actually im not lying it did take me 9hrs and 20 min even though its short its still a great game

that this guy is a giant tool, but does anyone else not think that the install thing kinda sucks? I am playing for my second time and it sucks having to do them all again. One time I even started act 3, installed, saved, turned off the system, and then had to install the same thing again...it was only like an hour after I just did it. So that sucked. But other than that 10/10 imo.

People say this is a hate it or love it type game but if u played the game u will honestly know this game isnt a hate it or love it game, and the big reason I say this is because yes of course for real mgs fans, we are going to play mgs4 the way it is always meant to play, but kojima has also added it where u dont even have to be stealthy if u dont want to. U can almost approach and play this game any way u want to, fps view, third person view, stealth view, or run and gun view, kill every enemy on both sides, dont kill no one at all (bosses are a must fight), or u can go around looking for every item and weapons like I do since I am one of those jrpg junkies who like to look for every little thing. This game is welcomed with open arms for any style of gameplay which makes it fun for almost anyone into stealth or shooting games. It really is a great game.

My cousin is a very big Splinter Cell Fan and he has never played an MGS game in his life and he asked me if he had to play the others to understand MGS4, and I said yeah it is prolly the best way to understand the mgs series but I told him he can go watch the gametrailer retro videos about MGS and it gives u alot more info on the mgs series then just going on to buy mgs4, so he watched all the videos and came back and told me ho awesome he thinks snake is so he went to buy the game and tried it out for the first time and he said he played it for 8 hours str8 and he wouldve kept playing but he had to work and he called me from work and said why didnt he ever play the series before and has heard of mgs games but never really thought it was as good as splinter cell. Well he found out that MGS4 is very versatile and the stealth is amazing in the game and what caught him was how deep the storyline is and he has gone back to buy the first 3 games and is currently playing them now and enjoying it and says he will play MGS4 again after he is done with the other 3.

I think alot of people who say mgs is a crap series really are just people who didnt give the series a chance but just skipped through cutscenes and find out later why they didnt like the game so much, but if u sit there and take your time with the game and watch the cut scenes, I can almost bet that u will fall in love with the series just as millions of others have including myself. The biggest reason why I love the series so much is because u hardly find any stealth action games with an amazing story behind it to go with the game. They need more of these story driven games because there are too many of them that might have great gameplay but the story is just garbage. Its like going to watch a great movie that has alot of action but the story is mediocre which instantly kills the movie. This is why I think the mgs series is such an amazing series, and my advice for anyone who hasnt played the mgs series, is to go out and play the series, because if u dont, u will certainly be missing out on the best stealth action series in gaming history. :)

I'm still in "shock and awe" when it comes to the game. I just started MGO last nite and it wowed me even more. Controlling the MK II trying to help protect Snake in the sneaking mission is awesome to say the least. Plus the CQC and all the little devices make the online just as robust as the single player experience IMO. It rocks!!!

I never owned a PS. Owned Xbox1 and launch 360 (in for repairs). PS3 was my first PS. I think HALO 3 ranks right up there with Kane and Lynch as worst games purchased ever by me. GTA, don't even play it anymore. MGS4 is the best game ever created. Like Hollywood movie but interactive. I'm A FPS fanboy all the way. I love COD4. This game is just fun as hell. Best story ever. I like how they give the option of remembering what mode it was on last time you pressed L1. So every time I ADS (like COD) it will go to FPS mode.

1st playthrough on normal I'm killing everything. I'm on ACT 3. Next time I'm going stealth.

It's fairly fun to play when you get a chance too, but when the cutscenes play more than your gameplay, something is very wrong.

This was one of the stupidest lists I have ever read. Almost all of the points are null and void. Doesn't use the power of the PS3? HA. Ninja Gaiden II gave the Xbox 360 trouble. Metal Gear Solid in many areas has way more going on on screen the anything in Ninja Gaiden II and the game looks leaps and bounds better then Ninja Gaiden II so put 2 and 2 together and that means that MGS4 would probably not work on 360 and if it did it would suffer from massive slow down. The no VR missions and theater mode is BS. No Theater mode almost everyone complains about the length of the cut scenes why make a mode to show cut scenes when every one complained about them? No VR missions I'm sorry i was unaware that people would rather have a Training mode then a Multiplayer mode.

Also I couldn't stop laughing at the Metal Gears of War. NEWSFLASH Gears of War wasn't the first third person action game that had a cover system.

Yes, because the 360 can hold a game as big as this one. Yeah, sure. Kojima made it clear as to why he chose the PS3. Even 50gb wasn't enough for him to fit all that he wanted. He made this game for the fans. He would have to redo the entire game for it to be on the 360.

How? In what way? I have two Six Axis controllers and a brand new Dualshock 3. Get the hell out of here. They work just fine for me.

W...T...H?! How is this Gears of War? I could have sworn that all MGS games required stealth and killing ONLY when necessary. He must have been playing this like Gears of War because this game is FAR from it.

mgs is the best game ive ever played. mgs would take a crap on gears of war. and why is this game on playstation you kidding it has been on playstation forever.

The characters still look like Final Fantasy characters. This is the reason Xbox is better most games on PS3 look as if they still try to pull off that Japanese look with American features.Hold on I will even say the same goes for Ninja Gaiden 2 which I will not buy and even if MGS4 was on the 360 I still wound not buy it because the game to me is just flat out boring.

HA HA HA HA!

