YouTube is dominating as an online platform, but what do the numbers show about its influence in gaming? Could it really become the deciding factor in who wins the video game console wars?

Nope. A Majority of people who but these consoles wont ever even go to youtube for anything gaming related besides watching a trailer.

If it was up to youtube Microsoft would be doing a lot better right now. After Microsoft went around moneyhatting youtubers all of a sudden Microsoft was just misunderstood. The reality is that the Xbox One is a good console with a lot of growing pains and that is showing in sales.

I have no problem with people vehemently defending the console of their choice or changing their mind about a console. But when that change is promoted by a third party company, be it Microsoft, Sony, or Nintendo, paying off youtubers to promote that change than I do have a huge problem with that. Either way, I don't pay too much attention to youtubers, thankfully I can think for myself.

These articles make me laugh... I'm sure most of the people on the internet have come to realize that there's no end to the console wars... People will never let it go. So there will never be a solid winner.

Thank heavens for YouTube! for with it gamers will know the truth about a game, see it with their very eyes and not be mislead or misinformed by by reviewers' PAID opinion about a game.
YouTube actually has improved upon what GameFAQS used to do.
Now that we have 1080p, 2K, 4K, and 60 FPS video quality gamers have access to an "well informed decision" whether to purchase or not buy a game.

I also have met lots of great gaming friends on YT who helped me with my games most especially Japanese translations.

And there are more reasons why YT is awesome.

I don't agree with that. I WISH I could agree with that. But buying habits and customer opinions prove otherwise

We've seen developers in the AAA space try new things and ideas. More often than not, the customers aren't willing to give things a chance, or not enough people buy into the project for it to grow.

Creativity works better in the indie space because the budgets, pressures, and expectations aren't the same.

it's a nice idea and it worked during the PS2/PS3-era when AAA didn't cost hundreds of millions of dollars. smaller budgets and shorter development time left room for more creativity and more risk. a game didn't need to sell 4 million+ copies to break even. things are different now.

This is the guy who bragged about crunching his staff and having them work through the night. Crunch culture has lost more talent and done more damage to the industry than any other factor. Screw him.
