Pretty sure I heard this before. Last year, the year before, and the year before.

So not a killer blow but better performance.

ThePope4382d ago

MS had a much better showing last year. Outside of DRM and Online check in, they focused on AAA games. Sony on the reverse did what they've done since launch, talk about indies.

Sony won in peoples mind because they didn't have restrictive policies. But they didn't have any games to talk about either.

SasukeX164382d ago

Games don't have to have millions of dollars packed into it for it to be good. I

Concertoine4382d ago

I would have to agree, although both had an over abundance of CGI trailers.

Mega244382d ago

What you failed to realize is that sony showed their launch line up and console in February when they announced the console, so they would have gone to E3 showed the same and be bitched by you again for not showing new stuff...

They showed a few new games, announced a few in development, and showed off the load of indie's they had coming to their 3 platforms, an the obviously gave a few jabs towards MS policies, and in the end, won because their machine was a better built one at a $100 cheaper price tag. That's what really happened at E3 2013, Microsoft need to rebuild their rep with most gamers, and re-organize Microsoft Studios, because some of their employees don't really know the gaming community, at least Phil Spencer is heading now, his doing what matters.

TKCMuzzer4382d ago (Edited 4382d ago )

It's no use announcing games if you can't sell your console and policies to the fans in the first place.
Also, can you please let me know one of those true Xbox One exclusives released so far in 2014.......

Showing and delivering are two different things.

Summons754382d ago

No they talked about spending millions on titles they didn't announce aside from Titanfall, Quantum Break. One of which was meh and the other we haven't heard about since then. Oh they also told us the obvious that Halo games will be on Xbox One from then on. They talked about indies and indies proceeded to hate them and favor the WiiU and Ps4 for being simple to put on on.

Microsoft could of had a very surprising E3 but they already announced the show stealers...

Master-H4382d ago

That's because Sony announced most of their AAA titles in the February ps4 reveal, Microsoft on the other hand..the reveal was all Tv tv Sports Television water cooler TV, if i remember correctly, so they had all the games left for E3.

pyramidshead4382d ago (Edited 4382d ago )

LOL

Sony had their hardware reveal at one of the most important gaming events of the year in front of thousands of gamers watching and even more streaming. Not to mention threw curve balls with the policies thing, the viral youtube video about sharing and last but not least, price!

All killer blows. I'm pretty sure Sony wouldn't have had it any other way. Plus Sony showed games back in February for crying out loud.

Muerte24944382d ago

@Concertoine,

There are considered to be target renders rather than CGI. Going to Sony's retail release track record, people seem to be hitting and surpassing them.
The same thing goes for Insomniac and Sunset Overdrive. Console loyalty aside, that game looks like an absolute blast. If it's a success you can guarantee that we'll see it on PS4 since Insomniac has control over the IP. Here hoping that game does well on Xbox One.
We can expect Microsoft to have COD:AW on stage for them. While Sony will have Bungie's Destiny at their presser. 343 Industries and Black Tusk may show their upcoming IPs. But Sony just has too many games to counter anything shown by Microsoft.

"PS4's Uncharted looks better than The Order:1886...." -Thuway

SoapShoes4382d ago

Sony showed off games in February an saved stuff for Gamescom which Microsoft did not show up for. If they had showed EVERYTHING at E3 it would have been too much for one conference. Anyway last year Microsoft said the same thing and they failed to do that and in the past few years aside from last year they haven't had a good show at all. I don't think either will have a beatdown like last year though. You only get that if one company screws up royally.

hellzsupernova4382d ago

Sony showed more games. The ps4 has had a new game practically every week, the xbox has had to wait between titanfall and wolfenstien when there was nothing to play.

Give me the indies to fill in between AAA anyday.

You have to remember if there are no indies there are not more AAA it does not work like that

S2Killinit4382d ago

MS always has its strongest support for gaming at the begining of each generation, then it goes downhill from there. Why? because they BUY exclusives, they don't make them. So as each generation wears off, they drop support for gamers, in favor of casuals and apps. The reverse is true for Sony. This time, it seems MS has had to dig a little deeper into their pockets since they are not faring as well as they hoped. So, they will announce another "big" exclusives (like titanfall, or gears of war like the last gen) and that will be the last push for them since the install bases are getting too large even for MS to afford exclusivity by that method.

