Sony.
Next question.
Really both brought games...but Sony killed and had much more exclusive games.
Though tlg wasn't mentioned...nor was quantum break. So both has something for tgs and pax...but sony handed ms an a$$ kicking. Mike Tyson vs. Glass Joe kind of asstastriphy <----new word made to describe the level of actual boot in butt level.
This was overall a better e3 than last year for both parties.

US8F4364d ago (Edited 4364d ago )

I'm sorry but as a sony fan I would have to give it to microsoft. Game after game after game and what the hell are we getting for fall that is playstation exclusive? Crap to be honest. 30 minutes of no games and That new guy who replaced Jack Tretton talking about statistics I will call him Crap Layden from now on. What a bad first impression for gamers, and I never really wanted a person to get off the stage more than that guy.

Thank god I didn't buy a ps4, I will stick with my PC and the multiplatforms this year.

For me it was
Ubisoft>Microsoft>Sony > EA

Very underwhelming to be honest from Sony. All the cool looking games are multiplatform and most of them are coming in 2015. Even uncharted looked awesome but for god sakes give us something for 2014. A big pile of nothing

Enjoy your GTA 5 Ps4 owners(although I believe it is coming for all the other next gen platforms as well.)

nicksetzer14364d ago (Edited 4364d ago )

So, for AAA exclusive games we have:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
xbox - sunset overdrive, fable legends, quantum break, forza horizon 2, phantom dust, platinum games game, crackdown, halo collection, halo 5 and KI season 2. Along with a good line up of indies. (deemed a failure)
ps - blood bourne, uncharted 4, tlou remastered, driveclub, the order, little big planet 3. Along with a good line up of indies. (deemed a success)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I genuinely don't get it. Grant it, both have me excited, how is the xbox one's showcase not better? Let alone a "failure?" (as many on here claim)
:
:
@tony but only 1 of those 4 is exclusive? If we count 3rd party reveals or timed exclusives, then yes I agree, sony wins there, but exclusives MS has a fighter, fps, open world super power game, unique gameplay mechanic (phantom dust), JRPG (I assume), racer, adventure game, and a story driven game (quantum)all exclusive from renowned studios. I prefer MS' showcase, some may not, but it is hard to argue that MS did not have the better show with such variety and quality studios.
:
:
@kingtrash so games from last E3 (as well as shortly following events, tgs, vga, gamescom etc) dont count? In that case.

Xbox - platinum games game, crackdown, phantom dust, halo collection.
PS - Bloodbourne, tlou remastered, little big 3.

Same result, however, not sure why you want to completely skip upcoming games?

Tony-A4364d ago

The last four presentations from Sony alone were huge for me. MGSV GTAV Batman and ending on Uncharted??

Not to mention the awesome opening, an LBP3 announcement and PSTV coming to the US, it was obvious for me.

Sony had more standouts, they win it. I didn't expect it at all, but they did.

Kingthrash3604364d ago (Edited 4364d ago )

Sunset overdrive, halo5, fable, quantum break, ki....all at last years e3....just saying. Drive club. The order were at e3 but tlou wasn't why include halo1234...but not tlou?
Sony had 19 games Xbox 20...but take away last years games and see why they failed. Also EVERY 3RD party game will likely be better on ps4...smh yeah...plus Sony had a larger amount of indies...which was not included into the 19 games I stated.

4Sh0w4364d ago

I think some Uncharted4 gameplay would have been EPIC for sony but overall I definitely liked what Microsoft showed more.

georgeenoob4364d ago (Edited 4364d ago )

I'd honestly say it's a tie, both had their fair share of multiplats and exclusives. Sony had announced LBP, Bloodborne, and the Suda51 game while MS announced Crackdown 3, Scalebound, and Phantom Pain.

Already announced for Sony was TLOU remake, The Order, and Uncharted. And for MS there was Halo remake, Sunset Overdrive, Forza Horizon 2, Fable Legends, and Halo 5. Both delivered on games, which is good.

Sony did a bunch of time on TV and apps, but they had half an hour more than MS so I won't hold that against them. I know they must've pissed a bunch of fans by announcing the first two exclusives the first half hour, making everyone think their entire conference will be like that only to spend so much talking about TV and f2p.

JBSleek4364d ago

What games you playing this holiday season on PS4?

InTheLab4364d ago (Edited 4364d ago )

MS won that by a longshot. They had more exclusives in between all the multiplats.

How any gamer can walk away not at least a little worried for PS4 for the rest of the year.

Multiplats are bad for MS and good for PS?

Edit: and while I'm at it, this was the largest case for owning both consoles plus a WiiU.

Yes I will be playing Destiny and CoD but damn...what else Sony? Driveclub? I'm good. If I buy a cheap Bone I can at least go through that backlog until gen 8 actually starts in 2015.

mikeslemonade4364d ago

Just going by graphics Sony won. And the the best game from the MS conference was Witcher 3 which is a multiplat.

djplonker4364d ago (Edited 4364d ago )

@jbsleek

The ps4 destiny beta...

bleedsoe9mm4364d ago

i'd give sony a C and ms a c+ , liked the way ms concentrated on what was coming in 2014 first

Anarki4364d ago

The gamers won. Microsoft convinced me to purchase an XBone today, which is something new because I was against their stance with the Camera and DRM.

I have a deep down love for all the games Sony shown, though a little too much focus on Indie games. All in all, both were equally as awesome.

No_Limit4364d ago

I think if Nintendo show the new Zelda and the new Shigeru Miyamoto game tomorrow, Nintendo might have a shot of taking E3.

fonger084364d ago

Neither, but they both better than EA.

DVS-Zev4364d ago

@nick

Almost nothing new at all was shown at the MS conference.Just CGI trailers for games we already knew about.

LBP, Bloodbourne, GTAV PS4, Grim fanfango, Ratchet and Clank Redux and many smaller reveals.

That's why Sony won it out in my opinion.Tho i will say MS had the better pacing. The long winded rant by Shawn was so boring

MysticStrummer4364d ago (Edited 4364d ago )

For the quality of what I saw, Sony. They showed more of what I want to play. MS should be thankful Sony slowed things down in the middle for awhile.

If I was to vote based on quantity, whether I'd want to play the games or not, MS.

Also, comparing the best looking games, Sony won that too.

Edit - At the beginning I thought Sony was on pace to destroy MS's show, then it slowed down, then it picked back up again. Overall I did think Sony won, but it was close and MS had a good day as well.

jetlian4364d ago

MS had better pacing and better demos. Sony had a few though. Batman was great and far cry was good too. Sony had to many indies.

As for the rest of the year MS has the games as well.

morganfell4364d ago

Sony no question. And Sony won it easily by continuing to build on their original vision rather than back tracking half a dozen times and removing a key piece of hardware upon which the console was designed.

PSNow is the future of gaming.

