1. Hanging out with people blows
2. Our games still freeze
3. Brain dead police
4. GTA IV's controls aren't reliable
5. Same dry missions
6. Strippers wear bikinis
7. You restart missions at the beginning
8. Achievement points are too difficult to unlock

So what the hell do i need all this money for?

mistertwoturbo6574d ago

Jesus, I thought I was the only one on this. Seriously, what's the point in the money system in this game? You cant buy any business or anything.

Jamie Foxx6574d ago (Edited 6574d ago )

hasnt the charm of vice city or san andreas or even gta3

online only thing keeps me going back

Relcom6574d ago (Edited 6574d ago )

There is no houses or cars ect to buy. I just was done with the game when the story ended

Honestly my GTA4 is sitting on my shelf while i have been playing COD4 and MGS3(a PS2 game)

mistertwoturbo6574d ago

Same here, I thought the online would keep me going for awhile too. But there's hardly anyone online and it's just too choppy to enjoy. After beating the main story line, there really just isn't anything to do with GTA IV. And I hate the fact that you have to go around shooting some stupid pidgeons to get 100%.

Jamie Foxx6574d ago (Edited 6574d ago )

i got bored way before that im on like 30+%

i finished gta3,vice city, san andreas even both psp games but gta4 has no substance, proves that sometimes more power doesnt equal better games gta4 actual made me miss the experience i had with ps2's gta's

DLC man you can keep it i wouldnt pay for more tediousness sorry

Close_Second6574d ago

...was plain boooorrring. Multiplayer felt nasty and didn't even come with a lobby system making the entire on-line experience tacked on.

Lets face it, GTAIV was all about delivering a next-gen version of Liberty City but they forgot to deliver a good game to use it. Mind you, I was not overly impressed with the new Liberty City as it still suffered from jaggies and framerate drops.

I wonder what an "I Am Legend" type game could do with the GTAIV game engine. Mind you, leave it to Rockstar and I dare say you'd have to have a street race with the infected....yawn....

radzy6574d ago

my opinion is ,it should have got 7's , not 10's.

thewhoopimen6574d ago (Edited 6574d ago )

Guys you have to take it into perspective. Keep in mind that Rockstar had alot of hoops to jump to deliver this game. The biggest problem probably had to deal with the fact that they needed to squeeze next gen gaming as much as they could into a last gen format... DVD. Ie all those graphical eye candy, physics interaction, and lighting probably took up most of the space on the DVD for this game. I mean think about it ... GTAIII, Vice City, San Andreas, and IV are using the SAME disc space! I'm not trying to point fingers at a particular consoles storage limitations, but what can you do when your expected to cram a full city, improve graphics and physics, multiplayer, new vocal AND video content, and gameplay? Something had to give and unfortunately they cut out most side stuff to preserve core missions.

So this is what you get when you develop for the lowest common denominator.

J@D6574d ago

Well, the game after like 70 hours I get boring with all my money and all the missions done. Otherwise the multiplayer is quite good but not live to keep me all the time in there.

Jack Meahoffer6574d ago (Edited 6574d ago )

Bunch of bandwagon haters and a couple of real GTA fans trying to defend it.

@1.8

"I'm not trying to point fingers at a particular consoles storage limitations, but what can you do when your expected to cram a full city"

Oh your not trying to point fingers but you just did. You were the first person to bring up the console war. Epic Fail. You forgot to mention NOT ONE PS3 GAME has been longer or contained more content due to Bluray. Name one. You can't. I don't care how much data is on the disc I'm talking game content. Length of game.

What GTA IV really needed was a standard HDD on 360 and more RAM in BOTH consoles.

Another thing you forget is CONTENT COSTS MONEY. Its not free. GTA IV was the most expensive game EVER created at 100 million yet you think if they had Bluray standard they could have included SOOO much more. Pipe dream. You just wanted to start a flame war.

Fact is both consoles have ups and downs. Its not one sided like you want to believe there Whoopie.

@1.14 So close to 2 years after the PS3 launched the first game to benefit from bluray isn't even out yet... Thats your example? MSG4 at 20-29 hours? You want an example of a FPS shooter thats longer than MSG4? Well first MSG4 isn't a FPS but I'll play along... Oblivion was a FPS while not a shooter and Fallout 3 is supposed to be like 100 hours and it still fits on a DVD9... Point is you bringing up media is an epic fail because it hasn't even benefited you yet and your example is barely an example.

