5 Ways Mass Effect Betrayed Us

WC: "In the depths of this perfectly straight forward and totally-not-at-all thrown together narrative, we here at WhatCulture.com have decided we have a bone to pick with ol’ Mass Effect. We feel, frankly, betrayed!"

I stopped reading at the first point as the author made plot holes that are not actually in game, The leviathans didn't create the reapers they created an AI which created the reapers. The leviathans had controlled the galaxy for thousands if not millions of years. As in the DLC the universe bends to their will so why would an all powerful race feel that they couldn't handle one single AI? it worked on its own experimenting on how to get synthetics and organics to live together, it came to conclusion it needed more information in turn it created the reapers to keep experimenting until if found a solution the reapers are a means to an end not the actual solution. Leviathan even states it still has not finished it experimenting even though its been wiping out all space fairing races every 50,000 years it created the mass relays to speed up the experiment.

Why did they create the reapers? I mean your post essentially comes down to, Leviathans created the reapers because. And they had no reason to worry about them because they never had a reason to worry about anything, except that time they created The Reapers because. I mean fair enough, robots to kill people, to save the people from being killed by robots they made, is stupid...

However the original intention behind the robots that kill people, wasn't for them to do that. It just happened on accident. Never the less, Leviathans controlled the galaxy forever, and why did they do anything they did and why did they ultimately create the reapers?

This is ignoring the fact that the game had a lot more problems than just the ending.

I expected nothing and I'm still disappointed

Like with Fallout, it's starting to feel studios are using TV / Film adaptations when they have no game info to talk about.

toxic-inferno213d ago

I feel the same way.

I mean, how difficult would it be for them to release SOMETHING of substance? Another short trailer? A couple of proper hints? A short story set during the original trilogy, but focused on fringe characters?

Hopefully they're working so hard on the game that they don't have time. But still, with every passing year and so little to show, the franchise will be slipping further and further from people's minds.

Yeah agree it's almost a cop out since Dev times are 5 to 10 years just throw out a few seasons instead you get them done in a year

I still haven’t beat Andromeda. I am waiting for a lull of good games in my backlog

P_Bomb213d ago

So the TV show will take place after the OG trilogy. I wonder which ending they’ll use?

Should’ve just posted a picture of an Elcor saying “regretfully, we have nothing to share.”

Good games but no Phantasy Star?

merlox1108d ago

Why do people forget Phantasy Star? That is one of my favorite RPG series. Another ther good but overlooked series is ,Y's.

ES3 set things off, it's a shame they got greedy and decided to cut corners so the executives could get huge pay days.
