One thing he said though is that its very fun, and thats a great thing. The problems seem to rise from different peoples different expectations of what destiny was going to be against what it turned out to be. I didn't have a clue until i played the alpha, the messaging was soo confusing imo

Far review. I'd give it a higher score as I'm really enjoying Destiny. Odd for me to not care about the story but it's just so much fun with friends and I'm hooked on grinding for loot.

I have the feeling that more story and gameplay missions variations will arrive via numerous DLC which won't be cheap..

Solid game, however repetitive on so many levels it takes the fun of it ..

Huge props to Vince Ingenito, well done. I was pretty much nodding the whole time watching the review, couldn't have described the game better myself.

I agreed with IGN's review until they started talking about the classes.

"Everybody can use every weapon type with equal proficiency, and until you get to the very highest levels of endgame gear, class-specific armor mostly just looks different."

No, they can't. Titans are able to take much more damage than either Warlocks or Hunters, so they are uniquely suited to close-range weapons like shotguns, allowing them to use it a lot more effectively than other classes. As a Striker, they are also absolute monsters up close with Storm Fist and it's super.

Meanwhile, Hunters are best suited for precision weapons like sniper rifles, scout rifles, and hand cannons, as many of their abilities grant bonuses for precision kills if you go with Gunslinger.

Warlocks are more meant for mid-range. They don't get any weapon specific bonuses, and they aren't well armored, so they aren't suited for close range combat or long range, but they can do it. Warlock relies on their abilities more than any weapon, which makes the class distinct.

The differences are even more obvious with the unlockable classes. So how they can claim that 'Next to how well-differentiated classes feel in Borderlands 2, or even Battlefield 4, none of Destiny’s classes feel like they bring anything indispensable to a party.' is beyond me.

You bring Titans to mash up at close range. You bring hunters to take out enemies at a distance, and you bring a warlock to buff or to do massive, consistent damage with their abilities.

Great reviews so far. No one is being blinded by the ultra high production values or the hype. Just telling it like it is.

Screw the haters haha but I'm loving this game. Story starts off boring but it gets better as you progress further. The gameplay doesn't really bring anything new to the table but for some reason it's so addictive and fun(especially when playing with a fireteam).

These are the same people that ranked Call of Duty: Ghosts as the second best COD game of all time. I guess this was to be expected.

And this is why you can't base a purchase on reviews. Opinions differ! This imo is the best game so far this gen by a landslide! I've put in over 100 hours and am still unlocking new content! GTFOH! I'm having a blast! People just like to hate on mainstream things these days. The game is fun as hell to play! Don't care if u wanna call it a mmo, rpg, fps, whatever! The thruth if it was a normal game it would have score 5 to 6.
But since It's Destiny and it's been hype and promoted like hell they can't give a review lower then 7.5.

Honestly They delayed the review for 10 day to make sure that in no way shape or form a negative review would impact the sales. And each day were were treath with a main Destiny review in progress ( with of course the big Destiny full page ad).
So yeah Media are becoming more and more a joke.

The game is a solid 8 for me, the shooting is fun but the missions are boring and lack variety.

Ive seen a few scores but haven't read any reviews yet or tried not to remember the scores at the very least, I haven't seen GSpot, GInformer or and other "Big traffic site" review scores, unfortunately this caught my eye.

I knew the hype was pretty big coming towards release but I'm making up my own mind on this one. I've had too many big and little reviews over the years get me to believe a game should be good or bad. I am waiting until the Aus online is a little more flooded to give it a chance though.

I don't understand the low reviews people need to do some raiding or something or get some gear. I play this game on average for 15 to 24 hours a day and yet it gets low scores ( almost lvl 28 now) this game deserves a better score and remember this is just the beginning or you could say we are playing the vanilla version right now wait until all the additions come.

I give Destiny an 8. Its good and its just another game in a sea of games. To many titles coming out this year and next. Gonna need a second job soon. Destiny is what it is. Like Titanfall this game received way to much hype and at the end of the day it is still a good game but not the Godsend everyone thought the hype was making it up to be. I enjoy Titanfall as well - much better now with all of the updates and dlc since it came out - give this game time - dlc will come out and keep us entertained like other games.