Zenith4k4381d ago

sorry but did you see the same conference as everyone else. i converted from Microsoft to play station because of that conference. and as for games Microsofts stance was tv and entertainment. go to bed lad and wake up with a fresh heads

pixelsword4381d ago

No, playing catchup isn't exceeding the mark; so all of this rapid progression is impressive but not something game-changing, if you'll excuse the pun.

its exactly 2 weeks now. wooohooo. i really cant fathom wat MS have under their belt to have announced big news like the xbox live stuff, halo and the removal of kinect all would have been some huge announcement for e3 and this Phil Spencer guy damn he look like he's got all his cards ready to drop big announcement after big announcements, only time will tell

TKCMuzzer4382d ago (Edited 4382d ago )

Eh, announcing the removal of Kinect at E3 would have been the wrong thing to do. They would have been admitting on the biggest stage of the year that it was a failure. You don't do that at conferences, so that was always going to happen outside of a big event.

ITPython4382d ago

Plus since MS revealed a kinectless version early and is set to release, coincidentally, on the day of E3, they wouldn't have been able to boast about the pre-order numbers (which they will no doubt try to use to their advantage).

Plus since it is essentially a born-again release of the XB1, which should get decently high sales numbers due to it being a pre-order and $100 price drop, they might get the edge over Sony this month in console sales and maybe even games sales (which MS will say "We had the best selling console during the month of E3").

If MS can't best the PS4 in worldwide sales during June with the kinectless version, and an E3 show which will likely reveal all their cards and everything they can use to their advantage, then there will be absolutely no hope left for the XB1.

Godmars2904382d ago

Or is everyone hyping up MS so much that its going to be that much easier for Sony to impress?

Dark114382d ago

Games wise, MS press conference last year was better
Sony need to step up their game this year.

TKCMuzzer4382d ago

Looking at how things have gone, Sony did all they needed to, paving the way for more announcements this year.

SoapShoes4382d ago

I'll agree but not when you add announcements from Februarys reveal and Gamescom. Sony had more but it was spread out.

shadyiswin4382d ago

100% right and to be honest I'm not interested in the order or uncharted,I don't see Sony offering up anything that makes it a must buy.
Last year they had price and policies on there side ( I actually preferred the DRM way,I like stream but hate gaming on my PC, Xbox would of been perfect and lead to cheaper games and am injection to developers... But oh well) this year Sony has nothing, uncharted isn't this year and the order is a poor mans gears of war with out MULTIPLAYER. Microsoft will destroy.

MRMagoo1234382d ago

@shadyiswin

The only thing MS destroys is their own reputation over and over again. The order being a "poor mans" gears of war lol what a stupid statement but thats to be expected from someone that calls steam "stream" huh. I am 100% happy you have no interest in what the PS4 has to offer, I would prefer you stay on the xbone with the other retard teenagers that have no clue and buy inferior more expensive consoles.

Using a term like "Killer Blow" is pure hyberbole.

There is nothing Microsoft could do that would be a "Killer Blow" short of giving away the XB1.

Before they can even be in a position to deal a killer blow they first have to stop losing ground in the market, then work on catching up, then maybe they can work on the mythical killer blow.

BX814382d ago

I think it's going to be harder for Sony. They spent most of last e3 pointing out how much they are not doing what MS is doing. All they need to do is show good games. Ms and Nin stand to really wow gamers the most since they are behind. I also think if ms announced free backwards compatibility it would be a huge blow to Sony.

Godmars2904382d ago

They spent last E3 showing how much they aren't like MS, now MS has become more like them; advantage MS.

Do you see the flaw in logic you committed?

Likewise where MS is playing catch up, has had to reverse several of their plans and have yet to really show the worth of the one remaining, their cloud service, Sony is only moving along. Is from what I hear going to be holding an open beta for PS Now.

BX814382d ago

LMAO. I see you are one of those. You can't take anyone's opinion who disagrees with you.

MRMagoo1234382d ago

I think godmars was just pointing out how stupid your opinion is thats all, I mean if i saw some stupid person eating sand at the beach, I would say hey stupid person thats stupid heres a sandwich eat that instead. I wouldnt just go walking on by and leave them to their stupidity.

Yeah makes me wonder... Hype is good but if you overhype it and don't deliver it really doesn't matter how well you do because people will be disappointed. MS is talking it up but Sony is being quiet because they're smart not to get expectations astronomically high. When that happens you suddenly expect things like unannounced projects by Naughty Dog, big 3rd party exclusives, etc.

