Eden Games explains PS3 Alone in the Dark delay

Senior producer Nour Polloni explained that the PS3 version "is not performing as well on PS3" in terms of frame rate, but reassured PS3-owners that it's "not that far off".

Polloni revealed that despite the delay, both the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of Alone in the Dark will contain the same content.

meh, another developer who doesn't know how to code for the PS3...

onewinedangel6578d ago

they are not stupid enough to released it the same month hideo's monster will .

InMyOpinion6578d ago (Edited 6578d ago )

Must be the developers. It's funny they never seem to have any problems developing for the 360. I wonder why the 360 can handle the framerate better? Must be because it's the weaker console...

Bathyj6578d ago

Yeah Jenzo. Its common knowledge Xbox is easier. Its basically a stripped down PC. PS3 isn't worse, is just different. Stop being so juvenile, I've given you credit for being better than that, but maybe I'm wrong.

Its worth keeping in mind, most of these devs are still on there 1st PS3 game not their 3rd or 4th. Cut them some slack. MGS4 looks pretty good for a first wave title wouldn't you agree.

dlx796578d ago

Why not? It's a different genre. Also it's going to be on all 3 consoles rather than one. Makes sense to me.

AllroundGamer6578d ago

an example from real life - what work will the lazy man do first, the hard one or the easy one... but an intelligent man will do the hard work first, because then the easy work would feel even more easier for him. Just like with the devs, if they would do the PS3 version first, both versions would look good.

InMyOpinion6578d ago

Thx dude, I respect that.

Metal Gear Solid 4 looks f'in amazing. How long did it take to develop? What I mean is that not all developers can afford to 're-invent the wheel' everytime they are making a game. Especially not when making a multiplatform title.

Lets hope the big multiplatform titles like Fallout 3, Soul Calibur 4 etc don't get affected in the same way.

TheKungFool6578d ago (Edited 6578d ago )

I think its unreasonable to dismiss the fact that developers have had an extra 15 months to get accustomed to the 360 architecture.

When you look at the history of EVERY console, the games get better as times goes by. Look at year one PS2 titles versus year seven PS2 titles.
Hell, look at 360 launch titles versus the stuff coming out now.

I think the differences in the multiplats have been drastically over-exagerated, at least in my personal experiences. I currently own 7 multiplat titles on my PS3, and they all look and play great.

InMyOpinion6578d ago

It's not that the difference is big, sometimes extremely hard to notice even. But who wants to buy something knowing that you get the second best version?

TheKungFool6578d ago (Edited 6578d ago )

I totally get what you're saying, but I don't personally think it matters that much, especially to the casual consumer. I've never heard of anyone buying a 360 over a PS3 just because games like "Fear" got half a point higher in a review.

I agree with you whole-heartedly that if you're lucky enough to own multiple systems, you'll obviously care more about the differences in multiplats. For example, if you owned both systems, you'd obviously buy GTA4 for 360 if you wanted to eventually have the DLC.

That said though, as a PS3 owner who won't be buying a 360, I honestly don't care about the small differences for two reasons:

1) Those differences are often exagerated. I currently own 8 multiplat titles for my PS3 and all of them look and play fantastic, regardless of the slight differences.

2) Now that devs have experience with the PS3, you're seeing those early differences dissappear; the more recent multiplats (CoD4, GTA4, DMC4 etc) don't have the issues those early ports did, and play just as well on both systems.

TheKungFool6577d ago (Edited 6577d ago )

My multiplat count was off in the earlier post because I forgot a game
(before anyone starts with the "your count changed" stuff)

butterfinger6578d ago

and who could blame them? lol

fredy6578d ago

kz2 release shuffle and geow2.

TripleTags6578d ago

i had some hands on for this game and have to say that its going to be a cult hit at LEAST .. its really good. PS3 owners are used to stepped releases by now :)

games4fun6578d ago

exactly lets say the game isnt choppy at all if i was looking at the release schedule i'd go

!...sh!t delay the ps3 version why didn't anyone tell me mgs4 was releasing at this time

2nd person: what do we say to our fans?
Me: i dont care make up something

sidenote: also the game may be choppy i dont mind the wait it seems like a good game i will buy later but there is no way i would buy this over mgs4

jkhan6578d ago

@Fredy,
Well mate Killzone 2 had nothing to do with Gears 2 release;) It was delayed because of Resistance2. Resistance 2 v/s. Gears 2 round 2 is still on.
I will be enjoying both games. So Enjoy ;)

Having played it I can decidedly inform you that it will not, indeed, suck.

avacadosnorkel6578d ago

it's only getting delayed on one system.

And for that system (PS3) it's still going to suck after the delays.

My original post had nothing to do with the game itself.

A$$holes with all the disagrees

m91058266577d ago

Perhaps, then, a wiser post would have been "Despite all of the delays, the PS3 version will still suck." Either way, when I played the PS3 version, it ran like a dream. I think they're just avoiding competition with MGS4.

heyheyhey6578d ago

that sucks, i thought this kind of stuff was supposed to be over by now

lets hope AITD is the last one

JoelR6577d ago

well one of the best horror games of the year... if you discount

Resident Evil / Biohazard 4
Siren
splatterhouse
Deadspace
FatalFrame 4
Silent Hill 5

Relcom6578d ago

Actually i'm glad they did this. I would rather play a smooth game later than a choppy game earlier.

At least a lot of people will finally play Bomb Rush Cyberfunk.

