When EA Sports announced that its NHL franchise was going to wait an extra year to make it’s debut on the next-gen consoles from Microsoft and Sony, many fans were both disappointed and exited.
Disappointed because of having to wait a full year, but excited for what the development team was going to bring to the franchise as it transitioned to the newer systems. Unfortunately, fans were left severely angered and disappointed when the announcement came from EA Sports regarding game modes and features that weren’t going to be included in the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions of the game.
Gone were modes like EA Sports Hockey League, GM Connected, Live the Life and Online Team play, among others. Features like drafting for your team in Be-A-GM wasn’t available at launch and the ability to play as your AHL affiliate in the mode is gone. And that’s just part of it, but you can read more about the game’s missing features and modes here.
But why, after admitting that the team had been working on NHL 15 for two years, was the game so stripped of features and modes that had become commonplace for the franchise on the last-gen systems? Well, there is actually a very reasonable explanation for it all.
NHL hockey video games have come a long way. Grandpa Heath takes a look at just how long in the 3rd and final NHL hockey games retrospective. There's also a whole lot of griping about NHL 15.
At least NHL 16 shipped as a complete product. Still waiting on goalies and d-men that act real. I have a feeling I'll be waiting several more years.
I went back and watched the whole series. And I don't even like hockey or hockey games lol Guy is real funny
From Canada to Finland, it's an NHL showdown rematch for the Picked Last Gamers crew - Ryan/Mark vs Chris/Ty - let's play!

Neil writes "This week’s Xbox Live Deals With Gold sale is now live and brings a few helpful bargains to both Xbox One and Xbox 360 owners. But which of the discounts in place should you be snapping up, and which should you be leaving to one side?"
Sale So disappointing again thought they would step up leading to E3. hopefully better deals on playstation.
Since the Xbox One launch Microsoft sales have been garbage.. I have $30 expiring in 2 weeks that I'm probably going to have to spend on full price content because of how lame these sales are. Hoping for an Ori sale next week during E3.
I was going to pick this game up as I haven't played a NHL game in a while and I loved the demo. I heard about all the missing features and check up on the rumors and decided to skip it because a ton of features are missing. Maybe next year when a full game is released they will get my money
"But why, after admitting that the team had been working on NHL 15 for two years"
I cannot find the first interview in which the wording can be easily mistaken for them taking an extra year on new-gen. But basically it went as follow from my own perspective mind you
; "Since all EA Sports games will use the same engine from now on & we're too lazy to develop our own thing , we will wait an extra year so the other EA Sports studios can work on stuff that we'll take & tweak for our own game. Yea we're lazy like that :D :D :D :D :D :D .

"SR: The reality is that we had 12 months to develop NHL 15 itself."
NHL 2015 was a big disappointment. They should make more quality modes for next game. Also some manager mode would be nice and of course .... Bring it to pc