Vita TV. Boom.

So much exclusivity. Just incredible. Bloodborne was jaw dropping.

BattleAxe4364d ago

Sony and Microsoft both had great conferences, but there was just so much more shown at Sony's conference. Sony went for Microsofts throat when they announced that GTA5 players on PS3 and XBOX 360 could transfer their game saves over to the PS4. I thought that was the funniest announcement of the show.

ABizzel14364d ago

Both were about the same.

MS showed a bunch of games, it was great but nothing was really mindblowing, however, it had amazing pacing and ran flawlessly.

Sony had the most surprises, and the best showings IMO, but the middle section slowed the pace too much IMO.

So the question should be who had the better showing and who had the better announcements. Announcements go to Sony, Show goes to MS for flawless pacing.

Both we're solid B performances to me.

MS Highlights: COD AW, Forza Horizon 2, Sunset Overdrive, Halo Master Chief Collection, Phantom Dust, and The Division.

Sony Highlights: The Order, LBP 3, Bloodborne, Far Cry 4 (WOW), No Man's Sky (WOW), GTA 5 and Last of Us, Batman Arkham Knight (WOW), and Uncharted (WOW).

Both had good shows, MS wins for better pacing, and flawless presentation while Sony wins for wow moments, and getting valuable exclusive content like Far Cry 4 letting you play with friends who don't have the game, Dead Island 2 beta & exclusive character class, and more.

maniacmayhem4364d ago

I personally think both MS and Sony where underwhelming.

They both showed nothing but trailers of what to come and the gameplay they did show were for games we already knew about.

There was nothing exciting at the Sony conference with the exception of No Man's Sky which could be a timed exclusive anyways. Other than that there wasn't really anything that grabbed me and said get a PS4 now! And why didn't Sony show off BloodBorne gameplay? Wasn't it leaked already?

Grim Fandango re-mastered?? I like Grim Fandango but...c'mon...Maniac Mansion or Day of the Tentacle would have been 100x better.

MS did the same as nothing popped at me that made me want a Xbox One now. But I can say I was more excited seeing Phantom Dust and a Crackdown trailer more than the Uncharted tease. Also seeing Conker got me excited but his only use will be in Project Spark...which isn't a bad idea but I would have loved to see his own game.

Lots and lots of third party games which I think will make up a lot of this new generation. Lots of times exclusives and timed DLC from each company.

Lets See what Nintendo has to offer before we go and crown a king.

Skips4364d ago

Nick. How exactly are decade old games (halo collection) and a small a$$ xbl downloadable (killer instinct AAA)? Lmao If killer instinct is "AAA" then games like Planetside 2 and Everquest next should be considered AAA 10 times over despite being f2p. Youd have to be a complete idiot to look at those games side by side and say they have the same budget. Fluff much? You also forgot sudas game bud. Hell, even add japanese centric games like lily bergamo and yakuza isshin. -_-

Dee_914364d ago (Edited 4364d ago )

I think Microsoft had more games but ubisoft and sony had better games imo.
That was my first time seeing No man's sky, and that was my fav game announced, the art style was so hypnotizing to me

zeuanimals4364d ago

@NickSetzer: Quantum Break wasn't shown here and Killer Instinct is already out, Season 2 is just DLC. People don't count DLC as their own games unless you also want to count inFAMOUS First Light.

Sony also showed off plenty of F2P titles and Loadout and Planetside 2, some of the best F2P games ever.

You also forgot Let it Die! by Suda51, ABZU by the makers of Journey, and a remake of Grim freaking Fandango!

And then there were the indies, some were meh, and some were amazing. Broforce, Not a Hero, and Hotline Miami 2 are gonna be amazing.

Phatty4364d ago

I think Sony won based on the quality of games shown, not quantity. Plus they had the Only major AAA from a first party that actually showed the in game engine (uncharted), which blew me away.

ziggurcat4364d ago (Edited 4364d ago )

@ georgeenoob:

and there you are at it again - back to stealth trolling sony.

also, the phantom pain was announced/shown during sony's presentation, not MS's.

but again, you're sort of right - it was a tie, but only in the sense that both of them didn't show a heck of a lot of gameplay. as far as the games that were show, though, sony edged MS out by a fair margin.

@ mrpsychotic below:

free to play means it's not hidden behind a paywall - meaning you *do not* need PS+ to play any of the F2P games on PS4 (when you need XBL to play them on xbox). and everyone (even those on xbox) knows that certain things are available for a small fee in any F2P game.

you're just acting bitter, and hurt - i think it's bed time for you, little guy. *pats you gently on the head*

and i'd ask you to explain how MS won, but you can't.

Bruce_Wayne4364d ago

@Nick

It's obvious who you're favoring. Way to dumb down Sony's presentation. You forgot to mention Sony also has Grim Fandango and OG R&C remaster. Plus, don't forget Let It Die. Whether the game looks underwhelming or not does not matter because there are different kinds of gamers that enjoy different games.

So fix your list.

MS: Sunset Overdrive, Fable Legends, Quantum Break, Forza Horizon 2, Phantom Dust, Scalebound, Crackdown 3, Halo Collection, and Halo 5. KI Season 2? That's not a game; it's an expansion.

Sony: Bloodborne, Uncharted 4, TLOU Remastered, The Order, LBP3, Let It Die, Grim Fandango, R&C remaster, and DriveClub.

That's 9 vs. 9.

As for the people bragging about what they're going to play on PS4, remember LBP3, DriveClub, TLOU Remastered, and don't forget all the other third-party titles, because they matter too. PS2 will be awesome too.

TheGreatAndPowerful4364d ago (Edited 4364d ago )

Wait.. wait.. there are people in here that actually think MS won E3? Are you freakin' serious? lol Sony spank the ever loving isht out of MS' little keynote. MS showed off nothing but CGI trailers while PS4 was all gameplay. Uncharted 4 destroyed all.

UC4 1080p/60fps vid for those that haven't seen it yet.
http://nd.images.s3.amazona...

DarthZoolu4364d ago

Microsofts exclusives look more exciting plus 8 player co-op and 4 player co-op for Dead Rising I'm gonna be tired I'm up all night playing already, i wanted get some heavy project spark time in but looks I'm gonna be to busy, and I gotta work in the morning. Glad everything is digital now so I don't have to get up and change the dics. Hell I don't even have to press a button to record clips or broadcast.

ZodTheRipper4364d ago

Both had strong showings but one of them played it safe while the other one showed many excitign new things. I mean, Sony could've shown 75% of the stuff MS showed as well because it's also available on PS4 (in superior quality). Sony on the other hand excited people with stuff you can't get anywhere else... and for most people, Bloodborne was the game of the show.

SilentNegotiator4363d ago

@nicksetzer1

So DLC on Xbone counts, but not on Ps4?
Every single non-first party game shown for Ps4 was an indie game?
Quantum Break counts, but not the Ratchet remake?