Disagree me down thats fine. This site is 8:1 Sony fans and they're all rabid for "JUDGEMENT DAY JUNE 12th" thats fine. But the fact is your magic weapons you one console Sony fans like to throw around like Bluray and Home have yet to live up to the hype. Period. You shouldn't bring it up for NO REASON in a thread that has NOTHING to do with it. Mandatory installs FTW!

By the way 1.13 if GTA IV was PS3 exclusive I wouldn't have been hating on it because I love GTA and I own both the 360 and PS3 versions.

marinelife96574d ago

Good I thought I was the only one that wasn't getting the fun factor from the game. After seeing all the perfect ten reviews I thought it would be at least as fun as COD4.

I haven't played it in weeks and if I had an xbox I certainly wouldn't be buying any down loadable content for it.

thewhoopimen6574d ago (Edited 6574d ago )

Fine Jack, you want me to throw in that the 360 doesn't have a hard drive as well? OK. If the 360 came standard with a friggin hard drive, both the ps3 and 360 could've installed more gameplay content and GTAIV wouldn't be so limited in gameplay side missions.

You want an example what bluray can do? MGS4 . Does any FPS/TPS game out there have 20 hours of gameplay content and 10 hours of movies on top of it? And that's fact being stated not fanboy delusion.

And Don't even start about Farcry2 having 50 hours, because 100% you're going to be backtracking across the same sandbox environment, where MGS4 will have UNIQUE locales in its acts.

Seriously, I'm just upset that I couldnt' do more in GTAIV ok?

@1.10 Oblivion is a sandbox game...with TONS of repeating textures. It doesn't prove your point, b/c GTAIV clearly has more graphical content, straight up polygons, character and machinery interactions, dialogue, TV and Radio shows, etc. Not to mention unrealistic physics in comparison. I have yet to see a horsecart explode in oblivion.

And yes MGS4 can be played in TPS, FPS, or as an action game. And no jack i don't think ur a fanboi.

snakeater36574d ago

face it buddy...if gta4 had been a ps3 exclusive (as it should ve been from the start) you wouldnt be praising it im sure. as for the gta hate around here....i dont agree....it feels like san andreas was more massive and vice city had more charm but i think this gta is the most funny, immersive and dense gta yet. sure it has problems, but no game has this immense sense of scale.
as for the bluray debate thing......it would have benefited the game (more space is better), and games ARE taking advantage of it (mgs4 anyone?).

MikeGdaGod6574d ago

maybe i'm just getting old but GTA4 just didn't live up to my expectations. i'll admit that i was a little skeptical of it before it even came out.

i've completed the story once and i hated the ending. but i know it could change depending on the choices i made so i'm going to play through again. but i'm not that excited to do it.

also i just got MG Essentials so i'll be playing that until MGS4 drops.

i remember spending weeks and weeks on San Andreas and Vice City, and i just didn't have the urge to do that this time around. again maybe my age is showing, but i personally just wasn't that impressed with GTA4.

lonestarmt6574d ago

well heavenly sword benefited from it too with the great audio and all the different language tracks. Read gamepros article for MGS. This isn't a sprint its a marathon. Games like burnout and Devil may cry was better on the ps3 because of the HDD built in. You will see more and more and especially next year that not having the extra disc space or a HDD will really hurt the 360. As games get better graphics, more content and more ambitious its really going to show. Micosoft isn't worried because when that happens they will just have xbox 720 for you to shell out another $500. Not saying that the 360 won't have any more great games, just its going to handicap the progression of video games.

Megaton6574d ago

@1.8

You don't have to point fingers at the 360's storage limitations. The Housers already did it themselves, claiming the next GTA might not make it to the 360 for that reason.

Overall, I liked the game a lot, but the level of fun in single player really jumped off a cliff after 100%ing it. I've also got a nagging feeling that something is missing. The endings just didn't climax like I thought they would, leaving me with a rather empty feeling. Not the best GTA, but it's still a good game in my book.

JsonHenry6574d ago

Wow, someone else is like me. When I rented GTA4 I played it both on and offline for about 2-3 hours a piece and returned the damn thing for being the SAME GAME as all the others since GTA3.

