We discuss how Nintendo will use amiibo, their toys-to-life acessories for the Wii U and 3DS. From Smash Bros. Wii U to Mario Party 10, we talk about how they could fully utilize the potential that is amiibo.

The rejection is non-final (and even when such rejections are labeled as “final”, the process is far from over, given that there can be, at minimum, an appeal to the Federal Circuit).
Good, as they should! A game mechanic like that shouldn't be locked behind a patent, and Nintendo didn't invent it either.
Nintendo wants to keep wasting money on bullshit lawsuits, real smart in this economy. They should put that money aside for other game projects. On the other hand, I don't care if they waste it all either, and they are screwed in the future maybe that will teach them a lesson.

A new amiibo has its release date from Nintendo, and pre-orders have started revealing the price and how it's the most expensive figure ever.

Nintendo completed its share repurchase and set its secondary offering price at 8,347 yen ahead of March 16 delivery.
I still don't understand the purpose of these things in Super Smash Bros., even after reading those paragraphs lol
So we'll be able to customize that character and use it when we want? If so, can I use it online or just locally? Isn't this doing cheat? If the guy is an NPC and can attack me why would I want it? Yeah, too many doubts and not many answers by Nintendo.
Also, if I have a Link amiibo, for example, how am I going to use it in Mario Kart 8?
Nintendo have done a terrible job explaining how these Amiibo (yet another terrible name) will work. While it sounds great that they will 'work' with multiple games they have not provided ANY insight into HOW they will work. Say what you will about Skylanders, the premise is easily understood.
Nintendo's approach is simply confusing. The market would welcome a Nintendo TTL title. The way these interact with ssmb sounds pointless.
Once again nintendo strives to be different simply to be different. They don't need to. Create a 3d world for these characters to come to life within and watch the money come in.
As it stands these have a very very niche market and will NOT gain widespread appeal.
these are the last things i want. My idea of a new gen is minimize clutter through digtal content and games. Not a bunch of toys laying around just saying
They're CPUs that you train to fight against or put against other players or CPUs in Smash Bros and other games. Why is this hard to understand?