And a troll comment like that gets so many agrees and a well said...why?

choujij4363d ago (Edited 4363d ago )

Sony, since it wasn't just 3rd party games, games we've already seen and loads of CGI trailers.

Plus dat white PS4 Destiny bundle announcement. T_T

MeliMel4363d ago

@Lukas,

Best answer ever. For me Gamers won. Especially if you support multiple consoles.
They both had good show but Sony did have some awesome exclusives. UC4 put the cherry on top.

Ju4363d ago (Edited 4363d ago )

I go with MS this time around. I think Sony's conference lacked focus and didn't bring a single new high profile IP - nothing of the scope of a new UC; where is Guerilla's new IP? MS had a better mix over all; Letting Insomniac go MS is Sony's loss.

Also, to much focus on Zombies (3 dark titles!) but no fun factor games (colorful, fresh, bright games).

Even though, I must say, from a Sony perspective it was worth watching MS's conference because the covered plenty of multiplatform titles - which will run awesome on the PS4 - and were not there at Sony's conference.

The Halo collection is actually something which might make me buy a XO. Now, add a Gears of War remake and I am in. Games I always wanted to play but too late to get a 360 for.

Now that my son's getting my PS4 and that white Destiny PS4 is very tempting, maybe a cheap XO can tie me over till end of the year...hmmm

One thing, though, Nomade Skys (is that spelled right?) might just be what I always wanted to play - seamless surface to space travel. This hasn't been done in a long time (if ever - maybe Elite back in the day but not in that scope).

frostypants4363d ago

Lemme get this straight...E3 just started TODAY...and we're picking winners? WTF?

papashango4363d ago

When the hell am I gonna be able to use my ps4 for something...

There's no way Sony wins anything with all of 0 games that are interesting coming out this year.

morganfell4363d ago

When you actually own a PS4 you will figure it out with all the games on PS4 that look better and play better than the competition.

dantesparda4363d ago (Edited 4363d ago )

Both were good, but Sony's was better, more games and less CGI trailers. Plain, pure and simple.

redwin4363d ago

@morganfell, I have them both , friend me I'm evil clown1 on the ps4 and batt26 on Xbox . I think MS won I can play Sony's best games in the box . The order and blood born are CG movies with occasional point and shoot intermissions. I'm sorry, I'm being honest here, when it comes to games. MS.

TheGreatAndPowerful4363d ago (Edited 4363d ago )

Why Sony did of course.

Major sites/news media give their verdicts on the main E3 Conferences
http://www.neogaf.com/forum...

shotoclone4363d ago

@nicksetzer1
Dude, you cant just blast off a list of AAA exclusives within a vacuum, and get away with it. While good on paper, most of xbox's reveals where awful. And rehashed halo for 2014(?) Man, they are scrapping the bottom of the barrel. If we are gonna count re-launches of old games...how about 2013's game of the year the last of US relaunch?

Plus, you didn't name everything Sony had to offer. Like the second son DLC which is basically a soft prequel, given that it doesn't require the original game. Grimfandango, and Sony has a much more diverse, and stronger line for indies, including the breath taking ABZU from the creators of journey.

And did you forget NO MANS SKY ? Ill forgive you for that.

Also, sony actually remembers that its in the hardware business. Games, games, games are great...but xbox is a console first...not a software developer like ubisoft. They didn't address those who bought their xboxone (for $100 more) with kinect at all... They hedged their bets on keeping it safe, and they failed.

And no new updates on xboxlive...WTF ! At-least Sony had things waiting for SO members when they got home, some free stuff, betas, including a new game called Entwined. E3 feels more soulful when its not just a bunch of trailers.

Lastly, i just had more fun at sony's press. Did they sort of bore me with all the TV crap...ya, they did. TBH, MS press conference was more streamlined and better edited. However, im still more excited for sony games, and showings. THAT BATMAN GAMEPLAY DEMO! And also what they are doing with destiny. Plus a sleek white play-station, and addressing backwards compatibility with PS online.

I understand MS strategy...i just dont think turtle-ing worked this time. Sony was more nimble, and thus pulled out ahead this year. JMO

BlackTar1874363d ago

Preject Beast revel and the No Mans sky

HOW THE HELL IS NO ONE MENTIONING NO MANS SKY

Anyone who is a sci-fi fan should have went ape over that game. I hope you people change your toon around release.

I can't wait for it

cheetah4363d ago

It was an excellent e3 from all involved. This was about games and everyone delivered. MS has some nice exclusives, so does Sony, and the multiplats look excellent. For the record, I am a Sony person but you have to acknowledge that MS appear to be listening to their fans.

ThanatosDMC4363d ago (Edited 4363d ago )

KI but you dont mention the F2P games that Sony will release. Planetside 2.

I say MS had a slightly better show...
MS gets a B
SONY gets a B-

Though Sony's LBP 3 was a surprise, and there farcry 4 announcement was pretty huge... Even people that don't own the game can play FC4 co-op with you.
Wanted way more uncharted 4 and first party exclusives from Sony though

rdgneoz34364d ago

FC4 was announcement was sweet. Though I think one that amazed everyone was Grim Fandango remastered. That and No Man's Sky timed exclusive, that game looks amazing.

avengers19784364d ago

No mans sky does look sweet.

I know you guys are disagreeing but if you know my history I am a huge Sony fan, so I didn't take pleasure in saying I think MS had a SLIGHTLY better show.

InTheLab4364d ago

Seriously, I'm a PS gamer for the most part but I cannot believe people think Sony won or even did well at E3. It was well below Sony standard.

Multiplats, TV, apps, timed exclusives, exclusive dlc, and a handful of exclusives coming next year. Was like watching an MS conference.

Meanwhile, MS at least has games coming the rest of the year. Sony has what?

You fanboys are a joke.

Credit to MS for at least trying this year despite being killed in sales. They might catch up since Sony is clearly complacent...

LOL_WUT4364d ago (Edited 4364d ago )

Both did great but seeing MKX, Far Cry gameplay a sneak peak at Uncharted and announcing GT5 for the ps4 i'll have to slightly lean towards Sony. ;)

zeuanimals4364d ago

What up with the grappling hooks? First it's BF Hardline, then it's Rainbow Six Siege, and then Far Cry 4.

zeuanimals4364d ago (Edited 4364d ago )

InTheLab:

MS has games coming at the end of the year, but what have they had for the rest of it? They've had Titanfall in March and Kinect Sports Rivals in April, then nothing for 5 months until Forza Horizon 2.

They only have 3 games coming out for the rest of the year, Sunset Overdrive, Forza Horizon 2, and Halo Collection.

Sony has Driveclub, Helldivers, Planetside 2, Guilty Gear Xrd, and Oddworld still to come out and throughout the year they've already had inFAMOUS SS, MLB The Show, and FFXIV ARR.

