It would be tough to optimize DX12 on the outdated Source engine.

christocolus4424d ago (Edited 4424d ago )

Yeah, i think so too but its nice to know that at this stage they do not require dx12 to optimize the game or increase the resolution, MS must be working really hard to improve the current sdk.

Hope they get the updates out soon enough..

AngelicIceDiamond4424d ago

Regarding DX12 I think MS might have some 1st party titles utilizing the API. Though its coming to devs in lats 2015 I hope 1st party has some early access at least.

Gozer4424d ago

The first games using DX12 are supposed to show up holiday 2015. So I would imagine 1st party and some 3rd parties are already developing with DX12.

NO idea why they went with 792p rather than setting it at 720p to help maintain the 60 fps threshold.

DarkLordMalik4424d ago

So that they can say it is greater than 720p pre-release.

bobacdigital4424d ago

There is literally no discernible difference between 720 and 792 .. Just seems like wasted production time on something so trivial .. especially considering they have no problem setting most all their other games at 720 outputting to 1080.

Elit3Nick4424d ago

because the frame rate issues have nothing to do with hardware limitations, they already said that it's due to an outdated physics engine

Elit3Nick4423d ago (Edited 4423d ago )

Except the fact that it affects the PC version as well...

Why are you even here, you're obviously a fanboy

redcar1214424d ago

This is great news cant wait 4 upgrade

GarrusVakarian4424d ago (Edited 4424d ago )

I wouldn't get your hopes up for that, even at 792p it struggles to maintain 60fps and has constant screen tearing.....yes i own it and play it everyday, so i have the right to say this :p

I don't think they would have too much of a problem running the game at 900p for general pilot vs pilot gameplay, but the poop tends to hit the fan in terms of framerate as soon as the titans are brought into the mix. When i play it, i can easily feel the difference in how smooth the game is between pilot and titan gameplay and it's distracting, not enough for me to stop playing, but it is certainly annoying.

I would gladly sacrifice a little of the res (down to 720p) to help the framerate. I don't see them increasing the res while also increasing the stability of the framerate and the screen-tearing though....but i would love to be proven wrong.

On a slightly off-topic note, i decided to 'regenerate' to a gen 2 pilot today and instantly regretted it. I like progressing through the ranks again, but i miss my multi-missile targeting system so bad :( Now i have nothing and have to use pre-set titan loadouts. This reminds me why i never prestiged in cod.....

frankdrebin724424d ago

regardless of the pains you struggle with,..i take it you enjoy the game?

GarrusVakarian4424d ago (Edited 4424d ago )

@frankdebrin

I didn't say i had "pains i struggle with", i said i get annoyed/distracted by the framerate drops and the screen tears....which is fact, the game does suffer from those things. Does my criticism of this game annoy you because of my self-confessed preference for Sony? Would you have said that same snarky remark to someone else?

And to answer the latter half of your comment, clearly im enjoying it to have 'regenerated'. I'm enjoying it immensely in fact. Atlas mech + 40mm cannon (three round burst)+ electric smoke (to deal with those damn rodeo pilots)+ multi-missile targeting system is such a fun combination, all i ever want to do is hurry up and get my titan back. I think the pilot gameplay itself is pretty boring apart from the wall-running.

Sigh...to the people disagreeing with my first comment, read the Eurogamer article about what would be required in order to run this game at 900p. I never said it won't happen, just that you shouldn't hold your breath for it and frankly....people should be asking for a more solid 60fps than worrying about a res bump.

VegasDawg4424d ago

Why in every MS article with good news you disagree and anything Sony is the greatest thing on earth? I smell a fanBOY, please stop pretending see some of us actually read other articles and can see through your BS machine, get a life.

GarrusVakarian4424d ago (Edited 4424d ago )

@ VegasDawg

I really, really am getting sick and tired of people like you. Seriously. You only read the "negatives" of my comments and completely ignore the parts where i give praise and openly say things like "immensely enjoying it, in fact" or where i describe my perfect titan load-out. How is that a "BS machine"? I'm giving criticism and praise in the same comment, if you can't handle my opinions then ignore me, because that's exactly what im going to be doing to you from now on. Nothing i ever say on here will be regarded as sincere by you, or people like you, so i might as well just ignore you and carry on.

"Why in every MS article with good news you disagree "

I didn't even disagree with good news. The good news here is the patch that Respawn are working on, why the HELL would i disagree with something that will make my experience with the game better? I disagreed with someone for expecting 900p from a game that already struggles to reach 60fps at 792p.

Your personal hatred for me is changing your perception on my comments, how is that fair? Just get used to the fact that i have an X1 and i am enjoying it while simultaneously giving criticisms. And before you say i only criticize X1/MS, i also criticized Infamous SS for not having enough variety in its side missions and the campaign being on the short side.

@Ausbo

Agreed. Very rarely will i forgive performance mishaps, but i tend to be forgiving of them with this game due to the gameplay being so fun.

Ausbo4424d ago

There is a ton of Screen tearing in this game. It is forgivable though because the game is so damn fun

Although the late 2000s Turok wasn't my favorite, I would love a new entry. Open world survival with shotguns and dinosaurs. Not sure how we'd get the fusion cannon, but that would be pretty sweet too.

MadLad1350d ago

Lol

All of these games are pretty much universally praised. Outside of Timeshift I literally own all of these.

Venoxn4g1349d ago (Edited 1349d ago )

XIII, The Darkness 2, Far Cry: Blood Dragon, Timesplitters: future perfect, Bulletstorm are awesome games

I played them all, they are all good in their own way
I used to be obsessed with FPS games

An ode to Titanfall: The last twitch shooter I'll probably ever enjoy

Windows Central: "Titanfall 1 is being sunset, taken off storefronts by EA. While the servers remain live for now, one has to wonder just how much time it has left. I look back and pay tribute to the last "twitch"-styled shooter I ever truly loved."
