Devil’s Third is hitting the Nintendo Wii U exclusively!

Nintendo wanted this O.o. Brutal.

The sky is falling.

AnEwGuY4271d ago (Edited 4271d ago )

More like nobody else was interested, and Nintendo needed something "mature" for their portfolio, much like with Red Steel on the Wii. It's a miracle the game wasn't cancelled altogether.

vishmarx4271d ago (Edited 4271d ago )

bleh game. nintendo should know by now stealing games wont help the wii u.
good for the wii u owners though/

mkis0074271d ago (Edited 4271d ago )

I mean the game just looks like a gorefest without a story...maybe just a bad trailer.

God of War had the backdrop of mythology and a nicely fleshed out story to justify its gore.

Not sure I want to judge this guys work based on this trailer.

LOGICWINS4271d ago

^^Im a God of War fan and Devil's Third looks awesome! Not every game is intended to have complex story in the background.

MNGamer-N4271d ago

B Bb b.. but the CHICKENS! I'm getting this game just for the Chickens.

I actually can't believe nobody else was interested in this. I would have thought publishers would love to have Itagaki in their barn.

You can criticize him for his style but Ninja Gaiden and DOA have gone down the pan since he left so his overseeing was obviously very influential to what made those series compelling.

die_fiend4271d ago

That's true. But THQ got dissolved and having seen the game many years ago, and comparing that to what we see on PS4 now, there was only one option.

That option is this game bombing horrendously on a console that's dead in the water. Unfortunate as Ninja Gaiden was incredible.

tehpees34271d ago

The system is still doing better than XBO is. People here shouldn't forget that.

For the game itself, the fact nobody else picked it up means they felt it was going to "bomb" anyway. Hopefully Nintendo don't just let this die and build on it though as it has potential. They need games like this to stand out.

randomass1714271d ago

@die_fiend

Can we stop with this "dead in the water" nonsense? I haven't seen so much enthusiasm for Wii U since before it launched. I don't see it making PS4 numbers, but I definitely see more people buying Wii Us in future.

CouldHaveYelledUiiW4271d ago

You should see the IGN indepth interview-

It featured a lot of gameplay,

The Multiplayer mode looks wild- Base building mode. Air strikes, Satellites, plus hand to hand combat, and gunplay.
They also promised some crazy Online modes.

https://www.youtube.com/wat... (at 8:05)

I'm watching this... I think Nintendo even helped with dev. --

Kevlar0094271d ago

This game could satisfy my need for TimeSplitters. Create a bunch of crazy, creative game modes, poke fun at gaming and entertainment tropes, take humorous approach to pain and death, throw in some community designed multiplayer.

We get too many serious shooters nowadays. Give me something that isn't afraid to run wild. DT might be that game

BattleN4271d ago (Edited 4271d ago )

This is Nintendo's answer to my Gears of War franchise need!
It's cool and different, will be checking this out!

Venoxn4g4271d ago

that's a really good video it, after it game looks more awesome, especially great multiplayer

Madock4271d ago

I actually like it, it's more or less ninja gaiden russian style lol

NixonMonoxide4271d ago

LMAO you people are in absolute denial. I like some of Itakagi's games, but there's no hiding the fact that this looks ABSOLUTELY terrible.

Awful animation, braindead AI, and the graphics barely cut it as a high end PS2 game. The rubbish 1st person shooting is even worse than MGS4's.. This looks worse than A2M's WET, and that's saying something.

I really wanted to like this game, but it's one of the worst things I've seen in a long time. I'm expecting major bombing, if it doesn't go back to the drawing board. Hell, no wonder other publishers didn't want this.

4271d ago
BattleN4271d ago

Original Xbox wouldn't be able to handle those grafix let alone a PS2.

OtakuDJK1NG-Rory4270d ago

You are viewing it on the internet. If you have a Wii U go on the eShop and view it. Wii U eShop has the actual quality it was suppse to be.

Talk about a kick in the nutter butters

naruga3335d ago (Edited 3335d ago )

this game creator payed his idiocy to change the development for exclusive release on a dying hopeless console with the best way ....the game was generally good i liked it and was the closest thing to a hardcore Ninja Gaiden we could get on new consoles ....but literaly its creator was idiot as f..k to undermine his game (it was obviously downgraded for Wii u) and release it exclusively on a underpowered system for some cash, destroyed his name in a moment

rjason123334d ago (Edited 3334d ago )

Oh boo hoo. Someone didn't get a game to come to their system.

