quite the wait for a few extra pixels.
250hrs in already

BiggCMan4409d ago

And mods which will $#!T on the console version. And not just graphically, but adding loads of fun stuff to the game just like Dark Souls 1 mods. I have platinum trophy already, but I already bought the PC version months ago for 20% off because i'm just that dedicated to this series. Don't hate on PC games because you aren't able to play them.

"And mods which will $#!T on the console version. "

With ppl like you spreading comments like that, you are sure to bring ppl in /s

Bimkoblerutso4409d ago (Edited 4409d ago )

^You mean as opposed to people spreading comments like "quite the wait for a few extra pixels"?

BiggCMan tackled it like a douche, but there are certain benefits to PC gaming over console gaming, mods being one of them.

There are advantages to console gaming too, so everyone just stop getting butt-hurt over nothing.

randomass1714409d ago

Yeah, tastelessly downplaying the competition is not how you promote yourself. Talk about the positives of the PC version without attacking consoles.

starchild4408d ago

Better resolution, much faster and smoother framerates, much better anti-aliasing, better texture filtering, plus whatever other graphical elements are superior on the PC version all add up to a significantly better-looking and performing version of the game. Not to mention the mods, which alone will elevate the game far past the console versions.

Anyway, all of that is true, but that's not to say that the console versions aren't enjoyable games in their own right.

If you call 2.25X more pixels "a few extra", not to mention a much smoother framerate which is paramount to responsive gameplay (which can only improve a skill-based game like DS2). I expect you won't be buying next gen consoles either then, clearly those few extra pixels and improved performance aren't worth it to you, not to mention greater texture resolution.

And who knows, maybe they've decided to plug in that old lighting engine that was peculiarly absent from your "advance" copy...

Dante814409d ago

PC gamers have a lot more games to play. Also, an older audience tends to have more patience.

vishmarx4409d ago (Edited 4409d ago )

thats exactly how youre behaving
older.lol.
did I really say anything negative about the pc?
all I said was that 2 months is a lot of wait for the scale of upgrade the pc version is getting for what is essentially the same game, in my friggin OPINION.
but god help me for having that.
and as far as patience goes,
you telling me that pc gamers who plan on buying this will be willing to wait for this even after this comes out till they finish the awesome 'lot' of games you mentioned in your post.its not patience so much as reluctance.
i wasnt flaming anyone in my post.
dont try n make it look like that

LordSane4409d ago

@vishmarx wow! chill man, he didn't say anything negative about consoles either and you already angry on him just because he said something good about PC gamers.

vishmarx4409d ago

@LordSane
yeah lets pretend
"older audience"
" lot more games to play"
are clearly not jabs at console gamers

LightofDarkness4409d ago (Edited 4409d ago )

Wow, you're basically doing the exact same thing you're accusing him of doing (which he didn't). You were clearly just chomping at the bit, waiting for any reply at all that you could go off on a wild anti-PC tangent over, but I think you've blown your wad a little too early. It's quite clear from any discussion that I've seen you in that civility is beyond you, and all you're really worried about is doggedly hassling PC gamers.

its sad to see people have to pick special wording to have even the poorest of arguments. "few extra pixels"
like they just added a few here and there in the game randomly, unnoticeable.

1080p native, double the framerate, much higher texture resolution, anti-aliasing, mods. Its worth it considering how long people will be playing the game to have a superior version. But whatever makes you feel better about your console and purchase

starchild4408d ago

And it's not just double the framerate. Most of us have PCs that will run this at a SOLID 60fps, whereas the console versions have frequent drops well below 30fps.

Wigriff4409d ago

Except:

Bandai Namco has confirmed to MCV that the physical release of Dark Souls 2 has been pushed back to May 2, but the digital version remains on track for April 25.

"This is only affecting the UK on the boxed release of the game," Namco told the site. "It will be delayed unfortunately and we apologise to UK customers. This is due to a manufacturing issue with packaging. To confirm this will only affect the UK boxed launch."

randomass1714409d ago

Is the physical confirmed to be a limited release? Why is that version getting pushed back but not the digital? Seems kind of random.

kingduqc4409d ago

720p is 0.900m pixels

1440p is 3.600

25 fps vs 60 fps

the difference is 23 million pixel per second vs 221 million pixels per second. Almost 10 times more shown on the screen isn't "few" and for a game you plat hundred of hours well it's well worth it.

Back-to-Back4408d ago

I'd rather play Ds2 on consoles anyday than the ghost town in pc. Fact is the most skilled pvp players are on pc.

Not to mention, but without VAC on the PC version hackers will turn that game to shit just like they did with ds1.

Somebody4408d ago

"Bandai Namco have confirmed this delay is just for UK physical copies. Customers outside the UK or who are picking up digital copies will remain unaffected."

Yes. Those UK physical copies are super important for those extra pixels.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! PC Gamers boned again.

LightofDarkness4409d ago

Meh, it's only one more week. I've had so much to play between Infamous, Titanfall, Bravely Default and everything I picked up last week during the PSN sale that I've been more than entertained and will be right up to then too (I never knew Dragons Dogma was so fantastic). Now is the time to hack into that back-log.

F4sterTh4nFTL4409d ago

Hoping for Ultra High Res Textures.

Dynasty20214409d ago

Only the mods will sort that.

ocelot074409d ago

ffs I suppose it is only one week. But I have not looked at any video's or news about this game since it was announced as I knew I would be uncontrollably pumped for it. Do you realise how hard it is to not watch all these live streams or gameplay vids on youtube? But it is only 1 extra week so it won't be so bad will it?

Blastoise4409d ago

You're not missing much to be honest

Why Dark Souls 2 Deserves a Second Chance in 2025

As difficult and frustrating as it is, people should consider reliving the Dark Souls 2 experience, especially because of what's coming to the game.

Many of those who hate Dark Souls II hate it because it's not Dark Souls. The same people love Dark Souls III because it isn't Dark Souls II.

And so many of the issues at the centre of common complaints about DS2 are present in DS3 and sometimes even DS1. The hatred and bile spewed over this perfectly decent game is ludicrous.

CrimsonWing69364d ago

I don’t think it’s a terrible game, but like a movie sequel by a different director, for me, it does NOT capture any of the “magic” felt from the Miyazaki entries. Boss battles don’t feel epic, environments don’t have the same sense of awe, the enemy variety isn’t particularly interesting, the art direction just feels bland, about the only thing I can give it praise for is some of the music.

Now, again, this is only how I feel about it, so I’m not trying to invalidate his you feel about the game, but it is the worst entry in the series due to those factors and it’s the least re-visited entry, for me.

Is it decent as a game on its own? Sure. But in comparison to the Miyazaki entries, it does not stack up and I believe that’s where many were disappointed with it.

PrimeVinister364d ago

Completely fair. I cannot disagree either, mate.

MrWood364d ago (Edited 364d ago )

You can also play it in VR flawlessly on PC & controller with the LukeRoss mod so… another reason to jump back in with extra immersion.

jznrpg364d ago

It’s not a bad game it’s just not as good as the others

Shadow Man364d ago

The controls felt very clunky to me, I tried playing it after beating Darksouls 3 and it didn’t feel fluid, obviously the hit detection is less superior for been an older game.

Man, I dunno about that. In fact, most boss fights in Dark Souls 2 were forgettable.
