PS Now vs. EA Access

**Update** PS Now vs. EA Access discussion begins at 25:03

Get ready for some Comic Con impressions of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Dragon Age: Inquisition, Alien: Isolation, The Evil Within and Sunset Overdrive! In the news, PS Now and EA Access battle it out for the coveted title of "Most Value For Gamers."

Sayai jin4286d ago

EA Access and PS Now are not the same thing. Why compare? One is a streaming gaming rental service that has a library from multiple devs, instant access to play, and can be played on other devices. Wwhere as EA Access is a subscription based game service for that allows gamers to download certain games for free, receive 10% off on new digital downloaded games, and allows gamers to try a brand new game 5 days before it is released.

ThatOneGuyThere4286d ago

one is a hyper limited poor mans PS+ for about the same price, and the other is useful.

donthate4285d ago (Edited 4285d ago )

@that:

On one, I get to play multiple games for a year, get plenty of discoutns and early access, and the other I get to play one game for 90 days with laggy controls and heavy compression artifacts.

The both cost about the same!

Needless to say, I immediately subscribed to EA Access, and avoiding PS Now like the plague.

coolbeans4285d ago (Edited 4285d ago )

They may not be the exact same thing, in what games they may cover or HOW they get said game to you and what device, but that doesn't mean people comparing both are committing a false equivalence fallacy.

Conceptually, they're both templates to rent or temporarily "own" a game's license (or however the legal mumbo jumbo is covered here). It's that simple. When two different services are setting up what could be considered a "digital version of Redbox" with wildly disparate pricing models...well...why are these articles that surprising?

Cursinguser4287d ago

The entire last half of the show basically encompasses that title...

oODEADPOOLOo4287d ago (Edited 4287d ago )

25:03 is where podcast actually begins.

WeAreLegion4286d ago

I'm already tired of this topic. Is there a "Block the phrase EA Access" button?

MegaRay4286d ago

Block EA access, PS Now and The last of Us and you'll never get any articles for days :/

ThatOneGuyThere4286d ago

in all fairness, the last of us is pretty freaking great.

DualWielding4286d ago

Why do people insist in comparing ea. Access with ps now when it should be compared to plus

Deadpoolio4286d ago

Why would it be compared with either actually.....EA access is a streaming service yes...But a streaming service for Sports games, seriously anyone who actually believes that NEW titles are going to get placed in the vault are retarded....

They have already confirmed that Titanfall will not be placed into the access service, so it's only a "great" deal if all you want to play are old sports games, your sure as hell not going to get anything with a 2015 on the box until at least 2017

hardeepmeghera4286d ago (Edited 4286d ago )

I sure hope this isn't the future of gaming. I don't want to have to stream games, I would rather have a physical copy of a game. I'm pretty sure Manu other would agree.

ThatOneGuyThere4286d ago

EA access is NOT a streaming service.

PrinceOfAllSaiyans4286d ago (Edited 4286d ago )

Even as a XB1 owner I'm not interested in EA access because I don't play EA games that much, and probably won't buy another EA game until ME4, Mirrors Edge 2, and Battlefront. I would be interested in PS Now though if they implemented a monthly fee service Similar to Netflix. 10 or 15 dollars a month for everything.

Muzikguy4286d ago

As much as I'd like to see that for PSNow, I doubt it will be that low. They want to charge per game to make more money I think. If people were only paying $15 a month I don't think they'd be making money. Especially if we could get an unlimited amount of play time for that price. You could beat, say, 5 games a month. That's $285 being missed by devs/publishers if all the games were new. Just my thoughts

The actor who portrayed Zoltan Chivay in The Witcher series of games has died

Alexander Morton, the Scottish actor probably best known for starring in British comedy drama Monarch of the Glen - but known to me for being the hilariously foul-mouthed dwarf Zoltan Chivay in The Witcher 2 and The Witcher 3 - has died aged 81.

Cause they play NBA2k26, COD and gamepass

Fishy Fingers36d ago (Edited 36d ago )

3x less sales than Playstation.
3x less consoles sold than Playstation.

Per captita, it averages out that the same number of users are buying CDP games regardless of platform, no?

Bathyj36d ago

The exact same or possibly more because a series S, initial investment and effort to Port to Xbox consoles for a third of the return.

Simply not worth it

LMGk35d ago

“ Simply not worth it”

And yet, basically every game comes to Xbox.

NotoriousWhiz35d ago (Edited 35d ago )

A third is a pretty big number to be honest. Like would you rather make 15 million or 20 million? That's the difference that a third makes.

GamingSinceForever36d ago

Hey it’s ok. They are really impressed with XBOx’s new CEO so exclusivity is on the way. 😂

Loktai36d ago

Ok but I mean be logical ... modern PC, Switch, PS4 PS5 then you have XBOX, of all of those XBOX is probably only 10 percent... I mean, what do you expect? 10 percent increase in sales is still nothing to sneeze at, remember - this is CD projekt red and they sell a lot of software. 10 percent of their sales is probably what most studios DREAM of selling .... just playing devils advocate..... its easy to say LOL haha XBOX.... but.. I mean we know what it is at this point. I havent bought on since my xbox one X and before that I only used other peoples xboxes since the OG XBOX and stick with PC and Playstation and switch OLED, but .. I mean.... theres nothing WRONG with an xbox considering its just not the best - but they work fine. make no mistake.
