‘Evolve’ Release Date Outed?

The release date for Turtle Rock’s upcoming multiplayer co-op shooter, Evolve, may have been outed by two online retailers. UK supermarket ASDA has the game listed for a September 9th release while an Australian retailer has the game set for launch on September 5th. It’s worth noting that these dates fall on a Tuesday and Friday which is typically when new games are released.

hopefully not....destiny releases on September 9th...and I don't think I will be able to play both of these games at once

d4v03334334d ago

agreed...hopefully not cause that would be bad idea and im sure Destiny will make this game not sell a lot if it does come out on September 9th

Lawboy24334d ago

that's what im afraid of...I actually want this game...but I feel that destiny will take up a lot of my time and it would be a waste to buy both

supraking9514334d ago

Id pick Destiny over this if true

MeLoveRamen4334d ago

I don't know man this game looks very intriguing, to me it looks like its trying something different and looks incredibly and we all know that turtle rock has the pedigree to make amazing games; didn't they make left 4 dead and counterstrike? Plus isn't this game only for next gen where as destiny is cross platform, that means your getting a game that is fully utilizing that hardware compared to destiny.

Not saying Destiny isn't gonna be good, quite the opposite its gonna be amazing. Bungie never disappoints except for halo reach, but i don't know something about Evolve that peeks my interest.

ill have to go with Evolve over Destiny. put so many hours into Left 4 Dead and Left 4 Dead 2 that i couldn't see myself choosing any game this fall over Evolve.

Budobear4334d ago

Thats a shame as, as has already been said its around the same time as Destiny and I have a feeling Evolve might get lost in the hype surrounding Destiny.

Stapleface4334d ago

Why is Destiny so hyped? Did I miss something? I'm pretty sure we know almost nothing about the game other than it's going to be an online FPS, and who it's going to be made by. Was there a showing of the completed game or something. All I've seen so far is that pre-Alpha build that showed, again, pretty much nothing. I want to be excited for it too, so can someone tell me what information people are getting excited about?
OT: Looking forward to Evolve, regardless of what games come out at the same time, I'll play it at some point. No one said that games must be bought on the release date or even the release month..

Stapleface4334d ago

Apparently I missed a 40 minute gameplay video about 4 months ago. LOL Looks very Borderlands 2ish, though better looking. Now I'm excited for it. Though, not enough to disregard a completely different game, especially by such a talented dev team.

BX814334d ago

40 min of gameplay for destiny or evolve? I missed that too.

Stapleface4334d ago

Not quite 40 minutes of gameplay, but close.. https://www.youtube.com/wat...

Damn, looks good. Thanks for the link. I'm not sure if I'm going to get this for ps4 or xb1. Hopefully both will end up the same. Have a bun vote for being helpful. Thanks again.

all you need to know about DESTINY is that it is being made by BUNGIE. They made HALO. Have you played Halo?
Saying that though Online only. No One player game puts me off slightly. But Bungie Made it!!!!

MeLoveRamen4334d ago

I don't think just because its made by bungie that it automatically make it a great game. Yes i will agree that this game looks amazing and a day 1 buy for me but i don't think halo is greatest thing since slice bread. Halo was my first fps and online game i ever played except for goldeneye for n64, so i do have a soft spot for bungie and halo. Saying that i really disliked the campaign in halo 2, 3 and never played 4.

If it wasn't for the online of 2 and 3 i don't think halo would be as big as it is. I think that is what bungie is known for is great multiplayer, I loved multiplayer in halo2, and 3.

Now the last game they made i completely despised the game known as halo reach. Don't get me wrong the campaign was great the best so far but the gameplay mechanics just turned me off of that game. BLOOM, having all those shield abilities didn't make it a great multiplayer experience for a lot of hardcore halo players.

So for their last game they did make gameplay errors that make me cautious about their future games, will it be made with casuals in mind, dumbing down the experience? I hope not cause destiny does look like a great game.

Report: Evolve 2 Was Once in Development, Concept Art Reveals Scrapped Sequel

It has been recently revealed by an artist that a sequel to the 2015 title Evolve was in the works. However, this project wouldn't last long.

jznrpg210d ago

Didn’t bother with the first one.

TheColbertinator210d ago

All I wanted was Left 4 Dead 3 instead

Abnor_Mal210d ago

Was this game ahead of its time? A few years later games like Dead By Daylight, Friday the 13th and other asymmetrical games exploded onto the scene.

MeteorPanda210d ago

if lm not mistaken it started the asymmetrical pvp matches. Evolves logo was a nod to their concept.

The_Blue210d ago

They should have because I played the first one when it was already dead

Evolve or Die: The final days of the follow-up to Left 4 Dead

Back in 2016, Turtle Rock announced that support for its 4v1 monster-hunting shooter Evolve would end but fans wouldn't let it die.

‘Evolve: Stage 2’ is back from the dead as peer-to-peer servers come back online

From NME: "Evolve: Stage 2 had its multiplayer servers shut down back in 2018, but today players are once again able to matchmake and join peer-to-peer multiplayer games.

Several months ago, peer-to-peer functionality was lost for Evolve Legacy, which was the only way fans of the series could play with friends. Upon a multitude of players reaching out to publisher 2K, the issue was eventually fixed earlier in July. It seems 2K have gone a step further now, and reinstated peer-to-peer and matchmaking functionality for Evolve: Stage 2 after four years."

^^this, I have so many awesome skins on Xbox that I’d rather not lose

Germaximus1300d ago

Yes so far because it's just the servers alone coming on and the console version never had the free-to-play update.

I imagine if they find people playing the PC version and enough players are enjoying it then they'd probably reconsider opening console as well but I wouldn't count on it.

The game was epic as a monster. Hunters were really boring to play as to me.

LordoftheCritics1300d ago

I used to play this a bit.

Was kinda fun.