Edit: Oh yeah, there's also LBP3 that comes out in November... So Sony has more games for the rest of this year and they've had more games throughout the year too.

Rocky54363d ago (Edited 4363d ago )

@zeuanimals

So 1 AAA racing game, a F2P game (these should not be on consoles) & 2 maybe 3 indi titles. (GG xrd is that released as an indie?)

If this was MS everyone would be laughing, but its Sony so it a a good thing?

Also I have to agree with a lot of people, the Sony conference was crap, sat up till 3:30am watching it, for what a few CGI trailers, most dire footage of games (The Order looking at you!) & stuff we already seen (I did NeoGaf) & TV, TV, TV, TV & TV oh new TV & TV peripheral. (LBP got me good though, but it doesn't look as good as the PS3 versions)

MS got slandered for a year due to the latter few. Sony get oh can't wait oO

All we heard for a year & 6 month is Games, Games, Games, Games that's what we want!!! Feck TV. Games! now we have TV & everyone is OK I can't wait for it!

I just don't get it, I really don't.

"but sony handed ms an ass kicking."

@King I would not absolutely not go that far. Sunset, Overdrive Halo remaster and Forza Horizon 2 are all coming out this holiday plus beta's to Halo 5 and Fable Legends.

I don't think Sony mentioned released dates for its games except for 2015 releases.

A bunch of indie focused (just like MS) some fun looking F2P games third party money hats (just like MS) the only thing that's really holding them back is a slow fall launch.

MS announced Platinum Games new Ip, Crack Down 3 and finally a brand new Phantom Dust as new games.

UC4 stole the show but doesn't equal a immediate win because they had TV, Youtube apps and all and stats talk.

I Dunno Sony's E3 was great but I think MS might a edge a win because they simply have more AAA's coming out this holiday.

rdgneoz34364d ago

"MS announced Platinum Games new Ip, Crack Down 3 and finally a brand new Phantom Dust as new games."

And Sony had Suda 51's new game, a new game from From Software, friends that didn't buy FC4 being able to play the game in co-op, LBP3, No Man's Sky timed (game looks amazing).

Bruce_Wayne4364d ago

I think LPB3 had a confirmed release date of November 2014 and July 29 for TLOU.

truefan14364d ago (Edited 4364d ago )

MSFT and it wasn't even close. MSFT showcased 3 games XB1 owners will be playing this fall, Sunset Overdrive, Halo Collection, and Forza Horizon 2, what did sony announce.

Also lets compare actual exclusive content.

XB1-Fable Legends, DR3 DLC, Sunset Overdrive, Halo Collection, Forza Horizon 2, Crackdown3, Scalebound, Phantom Dust, Project Spark, KI Season 2

ps4-lbp3, bloodborne, uncharted 4, driveclub, the
order.

PS are we really going to ignore statistics- statistics-statistics, tv-tv-tv, movie-movie-movie. MSFT showed games for 82/90 minutes

djplonker4364d ago (Edited 4364d ago )

ps4 list not made by an xbox fanboy

The order 1887

uncharted 4

Magicka 2

h1z1

bloodbourne

let it die

little big planet 3

no mans sky

Kingdom Under Fire 2

planetside 2

Grim Fandango

the last of us remastered

Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number

The Talos Principle

Entwined

Not a Hero

Everquest: next

ABZU

inFAMOUS: First Light (It's standalone)

Why is it my list is bigger than truefans I wonder?

Haxamin4364d ago

I like how you mention the Halo remaster, but not remasters for the last of us and Ratchet and Clank.

You mentioned DR3 DLC, but not infamous DLC.

You also ignored Entwined, Let it Die, ABZU, and Grim Fandango.

Nice try though.

MysticStrummer4364d ago

Standard truefan work. Easy to debunk.

Better luck next year, MS.

LeCreuset4364d ago

@djplonker

Notice how he also bolsters his list with dlc while not extending that same benefit to his Sony list? Dishonesty. That's how you can tell who he really thought had the better E3.

TheSaint4363d ago

I wish it was possible for people to lose their last bubble, you're so clueless and bias it's almost untrue.

At least get a little perspective instead of riding MS D the whole time, it's just sad.

Malphite4363d ago

Dude you are pathetic. Both shows were great and fairly even when it comes to content.

"MSFT and it wasn't even close. MSFT showcased 3 games XB1 owners will be playing this fall, Sunset Overdrive, Halo Collection, and Forza Horizon 2, what did sony announce."

LBP3, Infamous: First Light, The Last of US remastered

"Also lets compare actual exclusive content."

Funny how you are counting Dead Rising DLC but won't mention Infamous. Just like you mention the Halo collection but not he Last of us remaster. Double standards.

xKugo4363d ago

LOL, dude you're posting two pieces of crap DLC and a freaking closed beta ffs. I honestly don't know why people are listing KI and DR3 as AAA-games when they both incredibly under-whelmed(both on the visual and gameplay side). Speaking of AAA, are we back to calling Fable games great again, because last I checked the haven't even been decent since the original. Meanwhile, thought Sony didn't show alot of exclusives, what they did show matched and/or exceeded what Microsoft showed.

Let's tally up ALL exclusive content that has released this year, content coming later on and announced content for next year(since we're including DLC, let's include both sides DLC)

Microsoft:
Killer Instinct: Season 2(lol)
Project Spark
Halo Collection
Forza Horizon 2
Sunset Overdrive
Ori and the Blind Forest
Titanfall
Kinect Sports Rivals(lol)
Phantom Dust
Scalebound
Halo 5: Guardians
Crackdown 3

Sony:
Infamous: Second Son
Infamous First Light
MLB 14: The Show
FFXIV: ARR
TLOU: Remastered
#Driveclub
Planetside 2
The Order: 1886
Uncharted 4
H1Z1
Bloodbourne
Entwined
LetItDie!
Magicka 2
Little Big Planet 3
ABZU
Everquest: Next

Unless my math skills have plummeted, that's 17 exclusives for 2014-2015 for Sony, with 7 of those releasing this year. What about Microsoft? Well it's 12 exclsuives for Microsoft, with 6 releasing this year. Now I'm assuming everyone on this site can AT LEAST add, so I'm realyl wondering why people from both sides(PlayStation and Xbox) are saying that Xbox has more coming to it this year, when they clearly do not.

Hmm......

xKugo4363d ago

LOL, dude you're posting two pieces of crap DLC and a freaking closed beta ffs. I honestly don't know why people are listing KI and DR3 as AAA-games when they both incredibly under-whelmed(both on the visual and gameplay side). Speaking of AAA, are we back to calling Fable games great again, because last I checked the haven't even been decent since the original. Meanwhile, thought Sony didn't show alot of exclusives, what they did show matched and/or exceeded what Microsoft showed.