I said early on one of this games biggest challenges will be a lot of FPSer out there have never played on MMO before. Just look at many of the comments "it's not an MMO" (lol noob) "it's not an MMO because I don't think it's Massive" (roflmfao you noob!!)

I think this one of the few reviews that IGN has gone into a lot of detail in their review. everything they said i agree with.I've played this game for two weeks now. I'm starting to feel a bit bored with the grinding, i love the storyline but they could have fleshed it out and beefed it up more with the lore (gilmore cards do not count, we need a free expansion on the story) and told us more about how to use mechanics of the guns, skillset and how to boost your light after capping at lvl 20. Majority of the tips i have gained to increase my skills and XP has been through third party websites. All the tips and hints should have been in the game from the beginning would it have hurt to have a tutorial or help guide of some sort. end of rant. But other than that the scope of the game there is a lot of room for improvement. And with bungie and Activision behind this i hope it does succeed

The only thing I can agree with this review on is Destiny will impress or disappoint you based on what expectations you had from the game. I honestly must say this game has been some of the most fun I have had this generation so far. I honestly do no understand all the hate an negativity towards this game. I think many people honestly misunderstood what Bungie was actually trying to do with this game. They never said it was going to compete with Mass Effect's story or anything like that. And if you imagined this game to play out like that then you were sadly mistaken. What the game was intended to do, however, was expand on ideas that have made the FPS become stale. And Bungie achieved this by going back to the basics and addressing things that many developers overlook nowadays.

No 1.: It just works.
The game worked day 1. I cant say for everyone, but I have had no issues with the online experience of this game. It is very easy to join up with your friends and play story missions, strikes, and competitive multiplayer. Thats what I expected from Bungie and thats what they delivered. There have been countless games both current gen and last gen that have very poor online functionality and structure. For example, Battlefield 4. Dice said that party systems didnt fit with their vision of what the game should be. In other words " we were too lazy to make a party system". It was so frustrating to have to join a game and then have your friend later join only for them to be put on the opposing team. What do we find later, but Dice added a party system for teams to join up before the match. The simplicity that Destiny has shown with just getting the basics right is what makes me enjoy this game so much.

No 2.: Seamless transitions from different options in the game.
I love the fact that in Destiny you're not constantly taken to a bland menu after everything that you do. When I sign into the game, I am greeted with my ship. When my friends join my fireteam I see their ships pull in along side mine. Then when we choose the game mode we wish to play, we hit lightspeed and fly to the map. That is cool and its something so simple that keeps the player engaged to this world that they've created.

No 3.: The constant updating to the game.
I think what Bungie has done with the random strike missions, mutliplayer modes, and other such additions has been great. The fact that I can boot up the game and go to the Crucible and there is a new icon for a game mode that wasn't there where I played the night before is very welcomed. Most other developers wouldn't begin to take the time to add new things like this, nor would they offer them for free.

These are just a few things that I have thoroughly enjoyed about Destiny. I'm not saying it's a flawless game or that it's the absolute best game I've ever played, but it's damn close.

There's nothing massive in this game besides Bungie's big ego. They make Halo & now act like there top dog & there shit don't stink.

Im tired of talking about Destiny. I still enjoy playing it and its the only thing I've played since 9th, despite it's lack of chat support and content - don't know how I'll feel a month from now. Definitely once you hit level 20 it feels like a grind, but the jpourney to level 20 is lots of fun. Especially with friends.

Weeks to a review a game that boils down to shooting waves after waves of enemies. Either no one realizes they're being sold the same game over and over again or they don't care. Maybe because they're simple minded people who just enjoy shooting at things.

yet another below average review for this game I think 7.5 is a little high for a boring repetitive lackluster game no story horrible voice acting

They gave it that score because it wasn't COD.

Games that get the most hype are more often than not the games that deserve it the least.

I get the criticisms for the game, but I can't stop playing it either.

I always thought Guitar Hero was boring the button clicking with the plastic guitar also got annoying. I played it twice with friends but I was also drunk and stoned. There are people who like Destiny but I never liked the game.
