Vector Thrust, Cel-Shaded Flight Sim Lands On Steam’s Early Access

One Angry Gamer "A new arcade flight-sim designed to give an ego-boost to gamers with a deficiency in aerial-ownage and a lack of credibility when it comes to dropping mid-flight tea-bags and audio taunts, has launched on Steam’s Early Access platform. The new game features cel-shaded graphics and arcade style action, along with a snazzy level-editor, more than 125 achievements (for people with no lives and those seeking a sense of purpose through gamer-score) as well as leaderboards and controller support for people who are allergic to the keyboard and mouse combination."

Hopefully this gains some good attention and we start seeing air combat making a comeback these years.
I'm really itching for competitive areal combat games and there is a lot of potential for good single player games/stories/campaigns of this kind in a more futuristic setting.
Ace Combat really needs to move to PC as the main focus platform for it.

Someone needs to either remake Rampage, or just make a new monster game. All I wanna do is destroy some cities and fight some mega-monsters!

Rocket League is crazy good. Seriously.

IamTylerDurden13946d ago

Platinumed Rocket League, it's incredible.

Good list, with God of War 3 Re, Journey, and N++ as well as the 3 best games from the list july has been pretty packed on PS4 considering all 6 games i mentioned are PS4/console exclusives.

The rampant (awesome exclusives on PS4) pace doesn't let up in August with GALAK-Z aug 4th, Everybody's Gone to the Rapture aug 11th, Volume aug 18th, & Until Dawn aug 25th. There are other gems sprinkled in throughout the month like Ascendant aug 25th, One Piece Pirate Warriors 3 aug 25th, Gauntlet: Slayer Edition aug 11th, & Bedlam.

Hooray games!

I really need to play The Vanishing of Ethan Carter. Does anyone know about how long it is?

Digital_Anomaly3945d ago

Not terribly long. Took me around 8hrs and I'm meticulous about hitting every nook and cranny at least twice! Haha.

Totally worth the price of admission though. The game is amazing.

Vector Thrust Review - The Very Definition Why The Air Combat Genre is Suffering | COG

COG writes: "Vector Thrust is an action-arcade combat flight simulator, with a cel shaded art style for PC. It sounds good on paper and could have been that long awaited flight combat game PC fans have been craving for. Unfortunately it’s not, like at all."

That first quote....ouch. Seems this genre needs a developer to cone and kick some serious ass and make a good game in this genre.

Xavior_Reigns3949d ago

Someday Project Aces will return... yeah someday.

GrapesOfRaf3949d ago

It's too bad, I had a lot of fun years ago with games like Ace Combat and Crimson Skies. This genre could be great but it seems like everyone's turning to futuristic space combat these days instead.

MercilessDMercer3949d ago

It's been a long time since I've even been interested in this genre and it's looking like it'll be a while longer yet

MzDino3949d ago

Sad thing is, flight simulator games are wanted quite a bit. I remember being asked about their availability almost everyday when I worked at Gamestop. Saddens me to see this one doing not so well...
