I'm on the fence about it. On the one hand recommendations are fine, on the other I really prefer making my own decisions.
This is why I oppose segregating games beyond re-releases.(old games new to Steam) I'm "afraid" of missing a gem that might otherwise be considered crap. I prefer my own judgement first.
Other problems I have are not being able to jump to the forums from the store page. I like seeing what is being discussed overall. If everyone is asking "how do you do this and that?" it is good sign to me. But its one of many things I look at before buying.
So far my recommendations have been way off or a game I already own. Its far from perfect, but I rarely go farther than seeing whats New or whats on Sale.
Personally I like how they segregate old and new games. That way I can zoom right to the new stuff to see if anything looks good. I say give this one time. They just introduced Tagging a little over a month ago, so Steam is still looking to improve.
