This game doesn't seem to be gaining the hype they want it to, still the game looks pretty good to me, just comes down to pricing. I have a feeling they're going to try charging full next gen prices for this & it'll flop big time if it tries it.

OC_MurphysLaw4413d ago

If PAX East is anything to go by I would say it actually is gaining a ton of hype/fan support. It was the game that everyone was glowing about coming out of PAX last week. If it can have the same ground swell at E3 it should do just fine.

Rivitur4413d ago

I hear that the lines were bigger for evolve than anything else at PAX.

Stapleface4413d ago

I'd have to ask what is a "full next gen price"? Considering games have been at a $60 price tag for the past 3 gens. Hell, that's not even that bad. I remember paying $75 for Mortal Kombat 3 when it released on the Sega Genesis. The thing is, this is going to be a new IP, not a re release @ $60. Not to mention it's a full game, not a demo. With the fan base they built with L4D, I think they will be just fine. People know that these devs know how to make a good multiplayer experience. (BTW, I'm not comparing MK3 to modern games. MK3 was well worth the $75, I'd be hard pressed to find a game now days I could say that about.)

randomass1714413d ago

It will probably remain at $60 for a while. My hope is that some day game development for big games like these become cheap enough for them to sell games for as much or less than Blurays and DVDs. It would help the industry immensely.

Am I the only one that thinks this will get boring fast?

90Supra4408d ago

You're not alone...

It looks like a lot of fun to play, but for how long?

Level design will play a huge role in the longevity of the game imo...

randomass1714413d ago

PAX would like a word with you. :P People who have played this are loving the crap out of it. I think this will spread by word of mouth just like Left 4 Dead did. Looks so fun to play.

I'm one of the people that pre-ordered both L4D & L4D2. So I understand what to expect with this game & it does look pretty awesome but I wont be paying £50-60 for it.

I'll wait till it gets to £30 or below then I'll pick it up.

By next-gen prices what I'm talking about is the inflation of games in the UK since this gen released. We're now paying an extra £15-20 which in dollars is around an extra $25-35 each. So the US would be paying $100.69 with current conversion rates.

Would you put down $100 for this type of game??

Stapleface4413d ago

No I wouldn't. Not for any game for that matter. I'd be waiting for price drops. IDK if your a pc gamer or not, but places like G2A have great deals. You can use paypal where your at right? I'm sure they take other payment methods. Those prices are crazy, that sucks to hear.

1nsomniac4413d ago

Yea G2A is a good place I've found out about recently with PayPal.

I managed to get South Park Stick of Truth for £18 & TitanFall for £22 both on PC which are still cheaper than console games but console games are much harder to find at good prices these days.

Wait....I thought this game was a 3rd person game.

It looks good though!

@coomanrico
Ahhh....I see! Thanks!

Coolmanrico4413d ago

I think it's only third person when you playing as the monster.

randomass1714413d ago

Third person for the monster and first person for the humans.

Grimhammer004413d ago

correct.
also, the monster has multiple evolutions....you can opt to not eat/grow to full size....allowing for different tactics.

also, their are multiple monsters to choose from....they've just only shown the one in the trailer.

their is dlc monsters too. EB games has a pre-order where you get the first dlc monster free. (when it arrives)

chracters & monsters all have full progression systems ala every shooter ever these days.

so lots to keep you motivated for the long haul.
hopefully theirs huge map variety and quantity. a game like this needs that i think.

i've got mine pre-ordered!

Report: Evolve 2 Was Once in Development, Concept Art Reveals Scrapped Sequel

It has been recently revealed by an artist that a sequel to the 2015 title Evolve was in the works. However, this project wouldn't last long.

jznrpg300d ago

Didn’t bother with the first one.

TheColbertinator300d ago

All I wanted was Left 4 Dead 3 instead

Abnor_Mal300d ago

Was this game ahead of its time? A few years later games like Dead By Daylight, Friday the 13th and other asymmetrical games exploded onto the scene.

MeteorPanda300d ago

if lm not mistaken it started the asymmetrical pvp matches. Evolves logo was a nod to their concept.

The_Blue300d ago

They should have because I played the first one when it was already dead

Evolve or Die: The final days of the follow-up to Left 4 Dead

Back in 2016, Turtle Rock announced that support for its 4v1 monster-hunting shooter Evolve would end but fans wouldn't let it die.

‘Evolve: Stage 2’ is back from the dead as peer-to-peer servers come back online

From NME: "Evolve: Stage 2 had its multiplayer servers shut down back in 2018, but today players are once again able to matchmake and join peer-to-peer multiplayer games.

Several months ago, peer-to-peer functionality was lost for Evolve Legacy, which was the only way fans of the series could play with friends. Upon a multitude of players reaching out to publisher 2K, the issue was eventually fixed earlier in July. It seems 2K have gone a step further now, and reinstated peer-to-peer and matchmaking functionality for Evolve: Stage 2 after four years."

MIDGETonSTILTS171390d ago

^^this, I have so many awesome skins on Xbox that I’d rather not lose

Germaximus1390d ago

Yes so far because it's just the servers alone coming on and the console version never had the free-to-play update.

I imagine if they find people playing the PC version and enough players are enjoying it then they'd probably reconsider opening console as well but I wouldn't count on it.

The game was epic as a monster. Hunters were really boring to play as to me.

LordoftheCritics1390d ago

I used to play this a bit.

Was kinda fun.
