From the article, "Remember Aliens: Colonial Marines ? Of course you do. Half the reason that game was so controversial, other than being terrible, was how ingrained into pre-order culture it was. The hands-off previews pulled the wool over the eyes of the press. Retail exclusives, pre-order bonuses and special editions were shoved in everyone’s faces. And, of course, review embargoes prevented consumers, the people with actual money at stake, from making informed purchases. SEGA told you all to buy the game before it even physically existed, and never gave you a legitimate reason to because it knew it was garbage."

An opinion piece on the best Alien games. From arcade Alien vs Predator action to a terrifying Xenomorph stalker, these are the best Alien video games starring Ridley Scott’s chestbursting, acid-blooded nightmare.
Aliens Fireteam Elite was my GotY in 2021, single player was kinda bad but playing that game 3 player with friends was so good and really challenging on higher difficulties
Massive shout out to Aliens Vs predator 2 (2001), a dialup lag filled fun mess in multiplayer and 3 great campaigns

Alien Isolation Grand Mother VR is an all new virtual reality experience for Creative Assembly’s best ever horror game.
I played through most of the PS4 version of the game but stopped because another game came out. I bought it last year for PC with the intention of using the VR mod but haven't gotten around to setting it up. I am glad I waited.
Great game, even better in VR. A little drawn out by the end, but I hope we see CA do something a little different with the sequel.
Sweet. I also rebought this game on Steam for the purpose of VR. I'll have to give it another shot w full immersive controls. I had only tried it out briefly before.
It's funny this was never officially released at retail as a VR game, bc it feels so perfect for it!

The Alien franchise has had a long history in video games, but few games have come quite as close to being perfect as Alien: Isolation.
preorder bonuses is nothing new and SEGA should not be held accountable for that sort of stuff. EVERY major game releasing this year has some sort of preorder bonus at one retailer or another. This game is nothing like Colonial Marines and SEGA is not making the same mistake.
I think those DLC's are awesome as people would probably much rather play as cast members from the first Alien rather than Ripley's daughter who is but a speck in the Aliens Universe...
How is preorder DLC the same as lying about a bad game that was marketed with lies? I think this author is drawing comparisons that he/she made up.
I miss the days when spewing a bunch of hate and making incorrect assumptions wasn't enough to be considered an editorial...
Anyway, this seems like a MASSIVE leap to complain about how you dislike preorder DLC and instead of having a real point, you take a cheap shot at Alien: Isolation because you can just rant and rave about how awful CM was. Let me start by saying Isolation DOES show that Sega has learned something from CM, since I recall people being excited for CM because it was touted as a game made for fans, by fans and quite the opposite ended up happening. By including, to use the authors words, "one of the greatest movie moments in history," I get the impression that Sega is trying to make a game for the fans. Furthermore, the main thing that happened with CM was the demo was a total misrepresentation of the final product, which could still happen (could happen for any game if you want to be semantic), though I genuinely get the impression that they're trying to make right with this one.
i am not gonna approve this baseless rant
I've decided to hold off on this one. I'll make my decision after I watch a few streams on the PS4. I've always been leary of "movie" themed games. They usually end up being a hot turd.
