Hmm, while Microsoft is playing catching up and fixing earlier made problems Sony is playing their game and probably will have some surprises. Nevertheless I cannot wait to see what all parties might come up with.

I really dont know why some of you are acting like MS never shows up at E3. Last years E3 was an amazing show, some awesome games were showed. All the negativity just clouded how good the actual presentation was for them. This year going into it with a much better plate they can certainly win over ALOT of gamers.

I believe both MS & Sony will have killer announcements that will pretty much make every console owner extremely happy they chose the hardware they did :)

I don't see any 1 game that's going to achieve that. Be it Halo 5 or Uncharted 4.

As long as games that used to be multiplatform don't turn out to be exclusive or timed exclusive then all is well. E3 should be about what makes a console better, not about making another console worse.

A killing blow would require the PS4 to be on the ground and the X1 to be on top. Sony has a much better momentum while MS had to reverse one thing after another to stay somewhat in arms reach.

All i want to see is great games from both, with some decent surprises tossed in.

To make a "coup de grâce" it is first necessary to be able to hand a "weapon" and stand at "superior position" over your enemy, thus far Microsoft have no place in such act...

The biggest blow i can think of, is if they lock down Resident Evil or Mass Effect or Battlefront for temporary exclusivity on the One , 360 and PCs, sorta like Titanfall, but we'll see.

I hope not. While I openly admit that I like my XB1 more than my PS4 or Wii U (or PC), I truly feel that what is best for gamers is competition. If any of the game companies start to feel too comfortable the will lose motivation to produce the goods. So I would like an impressive showing from MS (and Sony and floor show by Nintendo), but not enough to deliver a "killer blow"

I'm not even sure what a killer blow would be. It'd have to be that cloud works to full potential that day, along with DX12 providing the highest end of benefit predicted, along with XB1 securing a HUGE line of must have exclusives...also dropping the Kinectless price to $350 and Kinected price to $399 or something like that. It'd really take a miracle for any company to deliver the other a killer blow at E3. They have big enough fan bases that they'd still have at least another year to make a comeback from whatever happens at E3. Either way, Sony has the better straw pull again. They can watch MS's conference and then adjust their show accordingly. That way they don't have to over promise right away, and then they can only deliver what they have to. MS can't really call their bluff, unless they save major announcements for the floor of E3 on the last day.

I'm not sure that should be their true goal for E3...work like you have that motivation, sure, but for gamers ...we really shouldn't want that.

Unless they can magically make Sony's first party studios disappear, there won't be any "killer blows" to be seen from Microsoft. MS needs to step up their game and really start pumping out some good quality exclusive stuff and keep at it. It's not enough to buy a handful for the first 5 years and then rely on the sequels of same old IPs, like they did last gen. A few 3rd party exclusives won't do much in the long run.

Sony needs to start releasing more games too, but the difference to MS is that Sony has more developers who will deliver with the good stuff all throughout the PS4s life cycle. They've done it 3 gens in a row, and it's just a matter of time until they get up to speed after the usual slow start.

The PS4 is the trend of this generation. This is not the last generation, where the Xbox 360 was out a year before the PS3 and was a lot easier to make games.

The author will be disappointed when there will be a few Kinect games. Microsoft first party have been working on them for a while and dropping Kinect doesn't mean the games have been cancelled.

Anyone who thinks that Microsoft will put Sony away is delusional. Sony has been doing gaming longer and better than MS. MS will leave the industry before Sony does.

I like the line that "Microsoft is listening to fans now." It's one of those things that is supposed to be a compliment, but it's actually an insult. Like saying they're not the a-holes that they used to be, so that's a plus, right?

The real problem is that what Microsoft thinks is going to be a killer blow versus what would actually be a killer blow are two different things. They thought TV integration was going to be a killer feature. They thought the Kinect would revolutionize gaming. They thought that Titanfall was going to be the end-all be-all of shooters and propel the XB1 to first place.

Another Halo, another Gears of War, and a TV/Game hybrid? That's going to be the killer blow from MS?

And let's be clear. Sony did not kill Microsoft at last year's E3. Microsoft killed themselves and Sony just stood quietly on the sidelines and let it happen. All Sony did was say they were staying the course.

Xbox One has a mediocre lineup of games that cater to casual gamers. Why would anyone expect Microsoft to have some sort of spectacular presentation at E3 when they are clearly still trying to turn the Xbox One into a set-top-box. Sure they'll have the same old games like Halo, Gears Of War, and the like, but I also expect Microsoft to continue pushing television, television, television and programs to go along with that push. Those who don't learn from history will definitely repeat it.