Eonjay368d ago

I have been hearing a lot of positive feedback in reference to this game. Honna give it a go.

Terry_B369d ago

A really good month this time.

Don't care for NBA but its pretty cool that Destiny 2 is now completely? with all dlc? available via ps+ essential for those who have it since years.

Also Alone in the Dark and Bomb Rush will be played through by me.

Elda369d ago

I'll download The Final Shape.

fsfsxii369d ago

Bomb Rush is so so good. Highly recommend it.

lukasmain368d ago

Overall great deals for everyone I guess.

For me personally though:

• "players who join PlayStation Plus during this year’s celebration can save up to 33% on select 12-month memberships."

• "players who are currently a PlayStation Plus Essential or Extra member, save 33% on the remainder of your membership when upgrading to PlayStation Plus Premium/Deluxe."

Ehhh ... Days of Play last until 11th. My subscription expires June, 14th.

I literally am laughing at me rn.

DivineHand125370d ago

If Sony allowed subscriptions to be sold by third party sellers like they did in the PS4 days, you would not have this problem.

VersusDMC370d ago

That's why everyone should get their subscriptions now as last years days of play was may 29 to 12th of june. Mine is expiring on the 7th so i will just get essential or possibly extra this year.

And you can atleast get 15 days of extra or premium at 33% off to try it out.

Profchaos370d ago

You used to be able to stack you Sub with these deals it would be good to do this as I'm not paying 214 for deluxe again

Abear21369d ago

Forza is already on sale, with patience you can buy dozens of games for that $

GhostScholar370d ago

This shows how game pass is eating ps plus lunch…..they’re lowering the price and the crazy thing is the premium tier is worse than the tier below it lol

P_Bomb370d ago (Edited 370d ago )

Will see about getting my kid a cheaper PS Plus sub so he can backup and transfer his saves again. Really wish that was free ala XB.

Hopefully Destiny 2 The Final Shape comes with a free gear level upgrade like last year’s PS Plus offering. To bring you up to speed with all the content and everyone else. I still need to do a Nightfall Strike on Grandmaster difficulty, but ain’t got time to grind.

Lexreborn2370d ago

Why not add him to you PlayStation plus family? I added my sons and it includes access to all my games and ps plus.

https://www.playstation.com...

P_Bomb369d ago (Edited 369d ago )

I have my primary set to his console so he can play online multiplayer and all my games, but it doesn’t give him access to cloud storage. That’s the problem. He needs to back up his saves. From the link:

PlayStation Plus features that can't be shared

Buying PlayStation Plus discounted products
Redeeming PS Plus games on another account.
Online storage.
Auto patch download.
Early access to time-limited game trials.

More like Days of Meh.... no specialized controllers or systems like in 2018 and 2019.

Eonjay370d ago (Edited 370d ago )

I mean it feels like you are forcing yourself to be negative here. Those are some really decent deals tbh. Also, everyone thought PS5 would go up to match Xbox so going down is a nice surprise too.

370d ago
Eonjay370d ago

They did not confirm price increases. That is a lie.

370d ago
370d ago
Eonjay370d ago

If you really beleived what you are saying why do you have to keep making alts to say it?

370d ago
darthv72370d ago

None of those deals are of any great consequence to me. I was hoping they would bring back the special themed hardware after a 5 year break. They had it in 2018 and 19 and nothing for 20-24. 25 could have been the year to bring it back.

ocelot07370d ago

To be fair he right about the special edition days of play controllers and hardware. They could of at least made a controller and limited edition ps5 side plates for the event.

But the other deals are cool.

Boy, that's a real strange and specific goal post to have.

raWfodog370d ago (Edited 370d ago )

To be clear, what are you referring to when you say 'specialized'? Just wanted to know if you had a different take on these controller and system deals.

Deals on PS5 console offerings include:

In the United States and Canada, PlayStation 5 console – Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Bundle (Digital and Standard) will be available starting at $399.99 USD / $509.99 CAD (Save up to $119.99 USD / $159.99 CAD compared to buying separately).
In select regions such as Europe and Asia, PlayStation 5 console (Digital and Standard) will be on promotion, starting at €399.99 / £339.99 / ¥65,980.
$50 USD off PlayStation 5 Pro console

There will also be offers for PS5 accessories and games, including:

$50 USD off PlayStation VR2 and PlayStation VR2 Horizon Call of the Mountain Bundle
$30 USD off Pulse Explore wireless earbuds
$30 USD off DualSense Edge wireless controller
$20 USD off Access controller
$20 USD off DualSense wireless controller

darthv72370d ago

Both DoP 2018 and 19 had special themed PS4 slim. I have both and while they did not do them again in 20-24.... I was hoping they would bring it back in 25 with a special themed PS5 slim or even Pro.

repsahj370d ago

This is their way to counter Nintendo Switch 2 launch week. I might get the discounted annual premium subs, but I think the game lineup is weak.

Deathdeliverer370d ago

That games lineup is huge. It’s got new games on there and really good ones like Tekken 8. The PlayStation 5 being cheaper than the switch 2 is a counter in and of itself. Early adopters are early adopters. It will sell well, but not as good as the original switch. Not with that price and a far more capable machine with real online available for less. I think old Reggie said it best. Nintendo thrived on innovation and pushing new ideas. Not just rereleasing better versions of what it already had. The Wii was a massive success. The Wii U…. The 3DS was a big success, the DS XL… The switch huge success. The switch 2….. we will see.

Puty370d ago

So no deals for existing ps plus premium members?
