Bungie still <3 Microsoft

Steve Wysowski from XboxFocus.com reports:

"While many were worried that Bungie's and Microsoft's relationship would be hampered after last year's split, that doesn't seem to be the case according to Bungie engineering leader Chris Butcher."

After any relationship, there are just some feelings there you can't get rid of. Unless your partner winds up being a sociopathic murderer who wants to chop of your balls....

That b*tch.

They may not be officially owned by Microsoft, but they sure can't escape their grasp yet.

Montrealien6557d ago

Or maybe, just maybe, they don`t want to.

HighDefinition6557d ago

They made ALOT of $$$ together. So whether their friendship is "real" or not. They like each other.

With that said, I can`t help but feel Bungie would like to work on other systems, or they would have just stayed 1st party.

lsujester6557d ago

I more see it as Bungie didn't immediately want to go work on Halo 4, and M$ wanted them to do exactly that.

Whether Bungie cares about Sony or Nintendo remains to be seen, but when they split, it always seemed to me as that Bungie wanted to get away from Halo for a little while. They'd done nothing but that series for 7-8 years at that point.

And don't forget that MS still has a lot of say-so on Bungie's games for the time being. If I remember correctly, they kept refusal rights, which means no PS3, no Wii, no nothing except 360 games.

NO_PUDding6557d ago

Does this mean there's a chance of a PS3 version of whatever they do? If they make a new IP for example.

n00bFRAGGER6557d ago

No, they can't do another Halo on PS3/PSP/DS without Microsoft's permission. Microsoft owns the Halo franchise, and it's their baby so I doubt they would ever let another console have it.

HighDefinition6557d ago

I said a NEW IP. Chill the f**k out.

iceice1236557d ago

To Halo, so that can't go any other way. I've read before is that they have (M$ that is) first dibs on any Bungie game, so they can publish it and make it an exclusive. So probably won't see anything from Bungie on any other consoles this generation, maybe next though?

Xi6557d ago

unless microsoft says " we don't want this new IP" then they can go to another publisher and make it multi-platform.

MS has the first call on any game being made by bungie.

TheSadTruth6557d ago

I'd like to see Bungie go back to PC games. Imagine Halo built for the PC and was unrestrained by limitations from Microsoft, the DVD format, and the lack of power from the Xbox 360. And hire professional writers for the single player of course (for once).

NO_PUDding6557d ago

Yes rather than government writers who still insist invading Iraq was for WMD's and not the oil, and will write the most basic storyline to make you enlist in the army.

I kid.... it's not that elaborate.

hokiebonoz6557d ago

never bite the hand that feeds, well fed, you haha

name6557d ago

That's what you call a "second party".

Killa Aaron6557d ago

i don't see why they split because they aren't doing anything now and i haven't heard a peep of a new franchise of games so whats the deal they could have just stayed first party.

rusgreim6557d ago

It's not even been a year since H3 shipped. It's gonna be E3 2009 before their next project is made public. It's the cycle.

"Gaming’s Biggest Fighting Franchise"

Press X to (seriously) doubt.

DarXyde25d ago

Underrated comment. I used to hate that game so much that any time my siblings asked me to play it, I just picked Hom and shut myself down mid-match.

And then MK1 killed it again.

15 years went by so fast. I remember playing through the story mode at launch.
