Evolve Delayed to “Fully Realize Creative Vision”

Turtle Rock Studios’ Evolve has been delayed until February 2015 according to Take Two Interactive’s recent financial earnings report. The multiplayer shooter was originally slated to release on October 21st.
As usual, the reason for the delay was to allow for more polish. President Karl Slatoff stated that, “We are encouraged by the overwhelmingly positive response from press and fans, and believe by extending development by a few months, it will allow the team enough time to fully realize their creative vision for Evolve.

It's not crowded in the sense of other major multiplayer titles, but releasing with The Witcher....I'm not sure about that.

vishmarx4217d ago

creative vision my ass.
no offence but its ANOTHER multiplayer heavy fps and to a layman its no different than destiny which happens to have a significantly bigger appeal

oODEADPOOLOo4216d ago (Edited 4216d ago )

I played destiny beta and it wasnt that much fun for me especially the PvP, alot of ppl in my clan didn't like the PvP either. Its one of reasons I cancelled my pre order for LE. Evolve, however looks much better and more fun for PvP.

vishmarx4216d ago

i didnt care about destiny prior to the beta.
i may get it,or i may not.i like the rpg part and well, space .
but i didnt even know of evolve until it got those e3 awards.looked at the gameplay and was largely unimpressed, didnt look like anything special to me.
how bland generic keep getting these awards is a mystery to me.long as the critic has fun for 15 minutes in an MP match ,the story, charactes, music, gameplay innovation, campaign length, even graphics can all go to hell.everything can be excused if the so called critic had 'fun'.
multiplayer isnt a necessity, even fps's can be good without mp>look at far cry 3,half life 2 or the recent wolfenstien.
to me all of this game is reskinned and sugarcoated CoD bullshit.

@ vishmarx

Whatever man this game looks fun to me and has an interesting twist with monster vs human, I'm not seeing COD in here at all. Ironic that you would consider Evolve to be generic and COD-like while praising Destiny, when its own PvP is generic aside from special powers and the gun on gun is more similar to COD then evolve is.

Seems like your only genuine gripe is that this game dosen't seem to "have a story" when we have yet to hear much about this game yet. It definetly has potential to tell a story if it wanted to. Besides this game is more of a evolution of LFD style gameplay.

DirtyLary4216d ago

and to avoid competition with Destiny, COD, and GTA.

Heisenburger4216d ago

What a freakin trifecta! ;) The games I'm getting this year are Dragon Age: Inquisition(perhaps my most anticipated since it's really the only single player game I'm getting day one), Minecraft PS4(never played it before and will only play it cooperatively with my friend), Destiny, and it looks like CoD too. Like a lot of people, Blops 2 was my last CoD. I think those games, along with TLoU which I already have, provide a really broad span of gameplay types, which I'm a big fan of.

Even with all of the delays, it'll be one hell of a fall. Now I'm playing Bravely Default and Guacamelee, while waiting for these games.

re2_apocalypse4216d ago (Edited 4216d ago )

What BS; they delayed it because of the stiff competition from the other FPS games, and while putting it next to heavy hitters such as Batman, Witcher, and The Order may seem like a crappy move as well; they are in better position there because only Battlefield Hardline is in the 1st Quarter to compete against it. So in other words more "accurate" assesment about Evolves delay, is they had no confidence in their New Independent Property to face the big FPS guns and ran away with the tail between their legs.

WeAreLegion4216d ago

I seriously doubt this was about competition. Evolve is one of the most talked about new IPs and won more awards at E3 than any other game. It has the attention of most gamers.

This is Turtle Rock. They know what they're doing. I seriously think this delay has more to do with the game, itself than anything.

crazysammy4216d ago

I played the alpha and the game certainly needed work. However the idea of the game is solid I think if they tweak a few things. One big one for me is that they dont force you to play a certain role. I understand the party dynamic but if I want to try and take down a monster with 4 assaults I think there should be a game mode that allows me and my friends to try.

DirtyLary4216d ago (Edited 4216d ago )

How will this not get boring fast? Seems regardless the map its always going to be peak a boo maze fighting? Im not seeing what the draw is...

crazysammy4216d ago

I think the 2 draws are 4 player coop, which now you can find TONS of games that do that... and being able to play the monster. Maybe I would have liked it if I had tried the monster but I was so underwhelmed its sad. I agree chasing a monster around the whole fight just left me shaking my head.

Report: Evolve 2 Was Once in Development, Concept Art Reveals Scrapped Sequel

It has been recently revealed by an artist that a sequel to the 2015 title Evolve was in the works. However, this project wouldn't last long.

jznrpg214d ago

Didn’t bother with the first one.

TheColbertinator214d ago

All I wanted was Left 4 Dead 3 instead

Abnor_Mal214d ago

Was this game ahead of its time? A few years later games like Dead By Daylight, Friday the 13th and other asymmetrical games exploded onto the scene.

MeteorPanda214d ago

if lm not mistaken it started the asymmetrical pvp matches. Evolves logo was a nod to their concept.

The_Blue214d ago

They should have because I played the first one when it was already dead

Evolve or Die: The final days of the follow-up to Left 4 Dead

Back in 2016, Turtle Rock announced that support for its 4v1 monster-hunting shooter Evolve would end but fans wouldn't let it die.

‘Evolve: Stage 2’ is back from the dead as peer-to-peer servers come back online

From NME: "Evolve: Stage 2 had its multiplayer servers shut down back in 2018, but today players are once again able to matchmake and join peer-to-peer multiplayer games.

Several months ago, peer-to-peer functionality was lost for Evolve Legacy, which was the only way fans of the series could play with friends. Upon a multitude of players reaching out to publisher 2K, the issue was eventually fixed earlier in July. It seems 2K have gone a step further now, and reinstated peer-to-peer and matchmaking functionality for Evolve: Stage 2 after four years."

MIDGETonSTILTS171303d ago

^^this, I have so many awesome skins on Xbox that I’d rather not lose

Germaximus1303d ago

Yes so far because it's just the servers alone coming on and the console version never had the free-to-play update.

I imagine if they find people playing the PC version and enough players are enjoying it then they'd probably reconsider opening console as well but I wouldn't count on it.

The game was epic as a monster. Hunters were really boring to play as to me.

LordoftheCritics1303d ago

I used to play this a bit.

Was kinda fun.