Let's tally up ALL exclusive content that has released this year, content coming later on and announced content for next year(since we're including DLC, let's include both sides DLC)

Microsoft:
Killer Instinct: Season 2(lol)
Project Spark
Halo Collection
Forza Horizon 2
Sunset Overdrive
Ori and the Blind Forest
Titanfall
Kinect Sports Rivals(lol)
Phantom Dust
Scalebound
Halo 5: Guardians
Crackdown 3

Sony:
Infamous: Second Son
Infamous First Light
MLB 14: The Show
FFXIV: ARR
TLOU: Remastered
#Driveclub
Planetside 2
The Order: 1886
Uncharted 4
H1Z1
Bloodbourne
Entwined
LetItDie!
Magicka 2
Little Big Planet 3
ABZU
Everquest: Next

Unless my math skills have plummeted, that's 17 exclusives for 2014-2015 for Sony, with 7 of those releasing this year. What about Microsoft? Well it's 12 exclusives for Microsoft, with 6 releasing this year. Now I'm assuming everyone on this site can AT LEAST add, so I'm realyl wondering why people from both sides(PlayStation and Xbox) are saying that Xbox has more coming to it this year, when they clearly do not.

Hmm......

Ps4 was a success

Project beast alone beats anything MS showed(i will call it project beast till it comes out lol)

but MS also had an amazing conference, easily better than last year. but sony brought just so much stuff

Cappyy4364d ago

Did you really say Entwined? HAHA the horrible looking game that looks like it took a week to make?

SuperBlunt4364d ago

they had probably the best e3 of all time if we are going by the games they had (including 3rd party)

DanteVFenris6664364d ago

@cappy you have absolutely no idea how to make games from that comment. I'm a student in computer scientist with a software background. With a small team your looking at 6-12 months. Look at a game engine, it's not easy and requires talent. I'm not interested in the game personally but I hate your comment on the work of hardworking individuals who may have pride in what they create

showtimefolks4364d ago

Cappyy

can you please make something similar in one week or how about one month or even 6 months?

AngelicIceDiamond4364d ago

"Project beast alone beats anything MS showed"

Weren't ppl crying about MS games being CGI? So Sony's one CGI game shown beats MS 3 CGI games that were shown?

Bennibop4363d ago

They did not even need to show driveclub and sing star which are both on the show floor.

I love sony as much as the next gamer, but I'd have to give it to MS.

For 30 mins there I was literally going to sleep while some executive was prattling on about zombie stats and the companies commitment.

Sony had a great start and a great finish, but momentum just hit a brick wall in the middle there.

And correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe MS announced more games.

Both conferences were disappointing, but MS takes the win imo.

MRMagoo1234364d ago

"And correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe MS announced more games" K consider yourself corrected because they didnt.

maniacmayhem4364d ago

@JessupJ

I wouldn't give it to anyone yet as Nintendo hasn't shown what they have in store yet.

But I agree so far MS gets it...but by one point. Like in Baseball, one point walk off. For the life of me I wonder why gameplay wasn't shown for Bloodborne, wasn't that already leaked online. It would have been great to show gameplay and actually show it being a Demon's Soul successor or such.

No Man's Sky was the best thing Sony showed but that game is timed so it doesn't matter.

Both companies showed off exclusive and timed DLC for multiplats which will be the new thing to do going into this new generation.

But as I stated above both shows were very underwhelming. I blame it on pre E3 hype as we all get tangled up in leaks, rumors and lists of what we all want to see.

I wanted MS to show Battletoads, I didn't get that. I wanted Sony to show God of War or that new GG IP, I didn't get that.

I better get a WiiU Starfox and Zelda from Nintendo or else.

user56695104364d ago

Both lost. Both was filled with time exclusives and time dlc. Why do people like this. Sequels? I wanted some new that was mind blowing. Every thing from each was lacklustering even ea and ubisoft. Each press conference had like one thing and all the rest we been know.

UC4 looked good, can't get enough of it. But I'm not seeing a reason to buy a new gen console. Sequels , things I can play somewhere else better, and nickel and diming.

AngelicIceDiamond4364d ago

I'll be playing Sunset Overdrive, maybe FH 2 and the Halo remasters this holiday. Later Fable Legends, Halo 5 and Quantum Break.

Won't be a lost moment for my X1 this holiday and next year.

Plus MS has 2 unannounced games tomorrow wonder what those could be.

mediate-this4363d ago

Go on n say micro showed games we already knew, then go on and me tion somy won by showing games we too already knew.

rainslacker4363d ago (Edited 4363d ago )

Out of everything I've seen so far(haven't watched the Ubi or EA conference), Batman is the most next-gen looking game I've seen. The order I can't say, as the lights were turned up in the theater while they were playing it, which made it look bad.:(

Otherwise, why buy a new console? Sunset Overdrive looks like a lot of fun. Ori seems to be intriguing. Lots of F2P games on PS4 that are looking good. LBP3 if you're into that kind of thing. I'm sure there are more I'm forgetting, but it's almost 4am.

Thatguy-3104364d ago

Microsoft had game after game but they were games we already had seen running. Sunset and a two indies were good but Sony had Uncharted, LBP3, No mans sky, The order etc. heck the multiplatform games they showed had a better presence too.

AceBlazer134364d ago

This shouldn't even be a serious question. Sony killed it. Like seriously what year does Microsoft think it is? This is 2014, that cgi fest just can't cut it. Not to mention the majority of Microsoft's conference got announced before today. Meanwhile Sony surprised us back to back. LBP3, who was expecting this after MM said they wouldn't show? No man's sky, Uncharted, actual gameplay for multiplats we want, GTA V reveal. Sony killed it no questions.

kenshiro1004364d ago

Wait, hold on Lab, did we watch the same conference? Pretty sure Sony announced some new IPs. Pretty sure their conference didn't consist of CGIs and showed actual gameplay.

monkey6024364d ago

Sony just repeated every single mistake Microsoft made last year. I wanted Sony to blow it out of the water but damn I have to say Microsoft killed them this year

nope1114364d ago

I dislike the Xbox brand, but they owned Sony this E3....

Sony friggin' showed T.V. and movie crap at a GAMES conference, seriously? WTF Sony? and the Vita got shafted yet again.

Being a proud Vita owner, i found this downright insulting.

Rivitur4364d ago

I don't even.... nice troll though

Steppenwolfmother4364d ago

Its not a games conference. Its an etertainment expo. E3 = electronic etertainment expo.

rainslacker4363d ago (Edited 4363d ago )

I agree with you on the Vita part, but not the rest of your comment. They both spent the same amount of time on games.

For the Vita though, outside some cross-platform stuff, not a single Vita game announcement. Seems that may have been a good thing to show after announcing VitaTV coming out this Fall. You know...get people excited for the Vita by showing that it actually does have games.

