PS3 EndWar gets Minority Report-esque gesture controls

Using the Playstation Eye, the PS3 version of the game EndWar will allow players to wave their hands underneath the camera to navigate the game's overhead map. The feature is currently only being developed for the PS3 version, as the 360's Vision Camera lacks the stand to hold the camera vertically.

wetowel6571d ago

damn.... thats awesome. Im gonna have to go and buy a ps3 cam now.

NO_PUDding6571d ago (Edited 6571d ago )

Pleaset tell me you are being sarcastic?

360 camera lacks the stand.... ZOMG i bet Microsoft wished they had developed a vertical polythylene supportive device, maybe it's becuase Sony is so next gen!

SARCASM!!!

I am a PS3 fanboy, but I ahte all these gimmicky benefits the PS3 is getting. Yes, I am whinign about it, becuase it's never useful.

I use Sixaxis on GTA for relaoding, darts and bowling, but that's all - and that's when I am bored enough to play that pathetic game!

LenHart6571d ago

It seems like an impressive feature

we will find out for sure

Panthers6571d ago

Maybe, but controlling units with your hands and not even touching the screen is awesome. especilaly in a RTS

thePatriot6571d ago (Edited 6571d ago )

I ahte sarcasam on the internet as much as I ahte whinign about vg charts accuracy

http://multiplayerblog.mtv....

i purchased mine when they first came out and have been incredibly satisfied. The built in microphones work great and it is far superior to my xbox cam handling low light conditions with ease. the picture and functions are just completely superior hands down.

on top of that when i am not home i can use my psp to turn on my ps3 with remote play, go to video chat and see what my dogs are doing live in the living room he he.

sonarus6571d ago

Agreed...makes a lot of sense for an RTS. If they could take out the controller completely and make it so its just camera and headset then MAYBE i can consider the game

deeznuts6571d ago (Edited 6571d ago )

NO_PUDding, as MS are quickly finding out, not having a stand for their camera is turning out to be a mistake as egregious as not making a HDD standard!

EDIT:, by the way I play in my bedroom on my bed. But my room is fairly large so I sit maybe 15 feet away (maybe 13). Will the eye toy work from such distances?

MikeGdaGod6571d ago

i love the PS Eye

i used the same bluetooth heatset with my ps3 that i use for my phone, but after a while i got tired of linking them. now i use the Eye in-game and it works beautifully. i doubt i'll ever use a headset now.

plus.......if your really slick and expecting "company", you can set it up so that it records.....EVERYTHING. keep that controller nearby.

worth every penny

Bolts6571d ago

I'll keep this in mind when I make my next sex type or have a coke deal in my living room.

Fishy Fingers6571d ago

Surely they should allow it for the 360, people could easily rig up something to point the camera upwards.

Stick it between two books...?

clintos596571d ago

they can duck tape the xbox vision onto there hat or something and it will proly work even better, who knows. :)

Panthers6571d ago

I thought the PS3 cam had some kind of special 3D capturing or something. Like something the 360 cam didnt. I know there was something special about the PS3 cam.

Odion6571d ago

Seriously I am actually jealous lol

whateva6571d ago

sony needs to make Knock Out in HD for the PS3

LevDog6571d ago

PS eye only cost 40 bucks.. Its a good investment.. 1. if you dont have a mic it has one.. 2. You can vid chat with other people that has one..

Ps the vid chat is awesome

clintos596571d ago

$39.99 at circuit city.

Im sure u can find other places where it is cheaper, maybe ebay.

whateva6571d ago

eyecreate is fun I make crazy videos like this

Meresin6571d ago (Edited 6571d ago )

Whateva, you just got positive feedback for pure creativity. O.o That video was something to behold.

Just out of curiosity, how is the voice detection on the Eye camera? Does it pick up a lot of game noise?

clintos596571d ago

Cool video and yes PS eye is an awesome cam. I am still screwing around wit it to see what else I can do with it but very creative video. :)

butterfinger6571d ago

this sounds like they are using this game to get a response before they release PSN-Connect. It would make sense at least...

butterfinger6571d ago

PSN-Connect is a minority report-like way that PS3 owners will be able to access their xmb and possibly other features in game... Basically if you are playing GTA and you want to change a song, you just reach to the right corner of your screen (for example) and drag down your custom soundtracks and select a song all without even using a controller...

Meresin6571d ago (Edited 6571d ago )

Is that something that is supposed to be coming? It sounds incredible...It'd be a lot less awkward than simply firing up XMB while in a game and maneuvering through the menus.

If they really do kick that out, I'll have to pick up the Eye camera myself.

Forget discounts,If they want to compete with EA Access, they need to bump up the AAA Games that are on the PS Store and on PS Now. There weren't a lot of games on PS Now that interested me, especially for that price point.

Let's take a moment and think about this..

Sony, I love you, but take notes! EA Access has a lot of extras that sound great if you’re looking for a new loyalty program, that blanket 10% off digital video games will definitely save subscribers some money if they’re big fans of Electronic Arts’ video games. Users who purchase a brand new Electronic Arts Xbox One title a month will break even on that first game, saving $6 off a $60 purchase.

PSN store trying to compete with EA Access? What nonsense!

Total different things!

And they need to bump up the AAA games on the PSN store? What? All the AAA games can be bought on the PSN store.

And no, PS Now is also not trying to compete with EA Access, again something else entirely...

And no, EA Access is not good value at all if you do not live in the US! They give 10% off on digital game purchases, MSRP of games is €70, 10% off means they are €63 but I can buy physical copies during initial release for between €50-55. Then there are a gazillion sports titles for free that I have no interest in. The games I'm interested in I already buy so don't need free copies a year after their release. The only nice thing about it is the 10 hours early access, that's it!

Helden3703d ago

Just one game on PS4 (R6 Siege)
I expected more

Eidolon3703d ago

Tbat's like the only Tom Clancy game on PS4.. so that's ALL of them.

Aenea3703d ago

US only, why not add it in the title?
