Kickstarts being around after all the failed projects, scams, and crummy final products with lies on promises made is a bit of a mistake. There have been very few truly successful things to come out of Kickstarters. Ouya is probably the biggest joke to ever come out with how made it was plus the broken promises. Broken Age was the only thing that comes to mind that was truly successful.
Kickstarter is a great thing.
Some of the people trying to take advantage of it are not though.
I believe Scammers use Kickstarter as a means of stealing public money legally, with a front creating a said game.
