NVIDIA Seeks to Invalidate Mantle - Driver & DX Updates, Aggression

GamersNexus: "In my many years working on the journalism side of this industry, I've never seen nVidia put forth such an aggressive stance as exhibited during last week's press conference. We'll start this post with some rapid-fire catching up from the last few months."

Shut up and launch maxwell. It like the waiting for amd to catch up. For the last couple of yrs they been announcing new tech but Dont launch it. They just announced Pascal that 5x or more powerful than GPUs now and tech they codeveloped with Intel to get rid of bottlenecks.

So it either their waiting for Intel new CPU to fully utilize this tech or they're working with amd . Anyway release maxwell and shield 2 already.

Just wondering -- Will a 770 be bottleneck by my i7 920 @2.6?

Dammit the driver update is only for GTX 7xx and up -_-

Coach_McGuirk4431d ago (Edited 4431d ago )

That's simply not true. Any dx11 card is affected by this update. On the nvidia driver feedback forums people are talking about the gains on their 560ti and 550ti's.

1nsaint4431d ago (Edited 4431d ago )

sorry i should have clarified, i mean the driver that has been released yesterday (driver 337) that improves fps in a lot of games.

I have the GTX650 and i'm still on driver 335.
after checking nvidia's website i noticed they where only talking about the 700 series.

But if you are saying people on forums with the 500 series have been talking about fps gains. it must be out,

Gonna do some research, thanks for the reply :)

1nsaint4431d ago

Did some reading and you're right.

The update is a Beta, that's why it didn't come up when searching for updates in Geforce Experience.

Downloading it now from the website :D thanks for your comment man :)

Are_The_MaDNess4431d ago

all of the drivers releasing now is for 400series + cards atleast. the drivers works fine with my GTX580 and had over 13FPS increase in Skyrim aswell :D

1nsaint4431d ago

Is that the driver 337 update that released yesterday that gave you the boost?.

If that's the case the update might have not rolled out for the GTX650 then maybe.

Or maybe, although unlikely, it may not have been released in my country.
But i'm pretty sure it's all released internationaly.

Btw. id you do a manual update or check for updates via Geforce experience?

1nsaint4431d ago

Wait, this is the update right? http://www.nvidia.com/downl...

It's a beta that's why i didn't come up when i checked for updates via Geforce experience

Are_The_MaDNess4431d ago (Edited 4431d ago )

the reason its not out in Experience is because they roll out the updates out on different times.
downloading and upgrading with Experience or not is really no difference between the two on the drivers side of things. just download it from the link
http://www.nvidia.com/downl...

and it will simply update the driver for you.
when you start up Experience again it will see that you have updated and such. there is nothing really wrong with using a beta driver. tho in some very few cases it can mess up how the drivers work because of your other components i think..... but that is easy to fix by uninstalling it and updating to an older driver or just waiting for the nonebeta driver.

the driver works great here and i get faster loading aswell in most of my games like it says....... tho sadly i dont see much diffrence in my most played game, Dota 2 (atleast in loading, already was capped out at 120fps in that game.....)

EDIT: also you can tick off an option in Experience for Beta drivers. but Experience is slow on its updates at times. if it was only a few hours slow then it would have been fine, but a day or two? heeeell no, rather get my new and better driver ASAP.

Whats with all the bitching?
Last time I checked competition was good.
Keeps companies in check, so they don't get lazy, thus delivering the best for their customers.

I got a Gainward GTX 770 last year for $490
It's gonna sit well for me for years to come.

I'll admit, I was a huge amd & radeon fan... Untill they merged. It seemed they bit off more than they could chew.
My amd cpu and ati chip ran into the 90c-100c.

That's bullshit hot, especially for a hot country like Australia. So one day when my ati x800 gpu fried itself to death I decided to switch to intel cpu and nvidia gpu. Sitting cool at 30c (room temp), goes to 50-60c with MAX load.

Sorry ati/radeon/amd never looked back.

