Many a football fan lost days/weeks/months of their life playing Tecmo Bowl on the NES back in the day. The arcade-style sports game was a lot easier to get into than the Maddens of today. Tecmo is set to re-launch the franchise this September with Tecmo Bowl: Kickoff for the Nintendo DS. Next year will see Tecmo Bowl Wii, but 2008 is all about the portable game. IGN got to throw Kickoff around a bit recently and are happy to report it looks and feels much like the Tecmo Bowl they remember.

GamesBeat compiled a list of options for forlorn college football fans.

With the Superbowl just around the corner. it’s time to take a look back at the series that kicked off video game football: Tecmo Bowl

Kombo writes: "Tecmo Bowl is like a religion to football fans of the NES/SNES generations. Before there was a Madden, 2K, Quarterback Club, or Blitz, there was Tecmo Bowl. Many would argue that Tecmo's take on the sport was a perfect game-a teetering balance between simulation and arcade playability with a dose of sometimes unintended comedy on the side."
what's wrong with maxing out your players ^.-
good stuff this will be a great addition and glad Tecmo brought it back!