@Edmix
Believe me I know the feeling haha, just pushing out a similar statement many others make, just cause.

ShaunCameron3334d ago (Edited 3334d ago )

@ rjason

Apparently.

@ XisThatKid

How did they ask for it? You know the company responsible for the engine used to make the OG game went under forcing Itagaki to scrap it and start over, right? Not to mention THQ, its original publisher, eventually withdrawing support before going under. As for it becoming a Wii U exclusive, Nintendo was the one willing to help Itagaki with the funding to finish making the game.

_-EDMIX-_3334d ago

This is easily one of the stupidest investments I've ever seen any company ever make for an exclusive by a third party. I'm surprised you think the game is any good at all because I don't really believe the Wii U made this game bad, believe it was going to be bad regardless of where it was. The Wii U has a handful of really great games please do not blame the hardware for how crappy this game actually is. To my understanding when you create a game for a specific piece of Hardware your job is to adapt. So do not blame the hardware for why this game was horrible blame the developer for even downgrading the game in the first place as opposed to adapting to their situation. If you have to downgrade a game so significantly that it begins to affect the design and quality you're probably not supposed to be downgrading it in the first place to such a platform. I don't blame the platform in this respect I blame the developer because they chose to continue despite knowing the hardware differences. The regular Wii U exclusives don't have that problem because they were made to actually work on that platform...

@rjason- could be because it sounds to me like he basically likes the game but he's angry at the decision of it being exclusive somewhere else

XisThatKid3334d ago (Edited 3334d ago )

I have not felt so selfish about a game before. I like many waited and waited patiently since this games release and out of no where Wii U exclusive. At the time i didn't have a Wii u and honestly i wanted it for ps3 but that never happened nor for 4. Anyway i honestly am glad this happened. Save for the innocent dev and people involved But i never wanted a game to fail so badly. Not to mention when i finally played it i think it sucks imho. I'm fine with exclusives but when a game's announced for your console or platform of choice then retracted they're asking for it.

bouzebbal3334d ago

he had no big name to start with.. this same guy did the same to DOA4 and Ninja Gaiden for 360 and in the end he talks s### about Team Ninja about NG3 and DOA5. He's a loser !

blackblades3335d ago

Ikr it looked interesting in the beginning before it became an nintendo exclusive. Don't know what happened when it became an exclusive.

_-EDMIX-_3334d ago

Who knows , it was probably always going to be bad.

Ravenor3334d ago

A lot happens when a game gets developed. A proof of concept demo or pre rendered video being received well doesn't necessarily equate to a game game being good.

BLKxSEPTEMBER3334d ago

I'm still looking to buy a copy at a reasonable price.

ocelot073334d ago

Depends on where you are located. Here in the UK you can pick this up for around £12.

BLKxSEPTEMBER3334d ago

I'm in California. I haven't seen a hard copy yet.

xMANB3ARP1G3334d ago

bro you wont they made so few copies they are mostly locked in cages atm in ppls collections waiting for the value to skyrocket.

BLKxSEPTEMBER3334d ago

Yeah that's what I figured.

xMANB3ARP1G3334d ago

i only say that because im in the same boat all physical copies near me were scooped up day one and ebay had a field day

alfcrippinjr3334d ago

and this is why we should not support nintendo any more
they done it with the wii and they killed the ds off for no reason.

total bad for business

ShaunCameron3334d ago

Um. You can still get the main D3rd game, albeit digitally. The only thing they killed here was the online multiplayer.

OtakuDJK1NG-Rory3334d ago

Wait why are peopole acting like they care now? You didn't when it was released.

gangsta_red3334d ago

Yea, I haven't heard a peep or a whisper of this game since its debut.

gamer78043334d ago

its the principle of it, i don't like seeing any games shut down so quickly

Chaos_Order3334d ago

I don't think Itagaki is crazy for making a Wii U exclusive.

I think he's crazy for pushing out a half baked, flawed as all hell, generic gore fest on the Wii U without making use of any of the console's specific features, and throwing his toys out of the pram when people criticise it.

The ups, downs and future of Tomonobu Itagaki's Devil's Third

Tomonobu Itagaki, outspoken former leader of Tecmo's Team Ninja and current leader of Valhalla Game Studios, has spent the last eight years of his life working on the action game Devil's Third.

PhoenixUp3382d ago

Sucks to spend eight years on a project only to have it flop

MilkMan3382d ago

Love the interview. He's a great developer and I liked Devils Third.
