Anyway, I agree with pretty much everything the article says. Since so much information is directly available to gamers now, gaming media has been forced to use cultural criticism to stand out and not their actual reporting. Then, all these rabid social justice extremists get their claws into the vulnerable gaming media, generating controversial opinion content. Combine that with social media and the Internet's tendency to get very toxic, and the whole thing just explodes.

Large mainstream gaming journalism is a joke. I have no doubt in my mind deals are struck, you say something bad you don't get the chance to play or they got to tip toe around gaming companies otherwise they too will not invite to an event another mainstream website will go to.

No such thing as freedom of speech anymore it's deals or uneducated opinions based on something.

Gaming though is turning into a sport. Who is the best, who has the best specs, who has the most sales etc etc.

Not like anyone on here has shares in a company and want it to grow for a legit reason.

It's also a prime example of the human race wanting to see success and failure so in some cases it is true. The days of arguing which is better and bringing a friend with his console over to enjoy it all are over.

it's so childish to rely on gaming journalist for games in the first place. just watch trailers and gameplays and you get the point of the game, easy as that.

It isn't really. There is IGN and Gamespot who both have Journalists that are respected with massive followings on Twitter etc

Then you have the Youtube Manchildren trying so hard to entertain themselves.

Journalists get you on the hype or hate train and then the rest is history.

About time this issue starts being addressed. In the early days, guys that used to write about video games didn't make airs about being a "game journalist". They were just guys that loved video games and would write about them. Also, remember, not that long ago, it was very difficult to get game trailers, get into betas, and be allowed early unfinished release copies. Until Gametrailers came along, a lot of sites like IGN and Gamespot were going to a subscription model, just to watch game trailers. Now, "game journalism" went past that, turned into a lot of kids that needed their mom's help to change their diapers, and totally full of themselves, the delusion they were journalists totally going to their head. Now, to the present day, most "game journalist" reviews are total crap. It used to be the guy writing about the game would play through the whole game first, then write about it. Now, there are "game journalists" that have their assistant play through the game and submit a report that the review article is written from. This isn't even addressing all the various pay off methods that have developed to hype or hate a game. "Game journalism" has become a cess pool.

The journalists are literally using desperate tactics to bring gamergate down and they can't. They hate the fact that gamers are calling out their BS and going to people on YouTube for gaming news, since they won' get hateful agendas slam in their face like gaming journalism has become.