1) Audio was compressed to fit on blu-ray. The disc also contains more than audio on it. Sony did not pay Kojima to keep this exclusive, in fact Kojima makes fun of the 360 on more than 1 occasion -- why would he do that? It seems like an act out of his own personal feelings towards the 360 than the money from Sony. Not to mention he has said before, "why learn to program for the 360 when you can learn on the PS3 and gain more knowledge of coding and better further your skills?". SIX AXIS support -- it does have six axis, shake your controller to remove your camo back to the original camo.

2) The triggers have no problems, in fact with the new Dual-Shock it's even better than they were before. I'm sorry for you the feel of pulling a real trigger seems lame, but what would happen if you had to pull a real gun trigger? Oh I can't do that it feels awkward it doesn't go down like a regular button! OMGZZZ no! Anyone who complains about a controller is pure preference, I have no problems with this controller where as on the 360 controller I have smaller hands and I can't stretch my fingers all the way across the controller to hit buttons -- see it can go both ways.

3) Act 1 is the worst sneaking act of all considering you're fighting with the Army for nearly 80% of it. How do you sneak? You just run up and down the alley's getting to your mission objective before Otocon tells you to hurry up and stop fooling around. Not to mention the scenes of bosses and etc. etc. There is hardly any sneaking in this Act besides the very beginning. Act 2/3/4/5 -- you're not SUPPOSED to help the militia, its all how you play the game. All I can tell you is that since you played the game as a typical FPS -- that's all you got out of it. And now, now that you go back to review it, you want to complain that you didn't get to sneak -- well try to sneak next time and you will see it can be done. And as for robotic enemies, did you even play the original metal gear? The whole series is about a robot! Hell it's been years since I played MGS and even I still remember that.

4) Boss Battles? This isn't Devil May Cry or any of those games. MGS never had it, MGS2 never had it...this is an invalid argument.

5) No Theater Mode. Understandable -- but the hate for the game based upon this one reason and the name calling is quite uncalled for.

6) VR Missions were fun but not necessary. They still have the virtual shooting range which was basically VR missions from MGS. However the other missions that came along in later games were also a bit more fun and I do miss those but that's not to take away from the game itself.

7) Too many cutscenes is a joke, this isn't an FPS it's an adventure game with stealth highly integrated. Don't mix the two, if there was even a few cutscenes in an FPS game then there'd be a problem. Lets not forget that, this is a huge story made for MGS fans which has been stated before by Kojima himself. Not to mention almost all the cutscenes are interactive allowing you to View the scene through snakes eyes or remember flash backs of previous games (which was awesome because it also gave you flash backs if you actually did play the previous games).

8) MGO accounts are quite easily produced. Konami ID's take all but 2 minutes to create, save your account info and auto-login to the game. You're all set, it doesn't take an hour like you feel it does. Auto-Login PS3 account, Auto-Login Konami ID. Plain and simple it's incredibly easy to create. As far as needing a Konami ID I see no problem. Look at CoD4 leaderboards where people have created multiple accounts to glitch the leaderboards with their -5000% accuracy, 2000:1 KDR/WLR. I find it's a great idea to keep people from abusing games like they've obviously done in the past.

9) Best in the world with world play? It doesn't prove who is the best when you lag, you even said it can be bad. If the guy from Japan is hosting and you're playing obviously you will be worse. Vice versa, the guy from Japan will be worse when he plays you. It's easily one of the better ideas MGO has compared to other games. Not to mention what are the odds you get put into a guy from Japan's server? I highly doubt you want world play this seems like another made up excuse to hate MGS. And lets not forget this is 10 things that sucked about MGS. MGO is a completely different game that's bundled with MGS on the same disc.

10) Installations, a 2 minute install every act is no big deal get over yourself. Not to mention the disc was cram packed so VR missions and other things would be taking up a lot of extra space, I wouldn't be surprised if we needed another BRD to get them. In fact after playing an act everyone needs a stretch or a bathroom break, it's a good way to get yourself away from staring at the tv anyways. Which in every MGS game it's been a big factor that Kojima tells you many times not to play in the dark etc. etc. It's kind of funny but it's true these things can cause problems and I find it a great way to have a 2 minute install just to refresh yourself. Not to mention it's 2 minutes..

You liked the game but you criticize what it lacked, it shouldn't be 10 things that sucked it should have been an article about 10 things that should have been added to MGS. Not to mention some of these things you cried about are irrelevant to MGS.

some of the stuff he said is just plain retarded. The triggers are just fine, no problems what so ever, all they do is bring up the inventory like in the past game. Most his points were just fanboy ramble. He did have very few good points. MGO I am a little dissapointed with, it does get better the more you play it but it doesnt stack up against the competition. Also the cutscenes, way too long; Im only saying because there isnt enough gameplay. The game is extremely short, You can easily beat it in an afternoon if you skip the cutscenes. I am a huge MGS fan and those are pretty much the only things I was dissapointed with, if your not a fan it might affect you a bit more than me.
I still suggest you guys play the game because its a great experience, the game is not perfect though.

Wow, how lame. One of the top issues with MGS4 is the SIXAXIS trigger buttons... If you've played MGS4 you know that these buttons are used very well in the game. Yes, the buttons suck but the game uses them very well. This article should be, 10 reasons why I don't like Sony.

This is First Gen this game and is so polished and amazing yet first Gen.Everything here will be 5 times better in the second Gen Trust me this is given.Learning Cell/RSX is not easy when you have to change your Dev library from PC to Cell.
This is a taste of it now wait till these Engine get the full CEll SPU treatment!!!
