5 Characters That Might Return In Fallout 4

Leaked information about Fallout 4 suggests that the game will take place in the Commonwealth, the post-apocalyptic remains of the state of Massachusetts. It's a brand-new location but there may be a few familiar faces there.

I thought the Commonwealth setting had already been debunked by Bethesda?

FalloutWanderer20774398d ago

The only thing that was debunked by Bethesda was that Survivor 2299 hoax site. I remember following that site daily...Long story short, I was crushed when I found out it was all a ruse.

The Boston rumors started awhile ago IIRC on reddit and the latest "confirmation" that was not officially debunked was the Kotaku leaked script rumors a couple months back.

Can't wait for this game. I hope it's revealed at E3...

barb_wire4398d ago

I get the feeling they'll be no 'Fallout 4' announcement at E3 (I really do hope I'm wrong though) but what with the delay of 6 months on the console versions of 'Elder Scrolls Online' ZeniMax and Bethesda are going to have their hands full.

SonyMontana4398d ago

You're probably right, but a man can dream!

adorie4398d ago

But, I thought another studio was handling ESO?

I didn't think Softworks was working on ESO, and they're the people who did FO3.

FalloutWanderer20774398d ago (Edited 4398d ago )

I do not see the delay of ESO affecting Fallout at all.

Well,it shouldn't because Zenimax online studios are developing ESO not Bethesda Game Studios, the Devs behind the single-player Elder Scrolls & Fallout games.

ETA: I'd imagine with the less than stellar reviews & reception that ESO has gotten so far,on top of the majority of negative previews for 'The Evil Within' Zenimax is in a position where they are in dire need for some positive news.

Wolfenstein: The New Order is looking great IMO. The majority of articles I've read have been for the most part positive as well. Including the Doom beta certainly is going to help sales as well I'd think.

It has been 6 years since Fallout 3 and 4 years since New Vegas. We are way over due for the next Fallout installment, The fans deserve to know at the very least that the game is in development.

TL;DR - They need some consistent, reliable knock out power revelation in the form of Fallout 4 announcement.

To get back on track financially & positively via the media and most importantly, the fans.

rivencleft4398d ago

You and me both, this has to be my number one anticipated game of next-gen, even though nothing has been revealed as of yet I still hold on to hopes seeing it at E3 2014, love the Fallout series and it's been too long.

Sidewinder-4398d ago (Edited 4398d ago )

It's a little out there, but I wouldn't mind seeing Fallout take a direction where your character isn't so...pre-defined.

I mean, It's like, with Fallout 2, it doesn't 'feel' right to have your tribal born Chosen One to begin the game with a natural affinity for Energy Weapons.

Likewise, with Fallout New Vegas, It would feel strange to be playing as a "Courier" but having no skill in, say, Bartering.

While not a big fan of Fallout 3 in terms of it skewing with the lore a little, there was a brilliant mod where you can start the game and essentially choose your set up.

You can begin as a Ghoul, not in a vault, if you so wished and left to go on your merry way. Obviously without as much context as there was for starting in Vault 101, but it's the idea that counts. I'm sure there's a similar mod for Elder Scrolls 5.

Again, while not a BIG fan of the game, Dragon Age's "Origin" stories made for a more definitive beginning while having subtle influences throughout the rest of the game.

I think it would be rather interesting in the Fallout world what with there being so many groups and factions.

The risk, I guess, would be pulling it off without making the game feel overly general and "mmo-ish".

Omegasyde4398d ago

Be careful what you ask for or otherwise the next Fallout is going to be an MMO with monthly subscriptions on top of purchasing the game.

Porcelain_Chicken4398d ago (Edited 4398d ago )

Why would a "courier" need bartering skill? My UPS guy literally just says 3 things, my last name (to signal who the package is for), "Hello", and "Thank you have a good day". No bartering skill required just saying xD

Although it was weird "discovering" places the courier already knew. Since he's been there courier-ing. Then again his/her brain did get scrambled.

On topic this is a decent list (at least till #2, next page wouldn't load for me). I always wanted Harkness to go after Zimmer. The thought of a cyborg going after his creator seems awesome hehe. I also abso-friggin-loutely fell in love with Cass from New Vegas. She was a tough wanderer. Kinda hoping we get to play as different "races" in Fallout 4. Humans, Cyborgs, Ghouls, Mutans (Not Super mutants) etc. Damn, i want this game :/

MasterD9194398d ago

I'd love to see FO4 reference your character from FO3.

And Three Dog of course.

Patpat2464398d ago

I killed Three Dog in my game haha.

MasterD9194398d ago

Ha! I can't blame ya...I remember that there were quite a few things in his office that were "lootable", so I may have done so a while back as well.

John Eden would be cool too I guess...I was trying to think of more memorable characters from FO3 but I'm drawing a blank, which is likely due to the fact that I'm replaying through New Vegas right now.

FalloutWanderer20774396d ago (Edited 4396d ago )

I'd like to add Desmond Lockheart to that list. For those who remember, he makes mention towards the end of Point Lookout that he is heading up north in pursuit of one of his rivals -

***spoiler alert***

'If kept alive, Desmond disappears from the game after exiting the underground lab upon completion of A Meeting of the Minds. If talked to beforehand, he will mention traveling north to pursue his next rival, another "player" in the "Great Game," a Post-War struggle between former geniuses and billionaires.' http://fallout.wikia.com/wi...

30fps sucks. Especially on an OLED.

Would be nice if they had New Vegas ready as well, especially because of the show.

Hopefully this doesn't have the same performance issues as Oblivion Remastered.

cloganart134d ago

I haven't seen anything on these performance issues? What's been going on?

walken7134d ago

Probably the Unreal Engine issues, I skipped it for that reason.

Snookies12135d ago (Edited 135d ago )

Throw in all the DLC as well, like Oblivion and I'll definitely bite. I recall having one trophy left to unlock on the PS3 version with 100+ hours in my save. When my save file got corrupted, lol. Very sad day.

To be fair though, Bethesda was trash at Playstation ports anyway.

Michiel1989134d ago

all devs sucked at porting to ps3 for the first like 3 years because no one had experience with the cell architecture. Even 1st party took a long while to get proficient with it, the difference between uncharted 1 and 3 is massive for example.

Extermin8or3_134d ago

Oh oh oh I can do this too. GTA 7 will be made at some point in the future. Fallout 5 will enter development in the future too

jznrpg134d ago

Everyone there should know most gamers want New Vegas and Morrowind more than anything.

Christopher134d ago

Which is why we won't get them. Gotta keep floating "support this one and it might happen".

BlaqMagiq1134d ago

Can't wait. Won't have to go back to my PS3 to play this when it comes out.
