At the very least $10 cheaper.

Don't like blanket statements. I think the worth of a game should be made on a case-by-case basis.

There are multiplayer only games that can be worth $60 and games with every mode under the sun that can be worth only $20.

Team Fortress 2 was only $20 before it went Free to Play and that game nowadays has a lot more content than before.

the PC ecosystem is not comparable.. to that of consoles.

Volkama4378d ago (Edited 4378d ago )

Yes it is...

Edit: 5 disagrees, but last I checked they both provide platforms to buy and sell games and are in fact very comparible.

In what sense are they so different that we cannot draw comparisons?

Ares84HU4378d ago (Edited 4378d ago )

@Volkama

Mods, simple as that. The PC community just mod the crap out of every game making it better most of the time.

I'm a console gamer myself but even I know that.

Godmars2904378d ago

In the beginning, PC and consoles did not have comparable "ecosystems". That changed as consoles were made more similar to PCs.

In other words something like TF2 could be done, is being done to some degree, but both low traffic for a beginning new IP and base greed from producers - see microtransactions and P2W - are major hindrances to such things.

STARS4378d ago

@Volkama.

In the sense that PC's are NOT closed platforms, comparing them to CLOSED platforms such as consoles is not in the least bit fair. PC's have far more flexibility, this cannot be debated. And before anyone flips out I'm a console gamer, but facts are facts.

OT, I think value is very subjective and if somebody believes they're getting their money's worth out of something, they shouldn't have to be convinced otherwise.

Volkama4378d ago (Edited 4378d ago )

Right, so if I see Wolfenstein for £17.50 on Steam and Wolfenstein for £49.99 on the consoles I cannot say "that is £32.49 cheaper" because the latter are closed plaforms so the comparison isn't fair?

Sony and Microsoft may charge a few different fees or take different royalties, but that doesn't mean the services can't be compared. Valve make money off of each Steam sale as well you know.

With self-publishing on both consoles they are not only comparible now, they are almost identical.

Agree on your last point though, value is indeed subjective. I'm not sure why multiplayer only games should be singled out as less valuable than other games that may have less content.

Edit: @Ares84HU Mods mean that the ecosystem cannot be compared at all? I would say that is just one facet of a perfectly valid comparison...

Yes, like Starhawk on PS3.

But this is Microsoft we are talking about here, what can you expect?

WeAreLegion4378d ago

Starhawk had a single-player campaign, as well as a great co-op campaign.

Wingsfan244378d ago

I guess you never played MAG or Some Confrontation right? Both $60 games. Only multiplayer.

Mega244378d ago

And Both games died off quickly, with one closing its servers really early, and another one going F2p to be closed off later.

Artista 4378d ago (Edited 4378d ago )

Starhawk was developed in-house, lightbox and Sony santa monica.

With titanfall there's a third party invloved. That would explain the price hike, nothing to do with how you feel about microsoft

NextLevel4378d ago

If they have amazing gameplay they should be full price.