Most over-hyped P.O.S. since Halo 3.

Organic_Chemistry6574d ago

Some people on this site are mindless idiots. I said all this stuff about the game the week it came out and every single person disagreed with me and argue saying how this game is the best, now all of a sudden everyone doesnt like it? Some people on here are mindless fukcing tools that follow and believe every single news post. Try something different and think for yourself, I said it the week this game came out and I say it again, this game is crap and is at most a 7/10

Lifendz6574d ago

but I don't know what I'm going to do with all this money. Maybe they patch in the ability to buy more safehouses or purchase custom cars/weapons.

nbsmatambo6574d ago

this is exactly y this should have stayed PS3 exclusive...
we get features cut because of limited disc space on the 360. If it was on bluray im sure it would have a lot more features. but since rockstar was paid 50M to give DLC to 360 and make sure people think its better on 360, we all get giped..

dont get me wrong GTA IV is fun to play, but all im saying is that i miss the ability to buy buisneses (the icecream business is Vice City) ability to buy mansions (The various mansions dotted around Vice City/ San Andreas, etc..)

=D

Bloodwar6574d ago

You are bound to lose your right to speak on this Sony website. Its already happening.. I see the 3 bubs you have. Anyways, I have to agree that length of time isn't an issue but the fanboys are going to say it is all the 360's fault. We're already seeing it here. What I do have to say is that had Rockstar chosen to have more content, which they could have done, they could use multiple DVDs. Several games on PC use multiple DVDs as do some of the 360's.

But I am one to admit, I moved on. Got back into WoW and have been playing Halo 3 again since my brother only just discovered Xbox 360 for the first time. Gonna give him mine when I buy my Elite 360.

I am curious whether or not the exclusive content is going to be able to draw folk into the fray come this fall. I think that some of us owners already of GTA IV and the Xbox 360 may not buy the exclusive content if our experiences really are that bad. I have been having fun with GTA IV. Its not boring to me, I just have a short attention span.. thats why I moved on. I'll be back. But I do also think that those who were waiting on the sidelines before and want to get something come Holiday 2008, its possible that the 360+GTA+Exclusive content at Christmas time may possibly bring in more gamers. I don't know. We shall see.

i know we dont even need money i mean we can just steal cars and crap and yes i stopped playing the game i expected more in this game and stupid as removing nudity

SCThor6574d ago

for a downloadable content of a game that nobody is playing now.

Cryxen6574d ago

Nudity doesn't matter to me, but nerfing the game for the sake of realism is retarded, what is realistic about the game now? an immigrant that can pilot a chopper with mini guns? how is that less realistic than modding cars?

ps360fella6574d ago

yea i stopped cus i beat it, now i just jump off buildings

ps360fella6574d ago (Edited 6574d ago )

y are people disagreeing with me, all i do in the game now is go on top of buildings and either jump, drive or ride off them. sorry u take offense to how i play the game.

yea just keep proving your intense retardation

resistance1006574d ago

Maybe its the fact there is nothing to do in GTA once the story (which is too easy to begin with) is over.

J@D6574d ago

Exactly. I was expecting more stuff like San Andreas but seriously the game fall short.

lonestarmt6574d ago

well the game was fun, but whats with all the 10's?? the game was a massive set back. The story and the characters were the best so far IMO and they perfectly recreating new york city which was really cool to me since the actual apartment that my girlfriends uncle who lives in new york is actually there, the gunplay is better and I actually like getting away from the cops easier, and I love the taxi system because it cuts down on driving around the city just to get to point B, but the game has many set backs.

For starters you have a crap load of money and nothing to spend it on. The pigeons are hard to find and really have no point other than to get the 100% In the old games after so many packages you get weapons and goodies at your base. A lot less clothing. Driving still sucks. Other cars for no reason change lanes right in front of you during a chase even though sometimes they are at a stop light. There is less cars and wierd things to find. There are less weapons. The rpg element in SA gone. Seriously I rather them scrap the boring after a while online multiplayer for more content in single player. It really makes me wonder if either not having a HDD in every system hurt this or they were holding back for the DLC. Great but way overrated game.

GTA IV: Liberty City’s Finest

GTA IV turned GTA into a more grounded franchise where storytelling and immersion became just as engrossing as wrecking up open-world sandboxes.