Belasco4431d ago

I would like to see a new player in the GPU market, remember the Matrox Parhelia? What other choice is there besides Nvidia and AMD?

jazmac4431d ago (Edited 4431d ago )

I think two is the perfect number for competition, it keeps the competition there without spreading the market too thin, all competitions naturally shrink down to just two eventually.

anyone else find it amusing that AMD provides the hardware inside Microsoft's xbox one and at the same time is trying to take out the API that runs on that hardware?

wtopez4431d ago

Well the xbox was always going to use DirectX. What has surprised me a bit is that MS has been using Nvidia GPUs instead of AMD GPUs whenever they do a showing be it for Xbox or PC. Even last year's E3, when they were caught using PCs with GTX 780s for the X1 demos. Maybe there's some behind the scenes drama between AMD and MS because Sony's APU turned out much stronger? That's just the UFO hunter in me talking.

mmj4431d ago

Microsoft and Sony went to AMD because they are cheap, it's business... they're not all great friends or anything.

Veteran artist behind Mass Effect, Halo, and Overwatch 2 weighs in on Nvidia DLSS 5

Darryl Linington from Notebookchect.net writes, "The backlash around Nvidia’s AI push and DLSS 5 has opened a broader question in game development. Beyond performance and image quality, veteran artists are now weighing what AI-driven rendering means for authorship and visual control. If a system can add or reinterpret detail after the fact, the issue is no longer just technical. It becomes a question of how much of the final image still belongs to the people who built it."

NVIDIA DLSS 4.5 Frame Gen 5x & 6x Come to RTX 50 Series GPUs + Dynamic Multi Frame Gen

The latest GeForce driver introduces DLSS 4.5 Multi Frame Generation 5x and 6x alongside Dynamic Multi Frame Generation to RTX 50-series GPUs. The former increases the number of interpolated frames to 4 and 5 (between every two rendered frames), further reducing reliance on the CPU.

Big corp bowing down to another big corp is nothing more than helping each other. But try any games it doesn't work

Smellsforfree53d ago

I don't mind frame gen but only use it if I'm already >70fps without it. It is kinda nice but if I see any visual artifacts I will turn it off. Whenever I'm playing games on my 120Hz LG C3 I will almost never use it because frame rates >120fps look really bad. I think spatial super sampling is a far more interesting and beneficial tech than frame gen. Boosting 30fps to 60fps with framegen is just garbage.

SimpleDad53d ago

Tvs were doing this 15 years ago with their telenovela effect... Idk how anyone can play with this on.

There is definitely input lag there and artifacts.

CornholioX52d ago

It's commercial how they show it. Typical any company does that.

Goodguy0152d ago (Edited 52d ago )

Frame gen just has too much latency and visual glitches for me, don't think I can ever use it for most games. I'd compare with it on and off and it's a world of difference in the feel. I need the very least input lag in my gaming. Companies should rely on actual optimization. As for potato hardware, I suppose it could have it's use.

Is the AI Push in AAA Gaming Giving Indie Developers A Golden Ticket?

WTMG's Jordan Hawes: "With the advent of NVIDIA's DLSS 5 tools, and the whole debacle surrounding AI usage in AAA gaming, is this new push an opportunity for smaller studios to showcase they are the ones vouching for artistic integrity in the gaming industry?"

They already are. Indie studios are the only developers that constantly strive to publish innovative and experimental experiences. There has been little to no art in AAA gaming, with just a few exceptions.

Yi-Long63d ago

Indie-studios have been showcasing their creative superiority and bravery over AAA-studios/releases for a while now.

Personally. I have zero interest in AI slop in any of my entertainment, so regardless of what Sony, Ubisoft, MS, EA, etc believe the future is, I'm just not gonna touch any of that stuff.

blacktiger63d ago

Everything you said but for me MS is always the problem.

isarai_lee63d ago

One more thing in a long list of things that already give indie Games an advantage

Miacosa63d ago (Edited 63d ago )

In reality a dev having a simplistic tech statck does not really impact the end user experience. If the game is good and worth playing is what matters. In other words some cooks make care if 2 or 3 eggs were used to make a cake but the person eating it doesn't. And in the case of DLSS 5 the chef is soley responsible for the recipe and how its mixed together.
