Hmm, never had that problem and being taken out of the game from cutscenes and stuff.

Some pretty good cutscenes in that list.

For me the first cut-scene that really impacted me was the Metal Gear Solid intro. It mixed cut-scene with gameplay brilliantly with Snake infiltrating the Shadow Moses base by scuba gear. It was phenomenal at the time and completly blew me away. I though I was playing a movie for sure. After that intro I automatically became a MGS fan for life :)

It's a toss up for me , I loved watching cut-scenes in 3d when it first was done on Sega CD I think, or when it became the thing with the ps1 and saturn.
I will always be amazed by a well rendered CGI scene, that's for sure.
Can't forget japanese games for their anime like cut-scenes.

Cutscenes are a thing of the past. It's embarassing that devs still rely on them when they try to introduce their games with a trailer. Look at what current gen consoles, espesially the PS4 is capable of. Who needs cutscenes with such a powerhouse of a hardware???

EDIT: I was referring to CGI cutscenes of course.

ArchangelMike4329d ago

Yeah I think CGI cutscenes are increasingly becoming a thing of the past. Trailers these day are usually running on the in game enigne.

Can somebody post the full list, I really don't want to click through 100 ad filled pages of whatculture.
OT: For me, the scene in MGS3 where snake salutes the boss's grave was particularly touching. As well as the "baby girl" moment in the Last of Us

I loved most of FF8's cutscenes and Xenogears intro

FFVIII's cutscenes were gorgeous. I remember the first time I saw the game was when it was first released and EB Games were playing the intro on their TVs...and I knew I had to buy it immediately!

Look I know VIII has its issues and all that but how on earth can the do big anniversary events with new artwork and merchandise for VII, IX and X yet VIII got sweet f*** all.

They could have given it something during its 25th anniversary yet all it got was a single Happy Anniversary post on their social media.

solideagle40d ago

they should know that we are OG fans of VIII as it sold truckload as well. not as much as VII or X. I personally didn't like IX but X and VI are my personal fav.

Shadow Hearts 2 covenant is another game I love. I hope one day someone can make remake, I would be delighted

Final Fantasy VIII is great and you are always the first to defend it in the comments

i mean, well deserved, its one of the best.

I’d love to know how many units have been sold of all the Final Fantasy VII franchise games, including the original, the remakes, spin offs such as Crisis Core, and mobile games Ever Crisis. I bet a fair few copies.

Modern day publisher be like: "Failed to meet sales expectations. Pivoting to live service."

It's an absolute legend of a game. And I honestly really love how the remake trilogy is shaping up so far.

Konami Delists Some Metal Gear Games From Digital Stores Without Warning

Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker HD have been delisted from digital stores without warning.

cloganart108d ago

I mean, it makes sense. With Vol.2 coming and all that

Commentby108d ago

Stupid headline. Should state that they are being updated or discontinued. This makes the crazy people that only read headlines think it some kind of conspiracy to take away peoples already purchased games.

jjb1981108d ago

If you want to all of a sudden own them now and haven't played them yet because a remastered is coming out, shame on you. I can't believe people are complaining about this 15 years later when it was bound to happen anyway. "A new remaster is out, quick, I'd better buy the original from the shop."

gigoran8108d ago

Gamers: "Physical? who needs physical? everyone knows that digital online games are the future. stop living in the past. we don't need no stinking disc drive"

Same gamers: "How dare the delist a digital game that I own!!!!"

computeSci108d ago (Edited 108d ago )

And? What is your point?

Same gamers: "How dare the retailers to delist (quit selling) a physical game that I own!!!!"

I think you just read the headline and don't know how dilisting works with Sony. It's common knowledge that:

"Players who already bought the games will still have them in their library and can download and play them as usual."

So again, what is your point?
