As a company, Rare has gone through some big changes over the years. Not many developers were as loved and respected by their fanbase as Rare was. Platformers, Shooters, Racers, Fighters, Rare could do it all and its seeming unbreakable partnership with Nintendo helped the company deliver high-profile games like Donkey Kong Country, Goldeneye and Killer Instinct, just to name a few. Sadly, soon after its acquisition by Microsoft, Rare’s popularity and overall quality started to fizzle and became a shell of its former self. Microsoft recently announced that Rare is working on a new project and hinted that the days of the company being known solely as developer of Kinect Sports and avatar games may be a thing of the past. As we speculate on the future of Rare, let’s look to the company’s stellar past and remember why they were considered pioneers in the industry.

These classics need to make a return.
Pre-ordered mine a few days ago. Love this concept and hope there are more games announced. I can’t justify paying the prices for games that collectors are asking for. It’s the primary reason I own almost every console except the Neo Geo.
I've pre ordered one here in the UK, no games though, as I'll move it on for a higher price. The white model looks awesome, but as expected, the price is too high. We'll probably see more of those all in one cartridges from China containing every AES game. In the UK, AES+ game at £70 ($95) is better than eye watering prices for the originals, but these games are so old and I can honestly say SNK didn't release many classics. The Metal Slug series is the only series I rate, there were just too many Street Fighter clones and not enough scrolling fighting games. Overall, the Neo Geo was poor for all genres apart from one on one fighters. Videos on YouTube asking for games from that console generation to be ported to the AES+, but who'd want to pay £70 for Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter 2? There's a lot of SNK collections out there, the best being Metal Slug Anthology on the PlayStation 2. The Street Fighter Anniversary Collection on the Switch contains 12 games for around £30, instead of £840 if released on the AES+. For collectors, the AES+ is the best news since sliced bread. Are there enough SNK fans out there? Nowhere near. Those £70 cartridges will soon start creeping up in price and it'll be a re-run of the original console.
I always wanted one in the 90's but couldn't afford it. Now i can but i think if i get one it will be collecting dust fast. It's a nostalgia thing i guess.

New report from Skillsearch found that 22% of those surveyed had been laid off within the past 12 months.

It's a step forward for Stop Killing Games.
Would love to see all these games on Xbox one and only Xbox one .
@You folks disagreeing do realize those game are MS Owned IP and belong only on an Xbox console. Their should be no thought or desire from MS to harm console sale by putting these game on any other platform but their own.
Gee, what a coincidence, every game on this list is from Before Rare was bought by Microsoft. It is really tragic what became of Rare in the last decade or so. They made some the finest games of my childhood.
Are you kidding me... Donkey Kong Country one of the greatest games of all time is not on this list??? It was one of the greatest SNES games and no the sequels are not as amazing as the first. It should be first place!
There were 10 good rareware games?
i feel like rare has one more shot to create a great game, if they make another flop like KSR they're prob be hit with massive layoffs or just shut altogether.
but maybe im getting ahead of myself.
