-design redstone (just have wires and electricity blocks/generators). Buildcraft is a great example of what to do next

Then you can have power tools are the advancement of the normal tools, like Terraria. So many electrical/oil based machines you could add.
For more biomes I think they should look at the Twilight Forests mod.

There is so much content to add for a sequel. I hope the first they do though is add more funiture for your house, they are so empty. Even if it's stuff which dosen't have a purpose straight away I'd be fine with. More lights, lamps, fridges, freezers, wardrobes, TV's, baths, showers, toilets, sinks, wallpaper etc
I think Space is the next step. We have already seen games that use the Minecraft style taking it to the stars and having the user travel from planet to planet.
Also the game needs more lore, the who Hero O'Brien was great stuff, we need more urban legends or easter eggs like that.
Whatever it will be you know it will be huge!
Minecraft is damn near a loot cave and MS is going to be farming it for a long time. I'm 100% positive they will take this game to the next level. MS is always listening to feedback.