Woulda been better than some mafia looking guy(who someone called the Kingpin in the theater) talking about some media adapted off some comic that has no mainstream recognition whatsoever.

@Tim

Right. How is media content(liken it to a TV show) an electronic entertainment. Would we consider Netflix original programming electronic entertainment? They weren't even really talking about the delivery mechanism, but trying to showcase that they have exclusive media content. Look, I'm all for exclusive content, media, games, or otherwise, but the people watching this show are 99% gamers.

MS didn't get a free pass on this, and I don't think Sony should either. Show that stuff at places where the audience cares about it, like ComicCon or something.

iceman064363d ago

They might not have shown Vita games. But, they showed something that might bolster the production of Vita games in Vita TV. That just might get developers to get more devoted to actually developing Vita titles.

rainslacker4363d ago

@ice

And I find that a problem. Sony is relegating the PSV to a accessory device to push other services. They aren't trying to give it it's own identity to work off of and then adding in the other stuff later.

I know the Vita support is there. I keep up with what's coming for the Vita. The Vita does get a good variety of games. I know these things. But Sony does a piss poor job of showing people that this is the case. Vita is getting Minecraft....whoop-de-sh*t.

+ Show (2) more repliesLast reply 4363d ago
tuglu_pati4364d ago

I have to give it to MS on this one.

ConfettiYeti4364d ago (Edited 4364d ago )

Both Microsoft and Sony had good overall conferences.

Microsoft hit us with game after game after game. And although a majority of it was third party it was refreshing.

Sony on the other hand has a lot of other things going on. Still supporting the PS3, Vita, announcing the Vita TV. All was great, with a helping dose of games spread out. But the 30 minute snooze fest really dampened a great start and good ending.

Both get a B or 7/10 from me. I was glad to see Microsoft just come in and slam game after game. And I was glad to see Sony still show support for the vita and FINALLY announce Vita TV for the west. Both lacked enoighbig announcements for me to declare one better than the other.

Alright Nintendo, you are literally the little engine that "maybe" could. I am hoping to see good things from you, but I am not holding my breath.

monkey6024364d ago

Still supporting the vita and ps3 is a stretch. Outside of playstation now there is no real love heading those directions which I'm disappointed by.

ConfettiYeti4364d ago

A stretch? 100 games in development for Vita is no stretch. And the PS3 is still getting love. Like usual Sony does not abandon a console right out the Gate if a new console launch.

But whatever helps you sleep at night.

monkey6024364d ago

Helps me sleep at night?!
I bought a vita back in March. I adore it. However I want games tailor made for it. Not another systems scraps. I have my ps3 since launch and still do. Bought a ps4 on launch and love it. I didn't buy a ps4 to play games I owned on the ps3 though same goes for the vita.
I really enjoyed microsofts conference even if it's because most of the games they showed I'll be playing on my ps4. I wanted to see new announcements and we got very few. Not one exclusive vita or ps3 game just more multiplats.
Going by your logic though I must be a fanboy for another system because of my disappointment, even if I don't own another brands system

ConfettiYeti4364d ago

I never called you a fanboy. But if you'd like that title then accept it and wear it with pride. I too own a Vita and PS4, but I am not looking for "Tailor made" games. I am plenty contempt with all my indies I have on it.

I think Microsoft conference was good, but very safe. I think Sonys conference was good, but bogged down with TV.

Sony is releasing the remastered editions for gamers who never got a chance to play them on the PS3. Personally, I love it. But these things highlight our differences as gamers. But I understand the irritation with wanting new IP's or surprises. Like I said Both Sony and Microsoft did not do enough.

Of course you will say Sony... Even if they do win... You work for Sony LOL
Moreover look what you just posted? You mentioned Sony TV etc...
Now imagine for one second if MS announced non gaming features as much as Sony did with this E3 and we all know what you would be saying about MS E3?
:-p

JBSleek4364d ago

You faulted MS for not having any surprises but what did Sony announce that we didn't know about either? They had more exclusive indies...

Also talked for 40 minutes about nothing.

Also what games are coming out THIS holiday season on PS4?

Fine but in your world you think PS4 won because you have to validate that purchase right?

MRMagoo1234364d ago

I didnt know LBP3 was coming to ps4 and I didnt know gta5 was coming either, Sony announced a bunch of new games, I dont know what show you watched (my guess was just MS looking at all your biased comments in your history) but sony killed it. Ms was not even close to as many unknown games shown. Everything MS showed we knew was coming.

Rocky54363d ago

@MRMagoo123

LBP3 I was shocked at but GTAV nah, we all new it was coming. God I was hoping sooner :-( & it's not just coming to PS4 XB1, PS4 & probably PC.

As for cyber stalking folk that's creepy.

Mystogan4364d ago

Microsoft won hands down.

Not even you PS4 fanboys can keep denying that.

SoulSercher6204364d ago

Won hands down? Uncharted alone will blow anything Microsoft brings to the table.

Haki11124363d ago

@Soulsercher620 I love the Uncharted series but you should be slapped with an Xbox One controller for that comment.

calis4364d ago

PS Now beta for everyone, Far Cry 4 playable if you don't own the game, new Ratchet & Clank, Uncharted 4, The Order, Bloodborne, TLOU remake, LBP3 etc.

Beats the hell out of Halo, more Halo, more Forza, more Crackdown and a couple of other exclusives.
Nothing that says I want a XB1

mediate-this4363d ago

Sony does the same formula, tlou, tlou remastered, uc, ratchet, like come on, sony has as many sequels as micro.

rainslacker4363d ago

I kinda got a kick out of that Far Cry 4 sharing announcement. The series itself never interested me, but when they did that it was like Sony saying, "See how easy this is MS?". Sitting in the theater around a bunch of Sony fans, it was obvious they knew the implication of what had just been announced. Game looked pretty fun too.:)

The using your 360 GTA5 data on the PS4 version was another low blow, and seemed to be showing that they knew people were switching over.

Granted, both those things may not be actual Sony's doing, but they took advantage of it.

However, you shouldn't underestimate the Halo:MCC. That's a pretty big thing, and it looks good and has tons of content. I think MS showed enough to get people to want the system. Overall they had a great show. I feel Sony overall had a great show too.

imt5584364d ago (Edited 4364d ago )

Sony and Microsoft played well. Little praise to Sony.

BUT FACTS! And this is pointed to ALL XBONE FANS who thinks that Microsoft brins ONLY GAMES, GAMES, GAMES.

Sony SHOWED THE SAME AMOUNT OF GAMES LIKE MICROSOFT.

Sony : 22 Games
Microsoft 22 games

So, GTFO with GAMES, GAMES, GAMES story!!!

bennissimo4363d ago

Sony showed more multiplats, though.

If we're gonna be counting such things.

