Watch Dogs. A revolutionary next-generation game that would allow converts to smugly stand above their cynical partners, showing off a new era of open world gaming and visual fidelity. This is the game that is going to change the industry, and we should be salivating over it.
Back down on earth after the game’s release though, it is clear to see that Watch Dogs fails to live up to the hype, not just be a negligible margin, but a humongous chasm.
So why does Watch Dogs fail to deliver on its big next-gen flavoured promises?

Microsoft announced its financial results for Q3 of fiscal year 2026, including an update on its gaming Xbox business and more.
Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.
To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

Thanks to the slip-up of an artist working on the title, we now have more evidence that a new Injustice game is in the works.

All available May 5.
I think the only game here for me is Nine Sols. Was always interested in that game.
Good month for me, I wanted that particular footy game and thought it might be due. Anyway who cares, shame about the site I'll miss the comment sections. All the best everyone.
While I agree that Watch_Dogs has disappointed, this article feels speculative at best, and full of non-issues-made-issues (such as the fact that Aiden Pierce is a "white, gruff-voiced American who has family problems") that make me feel like you just don't like the game and were scraping for reasons to justify that opinion.
You do bring up some good points, though. The cross-gen thing does provide some annoying limitations--but those can be handled in ways that prevent the systems from affecting each other, and Ubisoft is a large enough developer to handle that, especially after the game's delay. I don't really know that the PS3 and Xbox 360 have anything to do with Watch_Dogs' less-than-promised appearance, but if it does, I can't help but feel like it's the result of laziness on Ubisoft's part. Though "highly-anticipated" is a major understatement for Watch_Dogs before its release, and though Ubisoft will undoubtedly make a sequel, I hope it can learn from its mistakes and that it will listen to the feedback it's getting.
fail? Ubisoft just said WD sold 8 million copies
The game wasn't bad when it came to the idea of the game, and some parts of it; overall I felt the game could have done a lot better if there wasn't so much hype around it. The CtOS mini game between console and android was fun, and different, and I do agree with the author on some of the points raised especially involving character development.
What's worse, I had more fun playing outside the story than the actual story itself.
Its an early game on new gen consoles, did you really expect it be much more? I would hardly call a game that has the standard issues due to being an "early in the next gen" a failure. It was the same story at the beginning of last gen.
Fail? No. Live up to the hype for many? Sure