Godmars2904382d ago

I also feel that all this focus on MS, announcing every leak and rumor, is allowing Sony to better hide whatever they might be hiding. Just like dropping Kinect, doing it a month before putting the cheaper SKU on shelves much less E3, has given Sony time to think consider and plan a counter move. Save that for E3.

You need to be in position to deliver a killer blow, MS just recently got up off the mat.

It had its chance with a price drop and came up short. A $350 Xone versus a $400 PS4 would be very interesting.

elazz4382d ago

Sony is already making a profit with the PS4 so they have a bit of leverage available to lower the price as well but I don't think they need it. Remember that PS4 outperforms Xbox One 2-1 Worldwide without any extra incentives (discount, free games etc.)

Games and gaming features need to backup a discount but Sony is preparing as well. So we are up for an interesting E3

Xbot12144382d ago

you were probably the same moron who said remove knicet and drop the price to 400

Geekman4382d ago

I've been saying that since launch. The Xbox One appeals to casuals. Should the price be lower, casuals won't care about the power differences, and enjoy PRETTY good graphics and multimedia features. But for the same price, casuals would just choose the PS4 or Xbox One completely decision based, like Sheldon did on The Big Bang Theory.

Funny considering Bruce left half way through development and now we get told there was an internal conflict with the story direction.

Makes you think…

HectixRose27d ago

I think it was good decision, if he was still alive, he would have been a mascot just like Kratos, drake and many others. These old dudes gotta die for new characters to take center stage with their own storyline. They keep dragging the emotional baggage into many sequels and eventually the story just turns into absolute shit show.

JEECE26d ago

It was ironic because people complained heavily about the story in the Uncharted games not having sufficient stakes because all the key characters always survived, despite the dangerous situations they were always in. Then ND killed a character in a more serious series and everyone lost their minds. Just shows that people don't always really want the thing they say they want.

CantThinkOfAUsername26d ago

I thought the more common complaint about Uncharted franchise was how the main cast are the good guys acting so nonchalantly while killing hundreds in cold blood (aka the dissonance between gameplay and story cutscenes). They just did it again in Part II.

Soy26d ago

Didn't have to kill him. Just have them part ways or Joel can "retire," whatever.

DarXyde26d ago

I don't think he would necessarily need to become a mascot (and besides, technically, I'd say Ellie is... So regardless, someone was going to be).

From a narrative perspective, I do think it has a similar effect to Ricky dying in Boyz N Da Hood: very likeable character, and you're really motivated to see the get back—in this case, it's more intense because it's an interactive experience. Most people hated Abby, but I get what they were after with portraying the cycle of violence and revenge—unfortunately, the game appears to want to take the side of the bad people.

But I will say that if Joel survived, it does become harder to tell an interesting story. What COULD have happened is an exploration into the rift between Joel and Ellie after the trolley dilemma events of the first game. It could have been interesting to see Abby out for revenge at the same time Ellie hated Joel.

Ashunderfire8626d ago

Sorry just had to say this lol! RICKYYYY!

Man Cuba Gooding Jr was miscast in that movie, but that part was cringey it was sad and funny at the same time man.

Ashunderfire8626d ago (Edited 26d ago )

I understand but the way they went about killing Joel, was poorly executed. Even the show of the Last of Us games tried to improved it, but it was just as bad. Well at least Joel got to know the reason why he had to die, before the death happened in the show. That part gave us the full context, but the game just let it happen with no pay off.

Joel death should have been a midway thing through the story, so we at least get to play him a little more with Ellie. Abby didn’t need to be this Hulk looking woman, but more like the show Abby which is a beater idea in my opinion.

The only ND game that was so disappointing to me I couldn't finish it.

pwnmaster300026d ago

Honestly as much as I loved the game, they could have just not killed him off.
I get it creator vision and all but killing a character that made you millions is just wrong imo. At least have him go down fighting.

They could have given it something during its 25th anniversary yet all it got was a single Happy Anniversary post on their social media.

they should know that we are OG fans of VIII as it sold truckload as well. not as much as VII or X. I personally didn't like IX but X and VI are my personal fav.

Shadow Hearts 2 covenant is another game I love. I hope one day someone can make remake, I would be delighted