Automatic794364d ago (Edited 4364d ago )

@thrash

You know if it was MS talking about YouTube, TV, stats, movies you would have called it a fail.

LordMaim4364d ago

While no show really was stellar, Sony won by a lot.

I mean, Grim Fandango!

A ton of other exclusive games too, but also Grim Fandango!

...and it's exclusive!

calis4364d ago

Grim Fandango will be timed exclusive.

LordMaim4362d ago

@calis: Microsoft didn't exactly fall all over themselves to make it happen for their fans, but they're always glad to capitalize on the efforts of others. Sounds about right.

sgtGanGreen4363d ago

I was bored to death until 8 seconds of Uncharted 4

choujij4363d ago (Edited 4363d ago )

OP. Agreed.

Mr-Dude4363d ago

When did this become a competition? First we got the gloom and doom articles for weeks, and now we got the "who won crap". Sony and Microsoft where both "okay"... nothing more!

There was one game, that stood out of everything and that was No Man's Sky. They are my winners

xboxftw4363d ago

Look at them fanboys taking sides. We won the guys who love playing games. We are getting games for any console we want to play on. Stupid answers above from one camp or another. If they had not shown games and only touted features or upcoming updates than we fight but both companies showed games coming exclusive or shared but still games.

callahan094363d ago (Edited 4363d ago )

Both of Microsoft & Sony had excellent shows this year.

They both provided about 1.5 hours of games.

I appreciate the extra .5 hour that Sony threw at us to explain some of the social features, some of the multimedia features, the mention of Morpheus, the discussion of the Powers TV show (personally, I love comics, I love that particular comic, and I am super excited for this show, so while it wasn't gaming specific, it was PlayStation specific and there's absolutely nothing wrong with devoting *a little* time to talking about those benefits and features of owning the console). I also even liked the announcement of the PSTV, I will definitely be getting one so I can play my PS4 on the other TV in my house because sometimes I just can't monopolize the living room TV where the PS4 is actually hooked up. Very cool idea.

Most complaints I'm hearing about E3 are just silly statements about Sony spending too much time not talking about games, but really, who cares, it was just extra time tacked on to their show, because E3 has *never* been about just showing game after game, they have always given us a little bit of an overview of what we can expect the console to provide for us in all facets of multimedia, and I'm OK with them devoting a little time to that, and kind of wish Microsoft would have done the same. The 1.5 hours devoted to GAMES was still amazing, and equalled what Microsoft gave us, just with that little bit extra on top. You might call it boring, but I call it informative and an important piece of the PlayStation puzzle, a piece which also exists over on Microsoft's side of things, except that they just decided not to talk about it, which isn't exactly helpful.

Games shown looked amazing on both platforms. The announcements of getting remade games in Ratchet & Clank and Grim Fandango were both shocking and really, super cool. Bloodborne wins my most anticipated game award, for certain. The Order 1886 looks absolutely flipping fantastic as well. It actually looks INTENSE. One single enemy providing that kind of an intense, dramatic experience where you really FEAR that your character won't be able to survive, that's just something ELSE and I LOVED it!

Sunset Overdrive and an exclusive Platinum game over on Xbox are both super cool, as is the Halo collection with remade Halo 2.

LittleBigPlanet will always have a spot in my heart, and the fact we will get it this year is really a pleasant surprise, and the fact that we can play every single level ever published from the first 2 games just makes it all the more awesome.

All in all, there is a lot to look forward to on both consoles.

4363d ago
JsonHenry4363d ago

MS did NOTHING but games. Even though I don't own an xbox1 and probably never will I have to say that Sony spent less time and was a lot less game focused than MS. Given this is a games convention I would have to say that MS did a better job this year.

But if I was going to give an award for best conference Ubisoft would get my vote above them all. They're smart enough to hire a charismatic actress, show their games being played, and give a little insight from the devs as well.

Gamer19824363d ago

Depends on what games you preferred at the conference if you wanted to see another halo halo remake and another forza you would go MS. If you prefer UC4 and blood bourne you would pick Sony.. Sony had the filler so wasn't all games but what swung it for me PERSONALLY was the far cry 4 co-op feature of inviting friends who do not have the game to play alongside with you. like the feature only currently available on nintendo portable systems right now..
Its impossible to pick a winner based on anything other than personal preference anybody who says different is lying to themselves and others. Maybe a game you was looking forward to didn't show up?? GTA V surely helped Sony too especially the ability to import 360 characters so those switching for 360 have no reason to worry.. I am getting GTA V for PS4 :)

geddesmond4363d ago

Honestly, none of them won including us gamers. There was a few good games announced by both but it just feels like everything is a long way off. It's like we don't have much choice on what to buy that developers are feeding us what we have to play. Do I want to play the witcher 3 and The order 1886? Hell yeah of course I do but now I'm gonna have to if I want something to play. If you know what I mean.

Copen4363d ago

Project Beast AKA BloodBorne is better than ANYTHING MS SHOWED. Check out Neogaf you'll see real game play for the game. Everything MS showed was a negative and here's why. They showed CGI trailers with graphics cards that the Xbox one simply can't match so in typical MS fashion they put trailer out that will look nothing like the games they're releasing it's basically false advertising. On top of that they should've been embarrassed to trot out all the halo rehashes that's simply embarrassing. Then it was let's pad our show with 3rd party games we couldn't buy exclusive which is ironic since EVERYTHING multiplat will run and look better on the PS4. They paid for timed DLC like people in the real world would rather have early DLC than the better version of a game. MS tanked plain and simple remakes, timed DLC,CGI that'll never look like the finished product, and all 2015 and beyond because there will be delays into 2016. All in all yeah MS focused on games games games just not their own games drop the mic.

BullyMangler4363d ago

nintendo just won E3 .. < fact

deafdani4363d ago

For once... and just for this once... I agree with you. Nintendo absolutely KILLED it.

However, all of the Big Three actually had pretty damn solid showings this year. I think this is the best E3 I've seen in a looooooooooong time.

osprey194363d ago

Can anyone honestly tell me if Microsoft done what Sony did (the banging on about tv and movies) that alot of you wouldn't have slated them for it? We all know you would. That's the biased i hate. I knw Microsoft cocked up last year, but this year they made true on their promise, games, games, games. Only one kinect game and one mention of a show. Like i said Sony went 30 mins about tv, if Microsoft did that ud be all over them for it.

killzone6194363d ago (Edited 4363d ago )

I love how all of MS multiplayer exclusives are running on dedicated servers. Deffo makes paying for online worth the money.

im most excited for "Halo MCC" and "Forza H2". But for Ps4 im excited for "The order" and "No mans Sky".

bennissimo4363d ago

Crackdown confirmation and Halo Collection details did it for me. Sony didn't make me any more excited for the PS4 games I already knew about, and they didn't make me give much of a damn about anything new. Multiplat reveals don't count.

