Really I don't understand why he hate Gamestop so much and for petty reasons that could be tolerated or avoided.

Horrible odor? Little kids being kids? that could all be tolerated for the most part but I got a question what are the main reasons for gamers to hate Gamestop so much? I really don't understand

P.S.I kinda understand when he complained about walking out the store and walking back to trade in a game that was quite bad and it not like this nation wide is it? but then again I rarely see ppl buy 2 copies of the same game(unless it is a directors cut editon or something)

I work at Gamestop. Gamestop sucks. But this guy is a whiner. Here, allow me to show the other side, with 5 things I hate about Customers Who Come to Gamestop.

1) Pretentious, presumptuous, and fanboyish people who just started gaming with their mommy's bought XBox 360/PS3 coming in, acting like they know how the industry works, saying what sucks and what doesn't, and generally wasting my time with their BS "opinions." Some kid tried to tell me the DS sucked because it had "less graphics" than the 360. I don't care, enjoy the games, don't start a fanboy war in my store.

2) Uneducated customers who have no idea what they are buying. I try to offer alternatives and popular/good titles, but they want the next Wii Fit (IE whatever is marketed). No, I don't want this, this, or that. Don't buy a Wii, then COMPLAIN TO ME that there are no new good games to play. Do your own research before investing in a console, as I told you 3 months earlier.

3) People playing the demo stations, not buying anything, and trying to show off. I don't care that you can 5 Star in GH3... If I hear Dragonforce one more time I'm putting the guitar through your teeth. Buy the damn game or get out.

4)People who don't bathe. People who let their children touch everything, don't say a word, then leave. Yeah, I don't want to RE-ALPHABETIZE the goddamn PS2 section again because your kid can't keep his hands to himself. Also, don't put a game back in the wrong place when I JUST took it off the shelf to show you not 2 seconds before.

5) Gamestop itself. It's a joke. Yes, I hate pushing reserves and subscriptions on you just as much as you do, but that is what dictates our further employment, and while its no high life, it pays the bills in this crappy time of high gas prices.

Don't like it? Don't shop there. But don't be a whiner like this guy, as for every idiot customer or associate, there are good, informed, smart gamers to balance it out.

I don't know where the heck that Gamestop is located, but I haven't run across some of the stuff he's talking about.

However, I do agree with the 4th thing he said about Gamestop employees trying to get people to place pre-orders on upcoming game titles or sales pitches, I just can't stand that when I'm shopping. I pre-order all of my games Online from Gamestop so I never end up placing a pre-order in the store.

Almost every store you go like Target and Best Buy try to get you to sign up for their credit card or something and it just gets annoying sometimes. When I go into Gamestop, I already know what game I'm getting and I go in and walk out within 5 minutes.

They usually don't have what I'm looking for or the price is wrong (overpriced used games). The employee's at the Gamestop and EBgames I visit have very nice (albeit geeky) employee's who are willing to offer suggestions (that aren't half bad) and find things on the fly. The only reason I go to Gamestop is because of unique game related merchandise (Hori Arcade Stick, special edition game not offered elsewhere, etc). The point of this article is silly; if you don't like the store...don't go there. I am an impulse buyer and get my fix at Best Buy...where I accumulate Reward Zone points and am not hassled by sales employees. In that way its like I'm getting a 20-30% discount on games after building up enough credit.

The only bad experience I've had with Gamestop is the infamous Edgecard/Game Informer tie in deal. I was receiving a steady stream of GI issues and than a few months ago...they stopped (even though my card doesn't expire till Nov). It was easy to report the problem but it was 2 months before they rectified the situation (I got my first new mag 2 days ago). I haven't moved in more than a year so I'm not sure what the deal was. They extended the subscription by 2 months so everything is cool.

One GameStop I typical go to isn't that bad. The sales people are knowledgeable or at least have good opinions the people shopping there and friendly most of the time and give me recommendations and what not some times when I'm just browsing. I don't mind if the sales guy tries to sell me a pre-order its their job so w/e it's fine with me though it may annoy some.

However I do occasionally go to a GameStop downtown because it's closer to where I live now. Well anyways one time I was down there buying a copy of Kingdom Hearts 1-2 because i had played it a bit in the past and decided to buy it. Well why I was down there Crysis had just come out i had played it already thought it was terrible bad story bad gameplay terrible MP and the Sales rep. came over to me told me "You hear about Crysis at all that came out for the PC" i replied i had played it didn't think it was that great the graphics were good but you need an amazing comp to play it and so it was terrible how it was release. He told me and I quote "Well that just cause you have a crappy computer and can't play it at the fullest" okay first off you never tell any customer their computer or what ever they have is crappy. I told him bought my computer a month ago and dropped 3 grand on it and it was pretty top of the line not the best but good enough for any game out there and that Crysis ran at 20fps even with those spec. He told me I didn't know what I was talking about and had it set wrong. So I told him he was a rude and that I wouldn't shop at their location again and left. So now I shop at the GameStop I know and trust. So don't judge them all because of some.

I should add for myself, that I only shop there because of used games really (once in a while I'll by accessories because their "gamestop brand" ones are pretty cheap, and they're simply name brand ones with the Gamestop logo smacked on), as there's really no where else you can get decent used game selections around me.

I never, EVER, preorder games other than MMOs. With MMOs there is an actual incentive and content for preordering. With games like GTA 4 and the like preordering is utterly pointless. If Gamestop want me to preorder from them then I better get something extra in return. Its not like there is a limited quanity on games, usually after the first week any given game can be found anywhere.