Cant think of a killer blow, but if MS gave away free backwards compatibility it would destroy PS Now from a financial stand point. Sony paid a lot for that tech , and if the competitor released a free version it would crush any chance to recoup that money. Which is something Sony really can't afford.

I believe that healthy competition between platforms is good for us as gamers in the end. But MS really does seem to have lost touch with their audience. The more they try to regain any trust, they do something stupid or flip-flop on an ideal they spent so much time trying to convince people on. Sony has so many amazing first party studios, and we don't know what most of them have been up to. With how quiet they've been in the last couple months about games. I think we're going to be very satisfied.

My understanding is that Sony is still worth more than 30 BILLION DOLLARS... they are not going anywhere... and the gaming division is strong.

Microsoft needs to pull out the big guns. They really need to show off some new big AAA IPs that are exclusive to xbox one to give us a reason to own it. Right now I see no reason to buy an xbox one when I already have the more powerful ps4 and I was a ps3/360 owner. If the only thing they pull out is sequel after sequel it's going to be hard for them to compete. Also right now their is a lot of people that feel like they're kind of abandoning kinect. It would be wise of them to show something that really shows off the kinects capabilities to reassure early adopters that, yeah, that 100 dollar camera is more than just an elaborate microphone.

Microsoft isn't in the position to deliver a "killing blow". Their position right now is to gain the trust back from their consumers. That includes listening to them, making their platform better than what it was, and bringing good games. They need to regain dominance in North America, otherwise the division could be spun off. All Microsoft has is bad, self serving ideas. The whole tenor of this generation for MS was "force the consumer to eat our bad ideas" But, unlike their Windows product, they are not the only game in town, and they are up against a strong Incumbent that knows the console business inside and out.
Microsoft got their A$$e$ handed to them by not only it's customers but, it's competitor with a much more experienced hold on the industry. That is why when people say "Sony didn't do anything but what they always do" rather than following MS and it's partners down that consumer unfriendly path, That is Proof of Sony's seasoned experience and understanding of the industry that they have over MS.

Thus, even though the short sighted seem to think that Sony did nothing they are wrong, they stuck to a business plan that has Never failed them. Smart and experienced won Over Arrogant and entitled. Kudos to Sony for Knowing what was Right.

It'd take a MASSIVE, world-shaking announcement to even faze Sony right now, and Microsoft certainly won't do any kind of killing blow other than killing people's high expectations. The Sony restructuring will start taking effect soon and the PS brand, who are already ahead, will be leaner, meaner and more game-focused. The pressure is on Microsoft to impress, while Sony just needs to maintain their momentum, which they easily can with some good announcements at E3. What MS I hope is going too do is preview a lot of x1 only games and MS hope's that 360 gamers will transition over too the x1. The PS4 is in a much better position right now than the One. A killer blow would be impossible. A move that could close the gap is possible, so I'm intrigued enough to find out what MS has up their sleeve, but they can't operate on the assumption that Sony has nothing planned. If anything, all Sony needs is a massive announcement, and they'll have a killer blow in the pipeline. MS's best bet is to raise their shields to help deflect it.

Microsoft need to go back to the old IP's , look into the Rare catalog, maybe secure a 3rd party....Securing Star Wars Battlefront would be a huge coup and help sales, A new Mechassault, Crimson Skies, Jade Empire, Brute Force, or a new Battletoads, Kameo, Perfect Dark, Conker from the Rare catalog,.....Halo and Forza are not going to keep them afloat.

EA's create ip's only for X1, excluding PS4, yet its also for PC.
The only big news I could see is MS opening their own game studio and making new unique ip, and they're in beta stage. Yet its unlikely since MS like to buy the ip than create their own, less risk for MS, in addition MS is also taking a jab against PS4 with they "buy" other Companies ip for a short period of time.

Xbox One had the superior games lineup last year, and still does.

I'm sure Sony will tout their fictional sales figures, and put a heavy emphasis on PSN+. They'll also either try to convince people the Vita is not dead or they'll ignore it entirely. If they do the latter then the system is done for in NA.

MS has one potential Ace Card they could play that would completely counter PSN+ if they play their cards right. However since I'm not sure if what I'm talking about is technically feasible, I'm just going to say this last part is all my own personal speculation.

Microsoft's conference last year blew Sony's out of the water. Sony "won" because at the last 5 minutes they said NO DRM and everyone went nuts, which made everyone forget just how superior MS's conference was compared.

As we contemplate E3 and MS future offerings - I fear that as time goes on MS will chip away at our memory of 2013 E3.

Wuchang is great. Nine Sols didn’t have a physical copy so I never played it but I’ve heard good things so I will check it out. I stopped playing sports games many years ago when before the card dlc’s or whatever they’re called.