In fact, I found myself digging MS's indies more than Sony's. Ironic.

Matt6664363d ago

why should you care, that right you shouldn't, all you should care about is the great games that are going to be released.

otherZinc4363d ago

Where in the world is Drive Club?

Pogmathoin4363d ago

Who won? Gamers clearly did..... If you have X1, plenty to look forward to, if you own PS4, plenty to look forward to...... If your going to spend time debating this, you are lost..... They both showed non stop games, and nothing to really blow your mind like other years..... No mans sky is awesome looking though.....

Losso-Oso4363d ago (Edited 4363d ago )

@nicksetzer1:
"@kingtrash so games from last E3 (as well as shortly following events, tgs, vga, gamescom etc) dont count? In that case.

Xbox - platinum games game, crackdown, phantom dust, halo collection.
PS - Bloodbourne, tlou remastered, little big 3.

Same result, however, not sure why you want to completely skip upcoming games?"

You are missing quite a few from the Sony list my friend. if the parameters are that the game was not there last year don't count, or games from following events do not also count, then you are missing a few like:

Uncharted 4, Grim fandango, Entwined, Let it die and Abzu. These five are all completely exclusive to the PS4 and were not previewed or talked about last year.

Both had extremely impressive showings, both showed 90 minutes of games, Sony just added an extra 30 minutes of TV/PSVTV/Morphious/PSN and other random stuff that Sony does every year.

If you ask me, they both get a score of a B from me, Microsoft gets extra points for being cordial and being about the games only, while getting points deducted for using way too much CG and not nearly enough gameplay.

Sony gets points for having some truly surprising moments (my wife went nuts when LBP3 went up on the screen as did I) like LBP#, Grim Fandango and that amazing, and I can't stress that enough, amazing No Man's Sky demo/walkthrough. While getting points deducted for that horrible and I do mean horrible lull when they started talking about the other stuff.

All in all, I say Sony and Microsoft are tied With a solid B grade. If you put a gun to my head I would say Nintendo actually did a bit better.

lelo4363d ago (Edited 4363d ago )

Microsoft had a better conference then Sony... in my humble opinion.

As for Nintendo, I didn't see their conference, but heard they had a good show.

trancefreak4363d ago

I have not seen the MS conference yet but would I do know about the Sony conference was this. Games! All types of different games; especially ones where you don't have a gun in your hand aimlessly shooting enemies which a lot of fans have grown tired of. Albeit I do like FPS games, but we know there focus seems to capture all types of different gamers whom desired uniqueness. Thats what Son's ps2 did and I am seeing the trend now on the PS4 along with the heavy hitting blockbuster games that will appear later on.

I think Sony's conference was a lot more about the creativity of many different Genres which bods well for the PS4 daring to try something new. I know this will please a lot of gamers whom grown tired of the same rinse recycle repeat stuff every year.

I was disappointed that I didn't see drive club perhaps Gran Turismo but Sony soes have a gaming schedule to adhere to so more on the other announcements later this year and E3 2015. I am assuming we will see some stuff at PAX or GDC; most likely Guerrillas' new game in Europe. Can't wait for these titles and this Gen looks promising.

The winner of this conference to me would be Sony since I am a only a PS4 owner. I need to go watch MS conference to make a fair statement but I won't lie I am A Sony, Pc gamer so that is what really matters to me.

As far as quality of games, Sony. In terms of sitting through talking in between games (Powers?) Microsoft - I like how they hit you with game after game.
But they couldn't compete with Sony's offerings.

GarrusVakarian4364d ago

Omg...powers was so bad. I mean....who the heck thought it would be a good idea to let that dude talk about that TV show for THAT long? Talk about bad pacing.

They for sure chose the worst way to deal with it

Funny considering Bruce left half way through development and now we get told there was an internal conflict with the story direction.

Makes you think…

HectixRose22d ago

I think it was good decision, if he was still alive, he would have been a mascot just like Kratos, drake and many others. These old dudes gotta die for new characters to take center stage with their own storyline. They keep dragging the emotional baggage into many sequels and eventually the story just turns into absolute shit show.

JEECE22d ago

It was ironic because people complained heavily about the story in the Uncharted games not having sufficient stakes because all the key characters always survived, despite the dangerous situations they were always in. Then ND killed a character in a more serious series and everyone lost their minds. Just shows that people don't always really want the thing they say they want.

CantThinkOfAUsername22d ago

I thought the more common complaint about Uncharted franchise was how the main cast are the good guys acting so nonchalantly while killing hundreds in cold blood (aka the dissonance between gameplay and story cutscenes). They just did it again in Part II.

Soy22d ago

Didn't have to kill him. Just have them part ways or Joel can "retire," whatever.

DarXyde22d ago

I don't think he would necessarily need to become a mascot (and besides, technically, I'd say Ellie is... So regardless, someone was going to be).

From a narrative perspective, I do think it has a similar effect to Ricky dying in Boyz N Da Hood: very likeable character, and you're really motivated to see the get back—in this case, it's more intense because it's an interactive experience. Most people hated Abby, but I get what they were after with portraying the cycle of violence and revenge—unfortunately, the game appears to want to take the side of the bad people.

But I will say that if Joel survived, it does become harder to tell an interesting story. What COULD have happened is an exploration into the rift between Joel and Ellie after the trolley dilemma events of the first game. It could have been interesting to see Abby out for revenge at the same time Ellie hated Joel.

Sorry just had to say this lol! RICKYYYY!

Man Cuba Gooding Jr was miscast in that movie, but that part was cringey it was sad and funny at the same time man.

Ashunderfire8622d ago (Edited 22d ago )

I understand but the way they went about killing Joel, was poorly executed. Even the show of the Last of Us games tried to improved it, but it was just as bad. Well at least Joel got to know the reason why he had to die, before the death happened in the show. That part gave us the full context, but the game just let it happen with no pay off.

Joel death should have been a midway thing through the story, so we at least get to play him a little more with Ellie. Abby didn’t need to be this Hulk looking woman, but more like the show Abby which is a beater idea in my opinion.

The only ND game that was so disappointing to me I couldn't finish it.

pwnmaster300022d ago

Honestly as much as I loved the game, they could have just not killed him off.
I get it creator vision and all but killing a character that made you millions is just wrong imo. At least have him go down fighting.

Look I know VIII has its issues and all that but how on earth can the do big anniversary events with new artwork and merchandise for VII, IX and X yet VIII got sweet f*** all.

They could have given it something during its 25th anniversary yet all it got was a single Happy Anniversary post on their social media.

solideagle22d ago

they should know that we are OG fans of VIII as it sold truckload as well. not as much as VII or X. I personally didn't like IX but X and VI are my personal fav.

Shadow Hearts 2 covenant is another game I love. I hope one day someone can make remake, I would be delighted