Many examples... many, many, many examples, but my most recent,... I called a few hours before closing on the midnight of GTA's launch, and he said I had to have the credit card holder there, even thought I got the preorder myself. I asked him if he assumed I stole a preorder slip, and he said yes. Supposedly people find them in the trash can and try and get games with them, or so he claimed. So then I said just let me come by and pick it up at midnight. He said no. I said, why are you giving me sh1t? then he got all whiney, then I said WTF is your problem, then he was a b1tch and said he didn't have to take this and he hung up on me. then I saw him that night in the store and he looked like the biggest F@GGOT on the face of the world.

I go to EB for Sherry. She so much as kicks off a shoe or I see her bare elbow and it's chub city. man is she hot. When I traded in my GC there I left drool marks on the counter. On topic, if you get poor treatment there, write head office.

what have you guys got against pre ordering? i don't get it. i pre order all the time.

if I'm getting it release day, i know theres gonna be one there waiting for me. if I'm pre ordering a game thats sold out, they call me when its in to let me know i can come and get it.

The 3 different GameStop's I've been at in Denmark were pretty fine.
Only thing I hate about it are the prices... they're just... insane.
Games usually cost 115-125 USD, it's just insane.

Oh, there was this one guy at the GTA IV launch event. He went up and asked if it was true that the Bard class is coming to WoW (even Blizzard said that it was an april fools joke a few days later).
The clerk laughed and said "I'm 99.6% sure it was a joke"... how about that for a stupid reaction and reply. Even if it was a stupid question, that's not a way to talk to your customers.

whoever wrote this crappy article missed the most important fact: gamestop sells open/unsealed games that come out of a paper sleeve from a drawer, in a display case with a price sticker on it for the NEW price. f that. f gamestop. i havent shopped at a gamestop in a many years. ill get my games at a circuit city or best buy or anywhere else its behind glass, sealed.

I remember back in the 90's going to EB and seeing tons of used consoles and games. They used to house NES/SNES, I mean, anything. Now Gamestop is merely a ripoff "buy this used instead or pay more for the same new product" cesspool.

I hate how their used games are so overpriced and I can't stand how innacurate their release date always are.

And screw their preorders, I'm not making a deposit to the bank of gamestop.

Is how if they are suppose to be employees,so shouldn't you atleast know due dates a System selling games? They had to look up Halo3 among other games i knew the due dates to. Just testing them hehe most haven't even hear of N4G, lol Krazy huh!?

The lack of PC games kind of sucks. I have all three consoles, but every so often I would like to play a PC game. Best Buy has twice the PC games as my local Gamestop.

Their phone system that calls you doesn't always work either. This past Wednesday my wife bought the "Wii Fit", we did not get the automatic message the night before to tell us it would be in. Wednesday evening we got the call after we had already bought it and was using it, duh!

All these are very true... The one I hate the most is would you like to pre-order anything today, "NO", are you sure gears of war 2 , MGS, Socom,.... When I say NO thats doesn't mean sure whats coming out,. Gamestops not the only one GameCrazy is real bad as well.....I pre-oder GTA 4, picked it up at 12am, They still were doing the whole pitch... I was 15th in line and left the store at 1am.... I told the guy when I got to the counter "All i want is my GTA 4 THATS IT" are you sure GOW 2, Haze, MGS, Socom comes out.. I nearly Punched the guy thinking thats what it might take to get these guys to shut up and let me leave... if it's not a midnight release then I go else where now for games, I avoid Gamestop and Gamecrazy as much as I Can... Also when they hire these people they should know something about Videogames, I ask if they got Haze in and the guy said "what system sir" ARE YOU F***ing KIDDING ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!

Can't stand gamestop. There used to be a good Ebgames in the mall near me but when it changed over to Gamestop it went down hill. I refuse to enter the stores but I still have friends who shop there. A Friend went to pick up a Copy of Persona 3 Fes and it took him nearly 30mins cause the only person on job was being a slow lazy idiot and then when he finally started to check him out asked if he would like to pre order like 5 different games and tried to convince him to do so for each. After that he asked if he would like to subscribe to some crap. It was crap like that that made me decide to ditch the damn place and go elsewhere.

Gamefly = better way to buy games without the hassle.

First off I work in retail and yes there are things you have to do. Pre-orders are probally a mandatory thing to ask for, secondly all you have to say is NO THANK YOU!!!! Anyway my Gamestop has always had knowledgeable, friendly people and until just recently good friends of mine whom with I would frequently visit for several hours as we talked. So I think maybe you should stop whining and if you don't like it there, stop shopping at that store. Believe me I have seen my share of foul-smelling cavemen and women, and as for the kids hogging the demo units try asking them to let you play for a moment. Unless they are evil they should let you play, and if not oh well! Lastly there are rude, unprofessional people everywhere and unless you plan on being a hermit for the rest of your life you have to interact with all kinds of people. So please grow-up and move on.

i once went to gamestop looking for warioware for gamecube. the manager told me it didn't exist and it's only for gameboy. i told him I've played it before. he started yelling at me trying to convince me that i was making that up until i found the box and shoved it in his face. biggest asshole salesman ive ever met.

II don't live in America but when i do visit it the act all annoyed if you ask when a game's comming ou you don't like amoungst other stuff, but hey there are worse places, ever heard of Gamestation in the UK, there' a bunch of w@nkers, you could be 25 and they'd still ask you for an ID, they know fuk all about computer games, they think because they work in a game store it makes them gamming gods, how wrong can these inbreads be, another thing about gamestation, there all sad losers with no life who have never been laid and never will get laid, geeks.

i only get a game there if they have exclusive LE versions. otherwise i don't buy stuff from there.
