I'm right there with you on your first two points. Real-time weather and radio stations require an internet connection, something most people have already. It could also just be an added feature that's turned off if you don't have an internet connection. Someone will do this eventually.

A world where NPC's have your same abilities.

Take STALKER Call of Pripyat for example, the Most Immersive game ever, The NPC's hunted for artifacts, looted dead bodies, got drunk, played guitar, had fights or shootouts with each other, and basically did everything you could do.

So just sitting back and watching the NPC's made Stalker feel so much like a real world as you were equal and not some SUPERMAN among mere children.

I think you will see a lot more of that with more memory now at developers disposal on the consoles. Watch Dogs apparently is working hard on this sort of immersion.

I agree about the NPC thing. That brings the world alive. As you said, just watching NPC's interact amongst each other makes you feel part of a complete world. I also enjoy those random interactions, like in GTA and Saints Row, where they say something to you. Though, it would be cool for them to say and do more. I think that the way that they react to you is important too.

always keep it funny, fast and enjoyable

The storms in assassins creed 4 ruined the immersive factor, I've never seen a tropical storm happen in less than a minute...

I don't agree with that. I WISH I could agree with that. But buying habits and customer opinions prove otherwise

We've seen developers in the AAA space try new things and ideas. More often than not, the customers aren't willing to give things a chance, or not enough people buy into the project for it to grow.

Creativity works better in the indie space because the budgets, pressures, and expectations aren't the same.

it's a nice idea and it worked during the PS2/PS3-era when AAA didn't cost hundreds of millions of dollars. smaller budgets and shorter development time left room for more creativity and more risk. a game didn't need to sell 4 million+ copies to break even. things are different now.

This is the guy who bragged about crunching his staff and having them work through the night. Crunch culture has lost more talent and done more damage to the industry than any other factor. Screw him.