Looking Back At 2008, An Unbelievably Incredible Year Of Video Game Releases

Huzaifa from eXputer: "2008 was home to the likes of Call of Duty: World at War, Dead Space, GTA 4, Far Cry 2, Left 4 Dead, and many other hits, which is outright remarkable."

ChasterMies764d ago

Some of these low paid video game “news” writers weren’t born before 2007.

just_looken764d ago

Here here

Those that were around before 2000's i am sure are like me that think we entered a world of non readers or those that follow without question.

I can not wait to see fallout 3 a goty game even though it was about water with non content until you add the dlc/updates then you got the performance/crashing

CrimsonWing69764d ago

I don’t think anything can compare to 2023

lucasnooker764d ago

1998 - the best year in gaming! Metal gear solid, crash bandicoot 3, medievil, half life, ocarina of time, thief, tenchu, resident evil 2, Spyro, tomb raider 3, oddworld abes exodus, banjo kazooie.

It was a different breed of a gaming era. You’ll never understand what it was like back then. The aura of gaming, it was different!

KyRo764d ago (Edited 764d ago )

I second this. Gaming was a lot more varied and fun than it is today. I'm 35 so getting on compared to some here but I got to see all the changes from NES up to now but I've never felt so disappointed in any generation than I have this current gen. I was expecting more from this generation rather than prettier versions of games that came before it. Game mechanics have become so refined that alot of games feel the same and has done for a while now.

Maybe it's time to have a break for a while. I love gaming but I don't feel I get much fun in the traditional sense out of it anymore.

CrimsonWing69764d ago (Edited 764d ago )

Metal Gear Solid, Resident Evil 2, Abe’s Exodus, and Ocarina of Time are the only things from that list that I liked.

Here’s the 2023 game releases that I personally liked… and big releases that I didn’t care for:

- Dead Space Remake
- Wo Long Dynatsy
- Resident Evil 4 Remake
- Diablo 4
- Fire Emblem Engage
- Hogwarts Legcay
- Street Fighter 6
- Hi-Fi Rush
- Like a Dragon: Ishin
- Octopath Traveler 2
- Final Fantasy Pixel Remasters
- Final Fanatsy XVI (actually ended up not liking this, but it was still a big deal release)
- Baldur’s Gate 3
- Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon
- Lies of P
- Mortal Kombat 1
- Marvel’s Spider-Man 2
- Starfield (Ended up hating this one, but big release)
- Super Mario Bros. Wonder
- Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (I’m an old-school Zelda fan, but didn’t really enjoy this game)
- Alan Wake 2

I mean, honestly I’ve never seen a year of major IP releases like that, ever.

Profchaos764d ago (Edited 764d ago )

Isn't it just a generational thing realistically.

I've been gaming since way back and I some of my favourite games go as far back as the late 80s for me each generation has a year or two of game changing releases one after another before an inevitable dry spell.

I kind of agree gaming had a different feel games hit different because we didn't have the internet nothing got spoiled and you really had to put in the effort to beat a puzzle which could set entire groups of people looking for a solution. But most importantly games were experimental and not as cookie cutter as today even basics like controls were not universal today r2 is shoot l2 is ads garunteed you can't deviate from that in a shooter back then it could of been square, R1 or R1 and circle nothing was standard.

But as time moves on a new generation picks up their controller they are going to be interested in different things that PS1 demo disc with the t Rex blew our primitive 16 bit brains back on launch but to kids today it's laughable.
The new gen of kids coming into to hobby seem to value different things to us there seems to be a huge focus on online play, streamers, gaming personalities, and social experiences, convience of digital downloads. To me I value none of that but that's ok like my parents not liking the band's I would listen to its just the natural cycle.

Gameseeker_Frampt764d ago

Just about every year in the 7th generation was great and something we most likely won't experience again.

2009 for example had Assassin's Creed 2, Batman: Arkham Asylum, Dragon Age: Origins, Uncharted 2, Halo 3: ODST, Killzone 2, Borderlands, Bayonetta, and Demon's Souls to name a few.

just_looken764d ago

It still amazes me we got over 7 rockstar games ps2/ps3 but 3 for the ps3/ps4/ps5

Dragon age 1-3 and mass effect 1-3 in 7ish years what a generation.
