Not really worth debating over. Its just a free news / media app. If you care about Nintendo properties, then yes download it. If not, then avoid it and move on with your life.
I really like the nintendo music app, that totally has me pay for things people have uploaded to youtube 23 years ago.
Necessary?
How about "worth the download?"
I don't foresee anyone dropping dead due to ignoring the app.

N4G articles at their finest right here.
If its free, who cares?
Except it doesn't launch 7/17 along side the beta release because it's already out. No companion app has ever been "necessary" but your reporting is spot on, keep up the diligent and completely factually correct work.
