Beats a 60 minute slot on a stage..by quite a margin :)

--Onilink--4401d ago

are you actually going to be in the audience for any of the conferences?? because otherwise, we are all just watching a streaming video...

That live Smash Bros tournament and the ability to play Smash U early is going to earn Nintendo some SERIOUS attention this year.
Much, much better than that single Direct from last year!

Also, Fils-a-Mech is going to be meme'd so badly....XD

From my understanding, the main concern people have with this approach as opposed to the live stage show, is the lack of atmosphere. When the big reveals comer out and the old E3 crowds would be going fking mental, 2004 Zelda is the best example of that. So why not just show the DigitalEvent to a live audience and have the best of both worlds. They're using the theatre already for the Smash Bros tournament, so why not have the E3 show, shown off to a live audience with all the woops and man tears, then go straight into the Tourney. All without stopping the stream.

There's a difference this time around;
unlike the early 2000's when E3 was awesome, the recent E3 audiences are comprised solely of press.
No public attendance for the press conferences unless under special circumstances.
They've become decidedly less exciting to watch since that happened.

E3 itself, the game demo's and such, is at the Los Angeles Convention Center and as far as i know the Nokia Theatre isn't a part of it. Correct me if i'm wrong. So why don't Nintendo just let people in the theatre to watch the show and then just carry it on with the SB tournament?

they let youtube in sensation chuggaconroy into e3

wonderfulmonkeyman4401d ago

Because they won't need to.
They'll be doing a live stream from Nintendo Treehouse, which will run throughout the entire 3 days of E3 instead of just an hour on stage, on top of their digital show, on top of the coverage of the Invitational.

To me smash brows Melee is my all time favorite. I can't tell you how many hours I played that game between friends and family. When I was a kid, my parents couldn't afford a gaming console so I had to go somewhere that had an arcade like setup with the only difference being instead of arcade cabinets, they had big screen crt TV's and gaming consoles setup. I would go with my friends on special occasions after school or with my family on the weekends.

I would meet and make new friends at that place as we were all gamers and we also brought our game boys and would trade pokemon. I don't think those places exist these days but back then, it was easy to meet like-minded people and have fun for hours.

Well, I’ll add my extremely subjective ranking too. I won’t include the 3DS version as I don’t owned it. I did play it for a few minutes though.

5. Brawl.
4. N64 Smash
3. Ultimate
2. Wiiu Smash
1. Melee

Yup Ultimate for me BY FAR is my favorite.

Ten Overdue Fighters for Smash Bros.

VGChartz's Mark Nielsen: "While the future of Smash Bros. has been uncertain for a while - whether Nintendo will build on Ultimate or bring us a new entry entirely - within all likelihood a new Nintendo system still means something new for Smash Bros. is on the horizon, and that something will almost certainly include new fighters, however many or few. While this might be the gaming article equivalent of putting up Christmas decorations in October, it’s never too early to start speculations when it comes to Smash Bros. before two thirds of everything inevitably gets leaked ahead of time. Keep in mind that this is not a list of predictions for future newcomers, though a few could perhaps fit in that same category, but rather a small list of the characters that in this writer’s humble opinion are overdue an appearance in the gaming crossover to end all crossovers."
