There is a huge failure of logic here. Nearly every game that released this year was released across generations. So that includes Madden, Titanfall, Minecraft and Battlefield. Even the next COD and Destiny are cross generational. Don't they also count as remasters of the older gen counterparts?

It didn't start with Tomb Raider, it started with Call of Duty Ghosts on multiple gens. You are making an exception for games that came out a year ago and calling them scams when nearly every game release is cross gen.

I wouldn't call it a scam, when remastered games come out they normally have all the DLC ready on the disk so I personally think it's a great idea

from here on all systems must have Backwards Compatibility,as a rule.

Because they can do a quick cash grab when all they have to d is put the slider a little more toward the higher option ( and by little I mean from very low to low )

Because the architecture of these systems changed, backwards compatibility wasn't an option for technical reasons. Unless you want to pay extra to have, say a cell processor in the PS4.

There was an article somewhere that explained the reasons both went with the AMD Jaguar. And they were good reasons. One of them was that PowerPC hasn't kept pace with other architectures. So if the Xbox One stuck with the PowerPC, it could have Wii-U like performance, but hey, at least it has backwards compatibility?

I brought a next gen console to play next gen games. If i wanted to play the older games i would have kept my xbox 360.

I see a lot of comments saying 'But emulating isn't that easy', but I fear this is missing the point of the article.

Microsoft and Sony decided to not include backwards compatibility (I'm not an awfully technical man but I take from the feedback that this would have been very difficult) which, if you guys are correct, is fair enough. What isn't fair enough is publishers like Square Enix then taking the opportunity to re-release all of their last-gen games at full price with a little bit of DLC on current-gen consoles and asking full price for them. The effort spent on these re-releases should be spent on making new games rather than halfheartedly 'remastering' old ones. If they want to re-release their old games, they should sell them for at least half the price. It's taking advantage of the fact that there are barely any games to play on the new consoles.

They saw the lack of BC and thought 'Hey, we could squeeze more money out of these people'.

Long story short, you people are getting duped by buying remastered versions of games already out. You're gonna pay all that money to play a game you already played, but with somewhat better graphics? If you owned a Honda, would you buy the same model again at full price just because it included a better paint job?

Its a True Crime that Sleeping Dogs never got a sequel and that the movie never happened.

I loved this game on the PS2 it felt like a game on that scale shouldn't be possible GTA SA was better but true crime new York was denser and had way more explorable interiors. Adding functions like being able to check out the boots of cars shakedown shops etc really established a feeling of a living city it was played with bugs and glitches though din't get me wrong it was far from perfect but a solid game to play while waiting for the 360 era to start.

It's a shame it didn't sell well I remember reviewers hated it and it's funny that the franchise eventually became sleeping dogs which is now unfortunately DOA as well despite being a great game in its own right.

I wonder how different sleeping dogs would have been to true crime Hong Kong

Played the first one wich was pretty cool. Like an open world Max Payne. Never played this one though.

Game was terrible. LA was so much better.
