November 16, 2006 - As with any game system launch, once the honeymoon in enjoying all the sexy new games and delectable hardware facets has run its course, the problems begin to arise. Whether it's the PS1's flip-it-to-play-it overheating issue, the Xbox 360's Red Circle o' Death, or the PSP and Nintendo DS's burnt pixels, hardware manufacturing oversights or technical blunders will often mean that some people will not be happy with their new systems.
Sony Computer Entertainment's PlayStation 3 is not coming through its own launch all roses either. All but one reported problems are rare technical glitches (most are isolated incidents with either specific owners' PS3s or else odd incompatibilities with certain display units), with few fatal errors being reported by Japanese owners in the few days since the system's release. (Of course, with a launch of less than 100,000 systems and a reported abundance of system flippers buying their PS3s to resell to desperate buyers, it's difficult to know how many problems we'd expect to see at this point.) The PS3's one severe issue is its lack of upscaling -- already a nagging issue for those who had been looking forward to enhanced PS1, PS2 and DVD playback, but now seen as a bigger issue for those who do not have 720p-capable HDTVs -- and we have an update on Page 2 of this article about what those affected by the issue will and will not be able to do with their systems.

Square Enix launches Final Fantasy X 25th anniversary site, revealing new Nomura art, books, music releases, and merchandise.
Look I know VIII has its issues and all that but how on earth can the do big anniversary events with new artwork and merchandise for VII, IX and X yet VIII got sweet f*** all.
They could have given it something during its 25th anniversary yet all it got was a single Happy Anniversary post on their social media.

A brutal reset, a smarter story, and a return to what made it great—Mortal Kombat (2011) revived the series.
15 years went by so fast. I remember playing through the story mode at launch.

Why did Sony push Shuhei Yoshida out of his role leading PlayStation's first-party games? He'd overseen some huge successes. Well, apparently, he didn't listen.
Yeah I can see that for sure. Shuhei Yoshida should have been in charge not Jim Ryan.
More confirmation that Jim Ryan is the culprit for what has happened to Sony. Hulst needs to go too. What sucks is that a lot of the good top heads at Sony are no longer there. I wish that guys that were forced out prematurely by Dumbo Jimbo like Shuhei and Layden came back.
Makes you wonder if MS even thought about hiring him after Phil and Sarah were leaving. He certainly couldn't make their situation any worse.
All the gamer/consumer lead heads are gone across PS and Xbox. shuhei gone phil's gone (questionable) but gone. The future of gaming is somewhat uncertain across the board.
...
and should be expected for every launch of any console of any brand.
the king is dead
8 months extra debug time and Sony shovels this on the market?
There are bound to be some bumps, but the lack of support for older/outdated technology such as non-720p displays will become less important over the next little while. A future update is supposed to take care of this issue.
Have fun with the slagging, boys, some of us have better things to do than deal with your negativity. ;)
You should be too busy playing Gears, shouldn't you?
