If PSP is a failure just because it doesn't sell as good as DS then X360 is also a failure compared to Wii.

Has this guy even tried out a PSP? Last I checked I have over 1 GB of video on my PSP by way of flash card. It can vary on size due to resolution, but it's easy to have video on PSP outside of the UMD format with some simple software on your PC. You can easily convert most video formats and add them onto your PSP. I don't think this guy has even really explored the functions of the system.

Again, has this guy not even looked at the PSP? There's a ton of original content. Crisis Core, God of War, Brave Story, Final Fantasy Tactics PSP, Daxter, Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops. Not much original content? The games I've listed are only a few of the original games available on Sony's portable handheld console. The statements made by Mr. Bach are ill-informed. There's plenty to be had on the PSP and this is a very weak statement regarding it. I encourage people to disregard his statements and pick up a PSP. There's much activity to be found on said system. Nintendo has dominated handheld gaming since the introduction of the Gameboy. Sony enters the arena with the PSP and fans say it is a bold move and praise their innovation.

Sony has dominated the console market since the introduction of the Playstation. Microsoft enters the arena with the Xbox and Sony fans say it is a desperate attempt and they will fail.

Here's the reality. Handheld gaming is a billion dollar market. Nintendo has had a stranglehold on it for years. Many have attempted to cut into this market and many have failed. Currently the PSP is doing a nice job of cutting into Nintendo's marketshare, but they are a distant second. Cell phones are trying to squeeze into the market along with rumored Apple and Microsoft entries.

This is no different then Microsoft and Sony's attempts to take a slice of the portable music market that Apple has owned since Sony gave it up with their Walkmans.

Microsoft has already taken a nice share of the console market along with Nintendo which used to have a majority share many years ago. This is the way business works. It doesn't matter if you are selling aspirin, cola, or crayons. If their is a market, others will join in to try and get a slice.

Damn, I wish it were troll season. Becuase this thread is full of them. People thought for years that no one could top Nintendo in a home console. They had been dominating sales, yes even against Sega. But look what happened, they got their butts handed to the twice by Sony in the home console market. So those who say it's impossible, think again. History tells us diffrent.

Would anyone buy a MS handheld given MS track record at making unreliable hardware. As usual MS joins a market way too late. A MS handheld has fail written all over it.

The PSP has sold 35 million so why would they want to watch and learn from a company that is failing at everything they do!?

It wouldn't be a bad thing if MS made a portable, but at this point they are not equipped to do such a thing. They have the 360 and the zune... They are streatched thin right now, and are still new to the games business. I like competition in all forms, but MS hasn't fully figured out their other problems yet. They are still battling with the 360 and its issues. The zune isn't making the kind of impact as the I-pod. People are still complaining about Windows Vista. And alot of people have a general hate for MS. Not to mention trying to get more developers to jump ship on the DS or the PSP.

I like the PSP, but portable gaming is kind of a lost cause. Even if the DS is the best selling gaming system. They have too many generic games out for them. I like God of war for the PSP. But so many terrible titles. The DS is the worst for generic titles. They get these crappy anime games that just suck! If I was microsoft, I would never invest in portable gaming. Plus if they did, it would probably just get an RROD or some sort of terrible malfunction. Microsoft sucks at hardware, 360, zune. All junk.

If they added a catridge/memory card gaming element to the Zune, I'd buy it.....but if it was just a download service without a physical media I wouldn't. I like my games in boxes and on shelves in stores :).

I will be AMAZED if they can make a portable that is as nice as the PSP...I love the PSP...and please MS, make sure the thing WORKS...

The only reason MS is probably making money off the 360 is because of all the people who have had to buy 2 or 3 360s because there first machine has failed..as to not wanting to make the same mistakes as sony did with the PSP..at least sony is willing to be innovative..not like MS copying everybody else..

The irony the irony. In spite of M$ being this multi-million dollar company, with all this money and power, cant even win a console war. I am indeed; however, interested in Microsoft's entry into the portable market(as everyone is). There resources are plenty and could easily go the route of the PSP in terms of a multimedia device, being the american equivilant of playstation that they are.

Of course, there's the hardware failures to consider..

Microsoft is truly a unique competitor with the losing streak of Sega and the raw horsepower and similar opinions of where games will go from Sony. Whatever they decide, we'll be waiting. Just don't, for the love of god, make the Zune your handheld of choice(Nintendo would crush you down).

IMO the only thing that psp did wrong is using umd as an option to play movies....

But umd is quite fine for holding alot of data.
