I think we're already "there" really, in as far as it's going to go. Certain types of game are only present on pc, and most 3rd party (western) games go to PC as well. I love my consoles and their exclusives but I can see a lot of people not needing consoles at all. That's cool too.

Still a bit of a usability and image divide between the platforms though. That's not going away.

But - anyone buying into any new platform is always a positive thing. More games to enjoy. :D

Erm no, casual gamers, family's, couch gamers, couch co op gamers etc will never find PC gaming appealing.

The opposite will happen.
As everyone shifts to tablets and mobile phones get projector attachments (or built in) which turns them into PC's, no-one will even have the option to upgrade GPU's and use them for gaming like they do with traditional PC's (atleast not gaming of console quality).

The market for dedicated gaming PC's will become small.

Listen i was bought my first sinclair spectrum my mom farther playing pong on the good old atari wich was in my eyes considerd a console.
threwout the years ive had mixture consoles pc style formats from c64 amiga apple BBC you name it as well as moving onto the nintendo sega platforms.
I know been building custom computers fixing computers past 17 years plus..
I have found that having a console simplafies alot of stuff. But your also restricted by alot things pc can do.
Its all down to prefrence many console players turn there nose at pc gaming but ive seen heard and turned countless them people into pc gaming.
Screw the 1080p 60frames its stupid like bunch kids in playground grow up..
I have like said had consoles ALOT consoles more than PCs i can tell you the future ... Well nonody really knows but can tell you this while consoles maynever reach the lvl pc are at in terms of raw power unless it can fit a proper PSU full fledged PCI express video card thats nearly or as long as a console today. It never reach that bar. However they are getting closer and closer this then was there step in the doir to what pc gaming have had for a while now.
I fir one am please proper DX11 but tyats not were it stops consoles are multimedia devices now music movies gaming browsing web all at hand.
People will move to PC Gaming BS.
People will choose to goto where they want to go to you cant make a horse drink water.
Both platforms offer something unique thats why we love gaming why its growing its a endless game cat n mouse. Its buisness its hobby for some like me its there childhood in there blood.
Im thankfull im lucky enough to have PS4 and still custom build computers play them each everyday.

The only reason I moved to Pc gaming is for racing Sims, forza and GT were not doing it for me anymore. But I've discovered just how deep pc gaming is and I will never go back to console gaming now, I'm playing games that are 5 years old and look better than Xbox one or ps4 games do.

If one of those 7 reasons was "You will get a much better job so you can afford to upgrade your PC every year" then maybe I would have listened, but alas it is not...

Given the hysterical tantrums console gamers have been throwing lately over sub-par Xbox One and PS4 game frame-rates and resolutions I think the writing is on the wall.

I don't think people will necessarily ditch their consoles but they will definitely be itching for more power that only PC's can provide.

In a few years the percentage of people who have an Xbox One or PS4 AND a gaming PC will be quite high.

I skimmed the article and not one of the 7 reasons is a reason why I would eventually change my consoles for a PC.

That said I have a PC and have been playing on that for years. And the only thing I am missing out on is Steam sales and better hardware.

Non of those reasons are enough for me to pack away my consoles. As I see it PC is for the enthusiasts. I was that once but today I have a more laid back interest and consoles is a perfect fit.

I think we will alll be "PC" gamers one day in the sense of buying hardware and then choosing the OS and controller type after purchase (so we can play all exclusives), but not desktop/motebook gamers.

Markets generally tend towards efficiency, and the current situation, whete people end up with two near-identical consoles simply won't continue for much longer.

Trough out the years I've more and more moved from console gaming towards PC gaming. But not for the reasons mentioned in this article.

My reasons are
- I enjoy building my own machine
- I like having control over what hardware and software gets installed.
- I enjoy playing with keyboard and mouse, but I also like having the choice to plug in a controller, joystick or HOTAS.
- I like that I don't have to pay a monthly fee to play the games I own online.
- I enjoy being able to play practically all games in 60+ fps and 1080p with max settings.
- It features a library of games best suited to my tastes, of which many are either not available on console or not of the same quality.

Obviously this ties in with a high investment of both time and money. Consoles are in many ways more convenient (but not always!) and produce very high performance quality for a comparatively little price. So to each his own.

I love PC gaming for several reasons. I enjoy building my own gaming rigs and upgrading the components, the power that gaming rigs can have, and I also love the diversity of games that PC offers. There is practically always something new popping up on steam to dive into.

On the other hand, My PS4 and XB1 have a monopoly on my gaming time. It's not the games or the experience on consoles, but the comfort and convenvience. Other than client meetings, I'm in my office sitting at a desk in front of a PC for 8-10 hours a day. Guess what I don't feel like doing when I have time to relax and game for a few hours?

A stupid article which goes from saying that PCs will be the predominant way to play videogames to drawing from that that everyone will eventually be a PC gamer.

Are you going to physically deliver and force PCs in to every gamer's home to make it true? If I'm a gamer playing a PS3 and there are no new consoles does that no longer make me a gamer if I'm not playing games on PCs?

I'm a PC gamer and I find this article full of BS. PCs have some advantages over consoles, and consoles have advantages over PCs. I play most of the time on my PC, but I also play on consoles from time to time, and will continue doing it forever. The writer of this article is a PC Nazi Fanboy.

Tell me again how the multiplatform strategy was supposed to fix everything. Look at your results and compare them to Nintendo, which keeps thriving with exclusives. Your loyal fans are gone. And let’s not forget the pile of IPs you purchased only to let them rot.

The worst thing is this is down from last years numbers/expectations which was down from the previous years numbers/expectations. You think about how long “down” has been a consistent part of the communication and you realize those subscriptions are what’s holding that boat together. The price cut of gamespass is still a price raise in a string of price raises. They are trying to use players to offset the missing revenue. Now call of duty is out of gamespass, which is literally WHY they bought the company. To draw people to the subscription. They realized they missed a boatload of money and that wasn’t sustainable. Now you pay for it like you would have if they never bought the company… so why buy the company? Mind you those billions still need to be paid back. Yeah it gives you a chance to say we make the biggest FPS… but the internal conversations must be brutal at high level on topics that really matter. Like revenue. Profitability. And ROI for the shopping spree.
