Halo 3's Matchmaking Getting New Updates

Mustafa Unal from XboxFoucs.com writes:

"After the jump you can check out the changes Bungie will be making for June's playlist update including the addition of 'Head to Head' and updating the MLG game type with the V5 maps. Personally I'm glad Bungie added the MLG type on matchmaking, it's not only a blast to play but it's tough getting back into the standard Halo 3 settings once you've played it."

Bungie is doing everything to get Halo 3 back on top aren't they?

canadianpatriot6575d ago

They sold 8 million copies they dont need to do anything

Presentist6575d ago

He means on top of XBL. They've been behind COD4 since release so yes, the OP was right, they're trying pretty hard.

canadianpatriot6575d ago

...but there still rolling in tons of cash

1stKnighT6575d ago

Actually Halo 3 has almost three times more individuals playing Halo 3 than COD4 because of the splitscreens but they dont count that in the total multiplayer counts. Halo 3 is still number 1.

Presentist6575d ago

Doesn't matter to me, I got sick of Halo 3 in a month, the new maps are awful.

But here I am, 6 months of COD4 and I still am incredibly hooked...

I really don't care about numbers, I care about quality.

Bungie is doing the same thing it's been doing since Halo 2. They have always released updates and DLC for their games. They do it to keep the fans happy, plain and simple.

Why do you people think that they are reacting to CoD4 (great game, and i'm not taking away anything from it), but it hasn't changed Bungie's gameplan. They have not changed. They are known for keeping their fans happy, they are great developers and deserve all the praise they have been getting. They cater to their audience.

You all really have to get over this competition thing, especially coming into a Halo thread talking about CoD4. Really get over yourselves, it's not really that serious. If you prefer CoD4, fine, but for all those that prefer Halo 3, and the article isn't comparing it to CoD4, then your responses are not needed. Case-end-point.

Presentist6575d ago (Edited 6575d ago )

Perhaps you should read the comments and the responses before voicing your opinion. Fact of the matter is I was responding to someones comment, so there's no reason to solely blame me.

I understand that you want to keep these stories "clean" from other game discussion, point being that people have opinions, they dislike or like other games and Halo 3 is in direct competition with COD4. I'm just voicing which one I think is of higher caliber, and they've both had similar updates in order to sustain activity on XBL.

Perhaps you should try reading the comments in their entirety next time.

iheartSONY6575d ago

The author of the article mentions CoD4 in this article. So he himself speaks of CoD4 when Halo 3 is brought up. Even though you hate reading, sometimes you should click on the jump and read just so you don't sound like an azz.

And I welcome the update to Halo 3!

Viva Halo 3!

Hahahahahahaha...hilarious

Dareaver16574d ago

@ Presentist, where did i single you out....? Did i comment directly to you (the way i am doing now?) please calm down. It wasn't directed soley at you. It was a general statement. You really don't need to take it personal, and i did read the other comments, so i stand by what i said. It wasn't targeted soley at you.....shhhhh...

@ iheartSony.... huh.... He states his personal preference. Again what does he say that is comparing Halo3 to CoD4? Let me quote it for you; "Since Call of Duty 4 is my FPS anti-drug at the moment, this news doesn’t have a huge impact on me personally, but surely there are those among us at Xbox Focus who is still trying to perfect their ‘noob combo’ skills so here you are." so why don't you inform me where in that, that he is comparing Halo3 to CoD4. I see him stating his preference, but that's it. So maybe should take your little personal attacks at someone elsewhere, and it's one thing to read, but it's another to understand and interpret what you read. Sorry if seeing CoD4 mentioned means that the article is comparing CoD4 to Halo 3. You can really interpret well. (just in case you are having trouble interpreting that, i was being sarcastic)

My comment was not targeted to be taken as some kind of malice towards CoD4 fans, it's just that the CoD4 comments are not needed because this article is about updates to Halo3. There is no need to compare CoD4 or bring it up. I mean, is CoD4 getting the same updates? You all tell me, maybe i missed something.

It's nice to see that Bungie is still thinking about Halo 3.

Breakfast6575d ago

YES! The return of One on One!!! Love me some intense one on one. Bring it on!!!!!!!!

SixZeroFour6575d ago

is that they are always close knit with the community, always taking ideas and feed back in forums, and constantly making halo better multiplayer-wise

i dont see that with many other games, i mean yes, they usually follow up with patches when needed to, but you dont see many taking input from the community and actually trying to follow up with the requests

didnt care much about graphics or lighting/textures in game, as long as it is enjoyable im fine with that

Bolts6574d ago

True. Thats because they have roots as PC devs and PC devs tend to listen to the community more. Good luck trying to get console devs to give a damn 'cause they don't. Most console games are considered as done, these guys already moved on to their next project to give a damn.

Underrated comment. I used to hate that game so much that any time my siblings asked me to play it, I just picked Hom and shut myself down mid-match.

And then MK1 killed it again.

15 years went by so fast. I remember playing through the story mode at launch.
