Rumour: Ready at Dawn - Wii Exclusive Developer

"In related PSP news, Ready at Dawn--previously a strong supporter of the PSP platform--has officially shuttered development on the portable so it can focus exclusively on the Wii."

Intrepid6549d ago

Well hopefully they'll bring some good games to the Wii. And wow, Ubisoft really loves the PSP. 12 games in development... that's awesome.

Darkiewonder6549d ago

Don't get excited about the psp titles from ubi yet. Remember they are the ones that are bringing imaginez series game to the Wii. :x

I'd still like to see what Ready at Dawn could do with on a 360 or PS3, though. But I guess being a smaller developer, it would be harder to do a big budget game on those, considering they can do a Wii game cheaper and have a bigger possible audience.

Ah well, C'est la vie.

jkhan6549d ago

Well I remember they said that they were developing something for the PS3 or atleast that what they said that they are going to move to PS3.

lsujester6549d ago

He did say that they had two original IP's underway... no specifics as to what consoles they would be on, however. I think the rumor mill kind of stuck it to PS3 being he had said on another account that he thought PS3 would win the "next-gen" war.

supahbad6549d ago

this is just a rumor too, i could've sworn they already said that their next title was gonna be ps3 exclusive

Mu5afir6549d ago

Ready at Dawn is going Wii exclusive because the new Insomniac studio is going to take over most of the PSP development, so don't frat. And good luck to Ready at Dawn.. working on the Wii as a third party developer is hard enough for big name companies, let's see how they handle it.

supahbad6549d ago

actually R@D already said they were moving to consoles after GoW. its on their website i think its an interview w/ the prez

rhood0226549d ago

Except in another gamepro article, the president of RAD said they had no Wii titles in development.

Crazy to think the WII is to the Switch 2, as the NES was to the WII back then. 20 Year difference.

My wife asks me to bust it out (heh) everyone once in a while to play bowling and tennis with the kids. There was a ton of slop on it but some good stuff as well.

Smellsforfree24d ago

Wii was great but boy howdy did it cause Microsoft to go on a dark walk with the Kinect and the disastrous XBox One launch that they arguably never recovered from.

Loktai24d ago

Not nostalgic for me.. I was there.. anyone who wasnt a little kid realized it was a gamecube with shit tacked onto it, it was the "joke" system and was well below even the switch in terms of comparing it to the latest machines at the time. The machine was well loved by young people and "casual gamers" who now remember it 20 years on, or in most cases more of its sales came in the 15-20 years ago range not right at launch- but again its not nostalgic for people who were "gamers" then really, just for those who ended up with one in their house, the games , graphics, interface and online features were archaic already in 2006.

This game along with Rogue Squadron got me into to Star Wars. The release of special edition VHS Star Wars collection was perfectly times on top of all that. 😆

Redgrave54d ago

Because it is.

Please re-release this.

SimpleSlave54d ago (Edited 54d ago )

But it wasn't. Although I do agree that some of the tie-in media, like the novels and comics, were pretty good.

Still, games like Dark Forces, Jedi Knight, Rogue Squadron, and the space sims were peak 90s Star Wars. Shadows fell flat because of the abysmal controls and unimaginative levels. And if you wanted to really experience the seedy side of the universe, Jedi Knight: Dark Forces 2 was peak, and it wasn't even close.

Regardless, and much to my dismay, we got the better version thanks to Ubislop in Outlaws, which is what Shadows should've been, albeit at a smaller scale.

As a kid me and my cousins loved this game . I have great memories with this one and the Star Wars pod racer game .
